Kara were HUGE in their time, they were particularly popular in Japan. They were one of Girls Generation's biggest rivals at the height of their career. They are another group that were really good at switching concepts from one comeback to the next. Iconic and great songs of theirs include "Mister" "Mamma Mia" "Damaged Lady" "Honey"
Kara was my introduction to Kpop due to their popularity in Japan. I was active on Jpop forums at the time, and my friends on there shared their music with me.
Another group that we can't ever go back to... sigh.. KARA's Mister is their massive hit, similar to how Gee is to SNSD, I'd reco checking that out! Lupin is also a great classic of KARA's, I personally also like Damaged Lady as well as their latest 2 comebacks (I say latest 2 but it has been years since the comebacks) Mamma Mia and Cupid. These 2 comebacks were with a new (& young) member Youngji and she surprisingly fit with the other members (who are at least 7 group-years old by then) pretty well! edit: They were extremely popular in Japan! Fun fact it was actually honey that put them as SNSD'S competition back then, honey was so big it was one of the only songs to break Gee by SNSD streak at the top spot on music shows the other being brown eyed girls abracadabra. Mr was actually there break out into the international scene realistically. A lot of people forget that Honey really blew them up domestically, it was even chosen by fans as there repackage single for there pretty girl mini album.
Kara were apart of the legendary “WonSoKa Line" alongside Wonder Girls & Girls Generation. they pretty much started the 2nd Generation of kpop for girl groups. I recommend that you listen to Kara’s Debut song BREAK IT & Mister ( their most successful song). Love your reactions 😊💜 Fun fact: some members from these 3 groups attended High school & college together + they were pretty close back then!💜
They started out with really cute music, and then branched out. They were really big, it was really sad when two members left. They had a reality show called "Baby Kara" where girls competed to join Kara and they continued on for a bit with four members, sadly they disbanded, I think two comebacks later or something like that. One of the members, Goo Hara, passed away last year, sadly. She was great friends with Sully, her passing was only a month after Sully's

KARA was huge back in their time. Seriously back at the peak of Gen 2 you'd constantly have variety shows trying to ask celebs/other artists whether they preferred SNSD, KARA & Wonder Girls bc they were the hot girl groups. kara is seriously one of my ult fave artists, i'm so happy you decided to check them out! their song mister is what made them really popular, it was their first big hit. other songs i'd suggest are lupin (2010), damaged lady (2013), mamma mia (2014), cupid (2015) and jumping (2010). they disbanded in 2016. cupid was their last title track/album promotion (album is 'In Love', their 7th EP). they debuted back in 2007 and have also gone through a few line-up changes, but this line-up of 5 members Seungyeon, Nicole, Gyuri, Jiyoung and Hara is the most notable and their longest line-up from 2008 to 2014. nicole left the group early in 2014 and she's a solo artist now. they released mamma mia with new member Youngji. it's actually really interesting, bcs when they first debuted (line-up of Gyuri, Seungyeon, Sunghee and Nicole), they had more of an R&B type sound but it was after that in 2008 that they had a more cutesy concept/image with songs like rock u, pretty girl (both released in 2008) and honey (2009), but then their concept changed again to be very different after that. with their 2nd full length album Revolution, from this album, although Wanna was the lead title track, mister became super popular in Korea. after that, they stuck with a more strong/charismatic/sexy concept. most of the members now are actresses. unfortunately, Hara passed away last year on nov 24. i really miss her a lot... kara was one of the first groups i got into back in 2013, so i grew up listening to them and i still do. they're amazing and one of the best kpop artists imo. i also recommend you to check out other older kpop artists like 9muses, aoa, 4minute, ze:a, teen top, vixx, t-ara, apink, tvxq/jyj, sistar, infinite and super junior ^^

I loved KARA. Deeply. When they disbanded in 2016 I was heartbroken, to say the least. All this potential wasted! Yet again another group who was underestimated and treated poorly by both their company and the general public. Also, I will NEVER forget Goo Hara. She had so much to give to this world, and it did her so wrong. She didn't deserve any of what happened.
Yeah The company suck. If it just let Nicole doing her solo work alongside with Kara, like BEG's gain. They wouldn't be disbanded then. Stupid company ruining their only money-making group with that decision, and the stupiest idea of putting that woman into the group with delusion of selling and eating with Kara name. What a joke. They can't even managed Hara's scandals well and can't do sh*t to protect her at all. And she's even at the highest point of her career then. I'm still upset thinking of all those years, seeing the confident, bright and brilliant little girl become duller years by years until she met that f*cking beast that ruined her life yet she no longer loved herself enough to dump him.
Omg Kara yes!! They were always mentioned alongside with girls' generation back in the days. KARA's music is what I would turn to when I wanna some perking up. Step is one of my fav! It was literally my go to happy song. Thanks for checking them out! Would love to see more kara reaction from you!
I was dragged to their concert when I visited Japan by an ex-girlfriend who came with me (my trip to Japan was supposed to be a business trip). I (with tens of thousands of Japanese fans) had a great time, liking them more than I would ever admit to. Having said that "step" is such a bittersweet song, it is so optimistic and positive, but there was a darkness makes it so hard to listen to for me. Kpop may project such a bright image but there are things going on underneath that sheen that contradicts that.
KARA is one of my favorite k-pop female groups ever! They have so many great songs! I’m very excited that you are watching and reacting to these videos. 😊 I do hope you watch more! Some people have left a lot of good suggestions for other songs already. Please do keep exploring and thanks for the great videos!
Yes KARA!! ✨ One of those iconic girlgroups in KPop. Great music and vocals. (Unfortunately one of the members Go Hara (who was friends with f(x) Sulli) passe away in 2019, a month later after Sulli's death...😔😔)
You bring me back to the old memories.. Kara is such a talented girls group, their song are legends! So now we got snsd, kara reaction, maybe the next one will be wonder girls? If yes, I would like to recommend their songs called "why so lonely" which was written by themselves. It's a bop!
It can't be overstated how huge Kara were back in the day. The common adage is that SNSD ruled Korea whilst Kara ruled Japan - though in reality they both had enormous success in both countries. Step was one of my first kpop songs, the first I really loved. It can't be said enough just what an anthem it is. The girl you picked out in the middle is our Hara, gone, but never forgotten.
almost teared up watching this >_< coincidentally, i saw a recent interview with nicole earlier today and im glad that shes feeling healthier, physically and mentally
YES!!! Both of these are still on my playlist and will probably stay there forever. Another great group for a throwback: After School - Shampoo and Because of You
To many Angel die... Rip Hara. I can't watch any of kara mv ,song. It really broke my heart. I know kara from they debut day.. I'm being fan of them , it long time ago .
One of the things I absolutely love about your channel is that you mainly focus on reacting to second/third gen kpop groups which is so refreshing to every other reaction channel since not many people want to see old kpop now but it’s just something many of us grew up with so it’s definitely nostalgic 🥰 Thank you again!
I’d love to see you explore more Kara, they were such an amazing group. I’m biased being a longtime fan of them but I’d like to give you my perspective into what made them so special, at least to me. First off they did have very nice vocals but none were totally outstanding or stable 100% of the time but imo they really retained some of the most beautiful harmonies I’d ever experienced from a gg, something about the way their voices melded was magic. They often supported one another live vocally in unique pairings that really showcased their sound. Really they were known for some of their dances but really overall individually they were never a++ dancers all of the time but again when in unison they just exploded with charisma and showmanship. If you’ll notice after seeing a few lives or even dance practices the thing about Kara’s dancing skill was they all worked in great sync and all knew the moves to the choreo but they all distinctly (imo) danced the moves in their own style. That’s what made Kara so memorable and lovable ultimately to me. They just had really funny good personalities and their struggles in the beginning and all along the path of their career were a true picture of how an idol could overcome the odds. (Han SeungYeon is the ultimate trooper) I loved and will always claim Goo Hara as my ultimate bias but I loved all the members old and new. Thank you for sharing this I hope you find interest in more of their contributions to Kpop
One of my favorite 2nd gen groups 😭 i miss Hara so much. I loved all the girls but Hara was my ultimate. All of their title releases were big hits. They did go through a few member changes but they were able to overcome the changes and comeback better and better each time. Whoever chose their songs was so good at finding catchy dance hits and fit the girls so well. Step was one of my favorites for a very long time so I’m glad you started with that one.
KARA was another iconic group during the late 2000’s. They came out with bop after bop, and they created what’s known as the “butt dance” from their hit song Mister. SNSD, KARA, T-ARA, Brown Eyed Girls, and Wonder Girls were all legendary groups that debuted in 2006-2007 (the 2nd wave of girl groups in kpop history). KARA was considered the queens in Japan. You gotta check Mister, Mamma Mia and Lupin out. Such iconic songs. My personally favorites. I really miss them, just sad we can’t ever have them back. You said that your favorite in Step was the girl in the center with the leggings. That would be Goo Hara, she’s also my bias in their group. Also, famous for her famous ponytail if you get around to reacting to Lupin. Sadly she isn’t with us anymore, though she definitely is remembered by everyone who appreciated her as a wonderful person, friend, and artist.
Yeah. Kara is super iconic. They were apart of the girls group trinity in their time. The trinity being Girls Generation, Wondergirls and Kara. They have such iconic boos you’d love!
Loved it!!! Pandora is one of my all time favorite songs from that era. Kara was epic and very popular at their time. I am very heartbroken at Go Hara’s passing. It’s a huge loss .
KARA was the most famous K-pop girl group in Japan because they all went on Japanese TV and spoke it fluently even though they are all ethnically Korean. Most other groups just use interpreters. It showed the public how serious they were about their career in Japan. To this day the girls prefer having solo careers in Japan because it makes them more money obviously but also Korea paid them dust in later years which was heartbreaking to see.
These girls were part of the kpop trailblazers, moreso for the Japanese market. The only group beck in the day that could even compete if mot surpass snsd in Japan in their prime.. The members in step with the scene with the mic stands are from left to right are. Kang Jiyoung - maknae Jung Nicole - pretty much a powerhouse do it all member, can sing, dance, rap, and is a visual Goo Hara - center/face of the group. Unfortunetly she took her own life after her BFF sulli took her own life as well. Han Suengyeon - main vocal Park Gyuri - leader and self proclaimed goddess (old fans know) Nicole and Jiyoung left the group in 2014, Heo Yeoungji was added and they became a 4 member group. However they disbanded in 2016.
WONSOKA unite! (Wonder Girls, Soshi, Kara) Revival through this channel 😂 Putting these three together in one show is full crack. I’m really happy you enjoy 2nd gen groups! But I totally understand what you mean by feeling more connected with them because of your own age.
The genre can pretty much be summed up as "Sweetune". They were a songwriter group that made songs for several kpop acts, their most popular associations being KARA, Infinite, and Nine Muses. Their style was dance, electro, 80's synth-pop, disco, a really cool mish-mash of sounds that produced some of the last decade's most iconic songs. Lupin, Step, Pandora, A, BTD, The Chaser, Be Mine, Paradise, Wild, just to name a few. Though their songs were more popular because of the acts they were associated with, Sweetune sort of gained a cult following because many felt they were not quite as appreciated as some of the bigger money-making kpop producers. The Chaser by Infinite, for example, was named Billboard's best kpop song of 2012. That was the same year that gave us Psy's Gangnam Style, by the way. It was also named one of the best boy group songs of all time by Rolling Stone, a list that included a total of only 9 kpop songs among 75. Sweetune did THAT. This isn't an official accolade, but many personally think it's the best kpop song ever. I recommend checking out an instrumental version of the song to get a feel for why that is.
I absolutely loved Kara. My heart broke when Hara left this world. She was such a genuinely sweet girl. Kara was friends with Girl’s Generation as they promoted at the same time. You should react to Mister, Damaged Lady, Mamma Mia and Cupid. I think you will like them! Also, Yuri, one the vocal members, is quite a character. She called herself The Goddess. 😅
Kara, Most people focus on Mister. when discussing Kara, which, originally a Japanese track and exploded them to new heights there. No official Mr. Music Video exists which is why Step has a higher view count. However Kara's hits extend to their R&B vocal power debut "Break it", "Rock U" "Pretty Girl", "Lupin" Their only song to hit number 1 on Korea's Gaon Chart. "Jumping". and Mamma Mia, their first song with the addition of new Member Young ji after the departure of Nicole, and Jiyoung.
I'm so glad that you have reacted to Kara because I think they aren't famous like other groups around the world but in Japan yes, they were so popular. Although they weren't o aren't so popular, these girls are talented, gorgeous and as a group, they have great songs. I consider myself as a Kamilia, which the name of the fandom. Their agencie was the same as Kard, DSP. Please, react to more songs, you won't regret !
My first concert visit was 'KARA'. But that concert was the first and last KARA's concert in Korea😢 'Honey' with a cute concept and 'Jumping', 'Lupin' is iconic too. My favorite songs❤️
I'm really enjoying your reactions to the OGs! Since I'm an OG fan, it makes me happy to see that you're appreciating all of them so far. And like everyone mentioned here, KARA was so popular back then and even one of the most popular GG group in Japan along with T-ARA and SNSD. And they're still popular tbh. I missed them and Hara was even my bias too qwq
Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation, and now KARA. Yes there are other girl groups but these three were the holy trinity back in the late-2000s since they all debuted almost at the exact same time.
Hurmm..they have many good songs~~ but remain underrated~~ just donno where went wrong~~ glad u decide to react to their music n certified them as bop~~
I'm thrilled seeing someone react to Kara's songs at this time. It's a pity their best songs, in my opinion, are almost all in japanese so you can't find the full song in their official channel nor universal japan. They're also the first group that has solo song+MV for each member, which the songs are all selected by the member themselves according to their interest back then. I hope you can listen to their song too, although not record the reaction, it's fine. I love them and their musics so much.
KARA was popular. Part of WONSOKA (Wonder Girls, SNSD, Kara) top gg from 2007. Also, KARA is the only rival worth mentioned for SNSD in Japan. They're HUGE in JAPAN.
KARA was one of the Titans in KPOP during their reign. Same level as Girls' Generation, T-ARA, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 4Minute and APink. They were the group who dominated the Japanese market, just like how T-ARA won in the Chinese market and Girls' Generation mainly in Korea.
2011 was such the biggest year SuJu, SNSD, Tara, Kara, WG, 2ne1, Miss A, Sistar, 4minute. I think all of them released songs that was so iconic on that year and it was very hard to vote.
KARA is my 2nd girl group that I stan after I discovered SNSD. I knew them in a variety show called Invincible Youth where they made 7 girl group members farm and stuff.. Sunny and Yuri was in that show and that is where Sunny got the nickname "Chicken Cather".. it was my first korean variety show that i watched and I was fascinated by the fact that beautiful kpop idols are doing farm work.. you should watch it! SNSD- YURI, SUNNY KARA- HARA (R.I.P) 4 MINUTE- HYUNA T-ARA- HYOMIN B.E.G- NARSHA SECRET- SUNHWA these groups are among the ICONIC girl group in 2nd gen kpop.

Kara were huge in Japan, the first 2nd gen kpop girl group to be so huge over there. Also, they disbanded in 2016 sadly.
Kara's Mister is so iconic, i like Mamma Mia and Damaged Lady too
Please react to more of Kara’s songs, they are all amazing iconic
Omg Kara yes!! They were always mentioned alongside with girls' generation back in the days. KARA's music is what I would turn to when I wanna some perking up. Step is one of my fav! It was literally my go to happy song. Thanks for checking them out! Would love to see more kara reaction from you!
I hope you can react to Mister and Mamma Mia, really, like REALLY, they’re so good
Also cupid
@@divaselviana9425 Cupid is really good too
I love it how you're exploring the 2nd gen kpop, THE GOLDEN DAYS OF KPOP. ❤️
The way I still have STEP on my Spotify playlist, this song is SOOOO good to this day
Old kpop song are really iconic 🥺💘
Ah yeah.. thanks for reaction them
2:56 Yes, every dance arcade i've seen had Kara playing a couple of years ago, like, 2017 or earlier.
Kara... They are always in my heart. Miss them so much.
Kara it's a iconic group and my favorites songs are: Lupin, Damaged Lady, Mamma Mía and Mr.
STEP WAS ICONIC! PeRIODT HUHUHU
Always fun to see new kpoppers react to 2nd gen groups. That was a magical time.
Yeesh, i didn't think i'd be in my feels seeing Hara again
OHMYGOD I COULDN'T STOP CRYING WHEN AUSTIN PLAYED THE MV.... DAMN.... HARA :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
This one of my fav all time. 😢❤ I miss the memories back then. They surely HUGE success back then
Step was my first ever Kpop mv and I was HOOKED! ^^
KARA is one of my favorite k-pop female groups ever! They have so many great songs! I’m very excited that you are watching and reacting to these videos. 😊 I do hope you watch more! Some people have left a lot of good suggestions for other songs already. Please do keep exploring and thanks for the great videos!
Yes KARA!! ✨
One of those iconic girlgroups in KPop.
No one can deny all their song is very catchy and all their MV is so pleasing to the eyes. I feel so old.
Its been a year since Hara's passing I miss her so much.
I can't help but cry whenever I see them 😭
Omggg you are making the most special reaction videos!!!! thank you so much!!
Hara will thank you from heaven. I miss her so much
Ji-young from Kara was in Invencible Youth 2 along side with Hyoyeon and Sunny
It was Hara in invincable youth.
@@birgerkamprath6353 There are 2 seasons of invincible youth tho. Hara's the cast of season 1, amd Jiyoung's season 2 with Suzy.
My favorite Kara songs are Step and Mister! So glad to see them getting some love!!
My fav song is "Umbrella" by them ;-;
KARA are so iconic tho, they banged loud and clear back in the day
These girls were part of the kpop trailblazers, moreso for the Japanese market. The only group beck in the day that could even compete if mot surpass snsd in Japan in their prime..
The members in step with the scene with the mic stands are from left to right are.
Kang Jiyoung - maknae
Jung Nicole - pretty much a powerhouse do it all member, can sing, dance, rap, and is a visual
Goo Hara - center/face of the group. Unfortunetly she took her own life after her BFF sulli took her own life as well.
Han Suengyeon - main vocal
Park Gyuri - leader and self proclaimed goddess (old fans know)
Nicole and Jiyoung left the group in 2014, Heo Yeoungji was added and they became a 4 member group.
Yes, this Gen are very talented but I don't know I enjoyed so much the 2nd Gen.
Oh my gosh! OH. MY. GOSH!!!! Kara is my ULT 2nd generation group along with SNSD. Thank you for reacting to them! 😭😭😭
Pandora is my favorite. I never miss watching the mv from time to time
I absolutely loved Kara.
However Kara's hits extend to their R&B vocal power debut "Break it",
"Rock U"
"Pretty Girl",
"Lupin" Their only song to hit number 1 on Korea's Gaon Chart.
"Jumping".
and Mamma Mia, their first song with the addition of new Member Young ji after the departure of Nicole, and Jiyoung.
KARA!!!
I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE RECOGNIZE THEM NOW 🥺🥺🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
SNSD and KARA are the popular group, you can say they taking turn gettin number 1 in the chart back in the days.
Oh man haven’t listened to this in years thank u for bringing it back
I LOVE Step!! 🥰
My first concert visit was 'KARA'. But that concert was the first and last KARA's concert in Korea😢
'Honey' with a cute concept and 'Jumping', 'Lupin' is iconic too.
My second-generation heart is filled. Yes...
step makes me cry because of how good it is
Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation, and now KARA. Yes there are other girl groups but these three were the holy trinity back in the late-2000s since they all debuted almost at the exact same time.
i miss 2nd gen kpop :((( and yea Thursday’s my new fav day of the week bc u always react to my fav songs
Hurmm..they have many good songs~~ but remain underrated~~ just donno where went wrong~~ glad u decide to react to their music n certified them as bop~~
Goo Hara of Kara and Sunny of GG basically carried "Invincible youth" they were so Strong, charismatic and played off each other so well.
Kara 😭💚 one of the largest groups of girls. SNSD rivals in Japan
Trust me 2nd generation song is all bop and every group try every genre and concept and their song is always iconic❤
KARA, my personal all time best girl group. Thanx for this vid
Hara, miss you angel. 😔💔
YAYYY so, my personal fav Kara is one of their songs after some member shuffles, but it's "CUPID" !
KARA was an icon. Super popular. If you like them, you'll likely also love T-ARA. Both are 10/10 groups.
Take me back to those times when we still had KARA, F(X), SISTAR, After School, 4minute, 2NE1...
It would fit so well for Eurovision.
You should react to Orange Caramel for your next throwback Thursday! All their songs are bops 😊
Edit : Or miss A !
YES!! They are amazing and veeeery unique
Yes Orange Caramel 😍
Yaaasss
First after school...for example "first love"
Then orange caramel which is their sub-unit. And yesss. They are so unique.
This was a good choice! One of the Kpop groups I started with.
2011 was such the biggest year
SuJu, SNSD, Tara, Kara, WG, 2ne1, Miss A, Sistar, 4minute.
I think all of them released songs that was so iconic on that year and it was very hard to vote.
Step is a legendary song. Love it!
SNSD- YURI, SUNNY
KARA- HARA (R.I.P)
4 MINUTE- HYUNA
T-ARA- HYOMIN
B.E.G- NARSHA
SECRET- SUNHWA
these groups are among the ICONIC girl group in 2nd gen kpop.
Really miss them, my babies 🥺
I love kara "lupin" alot
