    Very interesting and informative. I haven’t had to change the oil in our new RAV4 yet but by your video it appears the filter is mounted “ sideways “? I’m surprised that the oil you put into the filter didn’t partially pour out as you started to screw it back onto the engine. With the cabin air filter I learned a lesson. I was inspecting mine on my 2017 Highlander and while reinstalling the glove box I must have pushed that small black button near the top left side of the frame around the hole for the glove box. A week later I tried to open the power rear hatch and it beeped twice but wouldn’t open. I Googled it and it said that if the rear glass that opens on 2014-2019 Highlanders isn’t closed properly the power rear hatch won’t open. I checked the glass part and it was closed properly. I phoned the Toyota dealership and the service person said the electric rear door struts needed to be replaced. The cost was ridiculous. I found another RUclipsr who makes videos on do it yourself projects for the 2014-2019 Highlander and found one for 4 reasons for rear hatch not opening. The 2nd thing he mentioned after the rear opening glass was that button in the glove box area. That button is also in the RAV4 with a power lifting rear hatch. If the button is out the rear hatch won’t work. If 5he button is pressed “ in” the power hatch will function. Saved me spending over $800 for new struts.

    Whn changing out the battery in the smart key after pulling out the "emergency key " you use that in the slot to twist and open the key's cover. When you change out the 12 volt battery you should use a device to prevent the ECU ( computer " from losing any of the vehicle's settings or use a portable booster box to keep power to the vehicle while the 12 volt battery is being removed. If your vehicle had any Toyota updates put into the computer they will be saved along with any of your personal settings. Otherwise the computer will revert to factory settings that were on the computer before the vehicle was purchased.

Instead of using a piece of flimsy plastic to pry the FOB open, use the KEY that you just pulled out, the slot in the FOB is perfectly shaped for the tip of the key. Simply put the key in the small slot and twist. You're welcome.

    • @alexwill3722
      @alexwill3722 Год назад +1

      any vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Start on the "flat side " of the filter to remove dust, dirt, pet hair etc. Do that side well as when vacuuming the " inside " of the filter you would be pulling any debris deeper into the filter obstructing the air flow. Check the filter after 2 months, if it's clean, next time go 4 months, of4 months is still clean, do checks once every 6 months. This one maintenance itself can make the hybrid battery last almost forever. Make sure to never cover the filter opening with a pillow , coat or blanket etc. and never spill water on the back seat or lave a bag of ice cubes on the seat iy will damage the hybrid battery which is under the seat.

    Just FYI, the 12v battery for the hybrids is in the trunk, not under the hood. There is a “boost” terminal in the engine bay if you ever need a boost, but the battery is in a compartment on the right side of the trunk.
    Also, the hybrid has a mini 12v battery that should not be used to boost other cars. It exists solely to power electric accessories, not to crank the engine. It isn’t powerful enough for that, so don’t try it or you’re likely to kill it.

      Ideally, you should subtract the amount of oil you put in the filter from 4.8 quarts. Adding the oil to the filter is not compulsory. In theory, it minimizes the amount of time the engine works without oil.

      If you change the engine oil and the filter, you have to put in 4.5 liters (4.8 quarts) of oil in the 2019-2023 Toyota RAV4. For the 2024 Toyota RAV4, you have to put in 4.3 liters (4.5 quarts) of oil if you replace the engine oil and the filter.
      2019-2023 RAV4 Oil Capacity: With filter - 4.5 L or 4.8 qt.; Without filter - 4.2 L or 4.4 qt.
      2024 RAV4 Oil Capacity: With filter - 4.3 L or 4.5 qt.; Without filter - 4.0 L or 4.2 qt.

    After replacing the battery, don’t u need to calibrate the system?

    • @MorozovAutomotive
      @MorozovAutomotive  2 года назад +2

      We replaced the battery in the non-hybrid RAV4. Things like clock, radio presets had to be configured again. But we did not have any other issues with the vehicle. Toyota Safety Sense was working fine. Usually the system needs to be calibrated if you replace certain components. In general, it is a good idea to use the battery memory saver when you replace the battery. They have ones with only 9v battery which gets connected into the OBD2 port: OBD ll Connector Vehicle Memory Saver Reliable and Easy 9 Volt Battery Powered - amzn.to/3jRqYNe.

      @@alexwill3722- totally agree don’t go more than 5000 miles. Especially with this RAV4 engine. Going 10,000 miles is the same as saying you don’t need to service your transmission fluid which is a bunch of BS.

    • @alexwill3722
      @alexwill3722 Год назад

      Check the air filter every oil change. Change the oil every 5000 to 6000 miles 8000-6000 kms. Air filters don't need to be changed that often unless you do a lot of driving on dirty, dusty roads or there's lots of bugs around when you're driving. My Highlander and my previous Sienna each had the original air filter for 90,000 kms plus. I finally changed them just because and not because the had any debris on them. By the way, if you get your services done at Toyota or any other shops tell them to NOT replace your cabin air filter. There's cheaper $$$$ ones and they are dead easy to change yourself once every year or two once again if you drive in dusty or heavy " bug" areas.

    False TCCN highly recommends changing the oil every six months or 5,000 miles!! This is a new design-style 2.5 L engine, and it will burn oil over time if you change the oil and filter at 10,000 miles!
    I used to change our 2019 Rav 4 oil and filter at 10,000 miles the same as our old 2008 Rav 4, and then I noticed some oil Consumption this isn't good.

      I don’t do them all either but the engine air filter is the easiest and quickest - no tools required Literally one minute. Cabin filter next, takes about 2 minutes and no tools - or pay easily 2-3x that at an oil change place or more at the dealer. Also, never pay for the fuel treatment they recommend. You can buy a bottle at autozone for $5 and put it in yourself - or be charged $20 to have the oil change place do it for you. Those 3 things will save you about $100 if you diy and will take all of 5 minutes total.
