  • On the evening of March 20, 1995, Julie Ferguson, a 17 year old high school junior, worked her closing shift in the Greenway shopping center in Greenbelt, Maryland. After closing up at 9:25 pm, Julie waited outside for her friends to pick her up. When they arrived at 10:00 pm, they found Julie’s belongings left behind on the curb, but there was no Julie. The police were called, and they quickly determined that Julie had been abducted. Hours later, Julie’s body was discovered a few miles away - she’d been brutally murdered after fighting for her life. It’s been more than 28 years since Julie was killed, and investigators are still searching for the person or people responsible…
Just before 10:00 pm on March 20, 1995, 17 year old Julie Ferguson was abducted outside of the Greenway shopping center in Greenbelt, Maryland. At around 12:30 am, her body was left in the 12100 block of Daisy Lane, where it was later found at around 5:30 am. Police believe a 1988 or 1989 maroon or burgundy Volkswagen Jetta was involved in Julie’s abduction and murder.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477.

Julie was my friend, and we will get justice. This was a good podcast, Derrick, one of the best I have seen. The descriptions of suspects and cars did not come in at the initial time of investigation. The cops were so focused on Doug DaSilva, that they didn’t investigate other areas. For example, they never interviewed me or several other of her male friends, ever, who would obviously have been in her phone records. Had those descriptions been asked about and discussed properly within a closer time frame to her murder, this probably could have been solved sooner. I can’t say more, but I really feel like this will be solved soon. I wish Pat would have gotten the closure and justice she deserved before she died for the most important person in her life. The people involved are going to be caught and punished. I feel it. And when it does, people are going to be shocked, but then start nodding their heads. Thank you, Derrick, for taking the time to put together a professional podcast with all the pertinent and available information, and keeping this alive so long after her death.

I feel so bad that she was taken like that just waiting for friends, thats been all of us before! We've all stood outside our work/other businesses just waiting for our rides! Her poor mother had to know so much loss in her life, losing her husband when her daughter was a baby, and then her only daughter. 2 years ago i los my big brother who was my soulmate of a best friend in a tragic accident, so i appreciateand can atest to what Derreck said at the beginning, cherish your family!! I would literally give a limb to have even just one hour with my brother again, he was the absolute best, and so hilarious, i miss laughing with him the most. Hug your siblings. ❤

She was just a kid, She deserved so so so much better than what happened to her. Rest Julie, we love you and we still hear you.

I went to Roosevelt and was a year behind Julie. I remember when this happened and having so many mutual friends and being in that area regularly, it was so scary being so close to the situation. It’s haunted me all these years and I have continued to follow this story closely. I 100% believe there are people who just haven’t spoken up and hope that eventually it will be solved. This story is a significant reason why I have been so interested in true crime stories.

With you being former LE and a current PI, would they open her case file to you as another set of eyes? It also seems that the car involved would be easier to trace due to make and model.
