Love your vids. Thanks for making them. You guys definitely deserve more views and subscribers.
Keep up the good work guys, i really like your videos.
Those decals look awesome
car sounds SICK
This is a great way to wake up
it would be awesome if you guys did a track shootout with this car the ass2000 and the jag and the s14
Matthew Dolbey definitely on our To-Do List! I think we'll use our FD RX-7 instead of the Jag, tho :)
David Pratte im at a loss for words you guys have an FD man i have to come to USA to meet you guys i love what you guys are doing to these cars you guys have my exact taste in mods and cars would be cool if you guys did a video of whats in your garage like works in progress and stuff like that
David Pratte yesss!!!!!!!!! I cant wait.
+Matthew Dolbey They need to get those ITB's on that KICKASS2000 give it a solid tune, then i reckon these 2 head to head would be orsm.
nice video!!!! now onto the s2000 :)!!!
turn up the boost you need more whp. and tq
+bdulay93 We'll be swapping out the pulley for a smaller one next year!
Does the Jackson super charger you put on require the dyno tuning? Or can it run on stock tune?
May I ask where you ordered the decal?
Hey guys! I love your work! And what about some rocket bunny aero parts on this FR-S? This car rocket bunny is super awsome!
+srgsandmanvid Too many of those running around and we don't have the budget for it. Plus we kinda like the OEM look better. :)
great job! i think the fa20 really needs forced induction my wrx turbo feels awesome with the turbo but i would not want it N/A so its the same for the gt86 in my opinion
+Rising Sun We're hoping one day the FRS or BRZ will come with factory turbocharged power! That would be the best setup ever.
+Speed Academy i agree I am hopping for a turbo version of the fa20 too and i would love a choice of engine with a high reving NA vvti engine like the f20c but I am dreaming for sure haha
Why subaru don't literally just take the boosted WRX FA20 and slap it into the BRZ is beyond me... I'd buy that in a heartbeat
+Oliver Rivett-Carnac I spoke with the lead engineer at Toyota and the issue is as soon as you add power then everything else needs to be beefed up, brakes suspension, chassis, so that adds more weight and in their mind would ruin the nimble and great handling chassis they set out to build.
With all that said, I totally agree haha put the turbo FA in there, slap a small turbo on it make 200hp and we'll all be happy.
Speed Academy I think that is balls. I understand that things would be need to be beefed up, however we are not talking like mad power... Maybe something nearing the 200-250bhp range. The thing I love about the 86 is the chassis, low center of gravity and, stiffness. I truly believe the chassis is capable of way more than the current power and weight. Sure there would be added weight but I don't believe it would ruin the car at all. The current power plant is anemic and underpowered.
Secondly they would be shipping two models.... Drivers can choose the added weight for a more skiddy experience... Maybe a little heavier but slightly more focus on speed over low speed agility.
They also need to look at customer demand... And alot of people are wanting a boosted 86.
Nice work guys, I was hoping that you would yield more hp, I'd love to see maybe, top end internals; (cams+pulleys), larger cc injectors, ecu, intake manifold. Target 350 to 400 whp. Best of luck!
+Dj Hazard Those power figures ensure a reliable setup. Any FRS we've seen with 350-400whp hasn't been very reliable and usually needs a full engine build to support that so we're a bit weary of going full out to make big power and then struggling to keep the car running. However, the idea of a 300-320whp stock engine turbo setup is very appealing so we may do that next year. :)
+Speed Academy ah reliability is key, good thinking.
I love your videos and have used them for my 240 build and now for my frs but I'm curious, how is it the stock tune from Jackson racing is ~280whp yet you guys are at 262whp. there are multiple dyno charts and people that prove the stock tune is where it says. do you think it's because of elevation or something with the car not breathing right?
Not at all. Every dyno is different and same goes with engine. We really don't rely on dyno charts too much. Rather the focus is on how well the car runs. Plus, we were doing a 7-day endurance race which meant a very conservative tune to ensure nothing would break or go wrong. The stock tune may provide more power but you never know if it suits the engine and parts 100%. We always want to have a custom tune done to ensure that it's running optimally
The Dynojets which jackson racing use read a few percent more than a dynapack and even further more than a dynodynamics. It would explain the 10-15hp difference here. FYI stock FRS on a dynojet makes 180whp but on a dynamics around 165whp.
power at the hubs tends to be a little more than at the wheels, does it not? I usually count those two as separate measurements because it doesn't incorporate that unsprung mass which definitely has an effect on the road
maximus9401 theoretically yes, but in practice Sasha's Dynapack reads quite conservatively. On the local Dynojets, Mustang dynos or other Dynapacks we've used we know from experience that the these numbers would have been higher.
David Pratte I see, thanks for the clarification
Is this a low compression motor?
Idk what your plans are for this car now but just so you know there is a place out there that makes a harness to run an AEM infinity on the brz. Looking at it for my STX brz myself.
Oh awesome! We may look into it if we decide to go big power.
Speed Academy You guys might know, would infinity make more power than the ECUTEK? Or what are the advantages of the infinity? You could probably do an entire show on the explanation but any info would help.
Dam it's loud!
you guys r running on 91 right? Also how has the super charger held up so far?
Sunoco 94 Octane. We have had absolutely zero issues with the supercharger. Its been awesome.
Impressive numbers. Whats the story behind the five door subaru on the lift?
jorges2000 a customer car at Touge Tuning. Not exactly sure what it was having done to it, though.
+David Pratte Torn between a nice Subaru sti or s2k. I need to sell my wifes 07 civic si.......wonder what she would think
+jorges2000 if she needs a practical car for hauling stuff and driving in snow, sti. If its a secondary ride and she wants something sporty s2k
What octane gas was used during this dyno?
Great choice on the SC. Exhaust is quite loud though
Lol and that's a quieter exhaust than what it had before
+ZohanLohan I would have went with Perrin or Invidia q300 but nonetheless great build
theplatformer 94 octane pump gas. It is loud. We're going to add a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator to see if that quiets it down enough.
I'd love to race you in my JRSC Acura RSX
will dyno tuning pass smog test?
What exactly was done to this car that makes it not street-legal?
are you guys happy with the power? whats is your power goals that you guys would be happy with
+Lam Nguyen Is anyone ever happy with the power their engine makes? :) Honestly, another 15whp and this car would be perfect. That being said, the power it delivers right now is a ton of fun and keeps the car incredibly manageable.
+Speed Academy reason is im about to get my hks supercharger installed and im worried that 270-280whp is not enough. what are your guys thought as this car will be running on tmp, shannonville and mosport
+Lam Nguyen That will be ideal for the car. However, power is relative. Some people arent happy with 400whp but in the FRS anything around 300hp is perfect IMO
Are you guys running the Toyo R1R on that car? If so, how do you like them as a track day tire?
+TheWerkz yessir, R1R this year. We just did our first track test a couple nights ago and the grip level is very impressive, but the car had a ton of understeer from the huge rear wing and no front splitter, so it was difficult to properly assess them. Once we get the handling balance and aero balance sorted we plan to do a full tire review video on them.
Jackson Racing made 282.7HP and 216.6TQ with shitty CA91, carb legal tune and stock headers and exhaust with the c30 kit. How is this less? different dyno?
Playboyer670 you have to compare the baselines too
Can you guys elaborate on why it uses the MAF at lower load and the MAP at high load? That's backwards from everything I have ever tuned. (ford + GM).
+phoenix6064 We're not tuning experts but just like the stock MAP sensor the MAF's resolution under boost in this case isn't calibrated for it so relying on the aftermarket MAP sensor provides accurate readings to base the map off of. For cruising and everyday driving the MAF is ideal which means the stock mapping can be used to provide a stock like driving experience until you go full throttle.
+Speed Academy update: here's what Sasha from OnPoint Dyno had to say about it. "The short answer is that the OE MAF sensor maxes out, and the cars otherwise always use MAF throughout the range for the primary airflow calculations. The longer answer is that filtered MAP gives a smoother load reading to the ECU and as a result the ignition timing and fueling is more precise. The dyno can notice the difference and you can see it in the graphs, so we typically switch over to speed density earlier than we absolutely need to in terms of the MAF maxing out. The OE MAP sensor also maxes out, which is why we switched to the 2.5-bar MAP sensor.
You guys rock as always, thanks for the details. I had a similar scenario, and bought the 2.5bar map first (cheaper). I'm not as skilled as your tuner though, so I ended up buying the bigger MAF too.
you guys should run a flex fuel setup and use e85
There's no e85 available up here otherwise we'd definitely be on it.
that's your "quiet" exhaust, right? :D keep it up!
+thebibidu Yeah, not so quiet is it. The headers really make it hard to tolerate. We're thinking about adding in a resonator to see if it'll help.
+Speed Academy Quick question, is the JDL header street legal? Thinking about getting one. Thanks!
It really depends where you live. In our case the car is still catted and has the OE ECU in it so it'll pass a smog test, so it's legal here in Ontario. But some countries/provinces/states have different laws regard what constitutes a street legal aftermarket performance parts like this.
Thanks! More subscribers to you!
i put the same super charger as yall i changed map sensor and my car wouldn't start. so they tuned my car with the factory map sensor. why my car wouldn't start and i have the same map sensor as you
Yea I'm on the same issue do you guys have the values you used for the new map sensor
Rafael Perez did you ever figure out the problem with the car
knight nope tuner is still working on it. Its something to do with the value changes due to if you unplug the map 2.5 bar map sensor and turn the car on and replug the map sensor the car will drive normal but once engine is shut off the car won't start
What's the engine longevity with this Jackson supercharger?
Very reliable, watch our Ontario 1500 track series and you'll see we put it through some mega abuse and no issues.
Have you guys had any experience or heard anything about the reliability of the Sprintex/Innovate supercharger? How does Jackson compare in terms of reliability?
I watched twice, did you say what psi you were running? I didn't catch it.
select20 9 psi at redline.
Awesome
ahhh. u guys went with the c30 blower....
haha i see you comment on all the car videos! my family owns a '07 GPW, original owners!
Kevin Nguyen hey Kevin is my older brothers name.. lol.. i love my s2000. :)
i think there from kraftwerks webpage, they had a c38 on a brz which made 480WHP..
HOW MUCH HP DID SHE MAKE ? IS IT ONLY 262HP ? 🤔
How does one just "go to the track"? In a general sense of the question.
One gets in his car, drives to the track, then one pays and rips hot laps.
Was that a bosche recirc valve from a saab/Porsche?
+mmarchmonte88 No clue, it comes from Jackson Racing with the kit.
+mmarchmonte88 Yes. It's a bypass valve not a blow off valve.
+fwh79 bypass valve, blow off valve, compressor discharge/bypass valve, it's the same thing. It's either recirculating the air or venting to atmosphere.
Indeed...the blow off valve vents to the atmosphere and the bypass valve recirculates. They serve a similar function, however they are not the same. A blow off valve can cause problems on a mass air flow system.
+fwh79 whatever guy, you keep doing you I'm not gonna argue semantics over this shit. Cheers and keep boosting.
Just to confirm that's a C30-94 right?
V0rtex1986 Yessir
but that wing....
wouldn't you have run out of fuel pump with that kind of hp gain? I think a bigger pump would give another 10hp
There's already a larger pump installed so we're covered off on the fueling end.
Stock motor?
Yup.
No e85??
Luis Lujan we wish! Unfortunately we can't get it at the pump here in Ontario and we really need to tune for readily available fuel given all the road driving we'll be doing during the Ontario1500.
Why not turbo charge?
+Emmanuelle Catubig Because Supercharging is more reliable for the endurance race we were running. Easier on the engine too.
Thank you bro... I learn so many stuff in this channel! Get that checkered flag!!!!
kind of sounds like a honda.... no offence to honda guys but that thing needs a new exhaust
Love the new graphics except you guys put "rays" on it but are running advan wheels... Guessing that you guys finished the graphics before choosing your wheels
Curry Bombs Rays actually makes Advan wheels.
David Pratte Wow... I just made myself look dumb... though rays doesn't mention that they manufacture Advan wheels on their website. BTW it's awesome you guys read and reply to the comments:)
+Curry Bombs they make a lot of wheels for other company including Volks racing and Works wheel
Tou Vue nah, work is separate
There are no flames :(
+18iser haha, flames would be cool. We'll make some BIG flames for you with the FD RX-7.
sounds mean as f*#k! me want!
That supercharger almost sounds like a turbo.
x2p428 it is a centrifugal unit, which is essentially a belt driven turbo. Or rather, a turbo is an exhaust driven supercharger
+maximus9401 don't explain the difference to me you pedantic asshat. I know the difference. But the thing is superchargers generally making a whine where turbos make a whistle. This makes more of a whistle than a whine, that's the point I'm trying to make which you clearly missed.
x2p428 woah there champ, why are you using insults? In no way did mean any offense to you, and in now way was my comment rude. I just pointed out the facts. Uncalled for and very rude of you.
Anyway, the "whine" aspect usually comes from those bigger positive displacement supercharger types that have big belts and hefty rotors that create a whining sound. Centrifugal types are a lot quieter. This unit comes with a diverter valve stock, and the guys may have added a blow-off valve. I'm not sure of their setup. But anyway, like a turbo, there is a turbine that is creating greater induction so that extra boost has to be let off in the same manner whenever you let off the throttle. That's why you hear the whistling while it's spooling and the blow-off (which may be diverted back to the intake) when they let off the throttle.
maximus9401 Wow man... That anger came out of nowhere, wonder what crawled up his ass and died..?
x2p428 Wow. Get some anger management therapy or some shit. maximus9401 Just gave his opinion which sounded completely normal.
