I had never seen a bodkin before. It was mentioned in an article about the history of Susan Bates crochet hooks. I needed to look it up. I had always used safety pins or paper clips to restring a cord or ribbon. I think I would rather use a bodkin. Thanks for sharing this.
LOL!! I had to lol when I saw this bodkin.....I always thought they were funny looking tweezers!!! Mom was a seamstress and used this more often than I can remember but being young I guess never occurred to me to ask her what it was. I just found it the other day and put it back in her sewing box. Thanks for a good laugh and teaching us about the things used back in the day!
Hi Daniela.Hello from India!! Thanks a lot for this detailed and useful demo about how to use a 'bodkin'. On my recent trip to 'Michaels' at Chicago,USA, I saw this tool. I purchased one but I didn't know how to use it !! I came across your video on youtube and my problem was solved !! I have subscribed to your channel and will check the other videos too. Thanks again.
I bought two kits for crocheting a drawstring bag and one of these came in each kit. I was so confused till i googled and found this. Drawstring bag. Makes sense now. Lol
I use a safety pin pinned onto the cord or elastic to be threaded thru the channel. But I didn't know the meaning of "bodkin", I'd thought it was just an old word for a sewing needle!

I find bodkins helpful, too. I am someone who really enjoys speciific tools.
I've had one of these for years and didn't know how to use it. I'm threading elastic as I watch. Ty ❤
Glad I could help!

Great memory!
I had no idea this tool existed! All these years I used a safety pin , which works but also gets tricky if it opens while inside. Thank you😁
The safety pin technique comes in handy. :)
Very nice video 100%👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Finally I know what this tool is for! Thank you 😊
Happy to help!

Where can i purchase the bokins
You should be able to find these in any store that has a sewing section - Walmart, JoAnn fabrics, or online at amazon. 😊
I think a large size safety pin does the job 100 times better 😔
It's defintely a great alternative. Use whatever tool works for you.
Sure. 🙂Thanks to u, i at least know the name of this "mysterious" tool in my sewing kit 😊
Makes a great roach clip bar none. Fits in yer hat band for quick access lol
