    More pre war vehicles please Matt, my favourite era, the 30's, along with immediate post war but still of pre design. Owned a few, one T boned, O/S rear, by a M/C and written off as the chassis was twisted and fractured along with much shattered woodwork, 3 ft forward and I may have been brown bread, the rider landed in a hedge. The TD Garage Inspector estimated his speed at impact at over 60mph. I Found its engine in an auto jumble a few years later at an Agricultural Vintage Show searching for LR parts, recognised from the engraved plate I attached to the block with the date I rebuilt it along with my initials. Sorry you did not find any parts, at least you were disciplined and did not buy stuff.

    "Yes please" to more pre-war content, Matt! Looking at those enamel signs, some heritage railways are often on the lookout for those... but they do get nicked :( Why 'Virol' should be good for nervous people though, I have no idea.

    @ 13:33 . It's "Duck, Son & Pinker"!! They dealt in Musical Instruments, Sheet Music and everything in between (including Church Organ Repair!!). One of those "staple" Bath shops, that was traditional as Christmas in my childhood. Sadly no longer trading from their store, on the side of Pultney Bridge, as they went to administration back in 2011. Today, I believe that someone bought rights to the the name and is trading from a small music store in Bristol though!

    I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I've been to the Beaulieu car museum but not when the autojumble is going on. I know a couple people who have been.
    Our American Equivalent is the famous AACA Hershey PA event held at the Hersheypark fairgrounds, annually in early Oct. Our is such, you can't possibly cover it in one day. The two Americans you met, I'm a bit surprised they didn't bring it up. But I'll bet they are the ones who set up that giant tent on the red field every year which features American LaFrance Fire Engines. Can't miss them.
    Yes, lots of porcelain signs. But over here, you really have to be careful. So many fakes / reproductions around. I have a couple guys on 'speed dial' as it were, when I come across something of interest. It's so easy to get burned. I'm not sure if you have the same problem. It's gotten really bad over here.
    One of these years I'll make it to the Auto Jumble. I'm really into old bikes more than old cars, I saw some motorcycle content - but I'd go just to say I've done it.

    I attended on my honeymoon in 2000. I asked my new wife if she would like to see one of the "treasure houses" of the UK. She thought we were going to see an old house that also had a car museum on site. Imagine her surprise when she showed up and saw the autojumble! After walking through the whole autojumble, she said "That's it? This isn't even one tenth the size of Hershey!" But, she was pretty impressed when I walked up to the Daimler club, told them who I was, and at least a dozen people came up to talk to me, because they'd communicated with me over the internet.

    What day and time was this Matt? It looked very quiet with a severe lack of punters. I think the guy with the piano on his stand was Sam Glover. Not sure if he is still with Practical Classics. Edit - he left in 2020. Last went 2021 after nearly 30 years in a row. It's not a patch on what it used to be. Thanks eBay! 123 grilles are common and cheap.

    It's a tragedy in a way that values are falling for some pre war cars because no one cares now. My Dad knew all the makes and models and could wax lyrical about them having grown up in the 1940's.
    If you did feature pre war cars, you would be providing a service if anything of promoting something I loved seeing in the 70's and eighties. More importantly, educating people about the importance of the early days of motoring.
    I have three or four photos taken at a Brands Hatch Car show event in the early Eighties. It was a delight to find at least one car photographed is still around today

      They peaked a while ago. The generation that was interested in them is getting smaller and smaller.
      It is simply supply and demand.
      But hey buy one and let’s find out in 10 years

    • @terryatkinson899
      @terryatkinson899 Год назад +2

      @ianjenkins4641 you are correct, in my classic club those who know are saying exactly as you did here. We had a classic run for those with them and you can see the owners are nearly the same age as the cars. Nobody else in the club are interested in them. Matt won't listen to sence. Maybe this little car is the exception as it wouldn't take up much space....

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering Год назад +1

      It's been that way for some time, your hoping that people half the age of the cars take an interest in something that was way before their time. Often the reason for interest in an older car is it's relatable. I can't relate to something that far away from my generation sadly. I think 50's stuff will start going the same way soon.
