Had a schoolmate who, upon seeing his girlfriend get harassed, threatened "Stop that or I'll pull a Columbine on you!" Needless to say, it was reported and he was arrested as soon as he got home. Moral of the story? Never use "Columbine" in any analogy to show what you want to do with bullies. Ever.

I dunno, I quite liked "Eat You Alive" & "Build A Bridge".
Also, you're not alone on still being a LB fan. :D
Despite their flaws, which are mostly Durst's, they never proclaimed to be lyrical geniuses. They just made catchy heavy music that was perfect for the era they lived in. Back then my dad's biggest opposition to me liking Heavy Metal wasn't the satanism or occult like back in the 80s, it was the idea that i would fall for a guy like the ones these artists portayed; the rebellion, the vulgarity, and dumb teens (myself included) eat this shit up. It's why we can't help but fall for the douche alpha male. And tbh, I totally had a crush on 1999-2003 Fred & Wes.

I was never Bizkit fan, but retrospectively I can see their importance in the genre of Hard Rock.
In a genre which at the time was very angsty, aggressive & introspective, thanks to the death/influence of Grunge in the mid 90s. Limp Bizkit were party music. They made choons that got the crowd in the club on the floor & moving. They were a gateway drug for the uninitiated. They weren’t deep, but not everything has to be. The sad part is...theirs been nothing like that in Rock since

Geez, this album must suck hard. I mean, I'm pretty indifferent towards LP (I had better alternatives if I was in the mood for rap metal, like From Ashes to New and Rage Against the Machine), and the only song I heard from this album was "Behind Blue Eyes", and that song put me to sleep if anything else.
But, give Michael Bay some credit, at least he didn't put a Limp Bizkit track in his movies, and they offered some semblance of entertainment. (looking at you, Gothika)

But I honestly don't mind a little rap-metal, with bands like Hollywood Undead, Dangerkids, and From Ashes to New being some of my personal favorites.
Then again, I'm into hard rock and metal, in general. I dunno, I _kinda_ was into some of Limp Bizkit's songs when I was younger, but most of them sounded boring to me. And as I got older, I pretty much cringed at majority of it's discography.

1: Very forgettable. Even more than the last intro song.
2: Jesus, that's creepy as fuck. No, scratch that. It's worse than creepy, it's a fucking stalker track.
3: It's just empty boasting and shitty rapping.
4: Now this was dull and headache-inducing. I don't like this song.
5: Boring and Poorly Written. Moving on...
6: It's mind-numbing and repetitive, and I mean repetitive. Like Frank Miller-levels of repetitive. Seriously, it's like he repeats his lines over and over again.
7: Wow this was fucking boring, I almost fell asleep to this.
8: Only thing that saved this song, was the presence of another rapper. Who is way better than Fred Durst.
9: No. Just no. I almost gave up after listening to this song.
10: Meh. At least this was better than the other tracks. I still didn't like it.
11: Fucking Shit, I've had actual HS students that are actually less whiny than this asshole.
12: This song sucks. Like majority of this album.
13: Well, it was all your fault. If you think Radio is Dead, or dying.
      14: Trash.
15: This is a really bad cover of an otherwise great song. Also, what the hell is with that robot voice? It's really awful and out of place.
16: I'd rather drown than listen to anymore of this shit. Thank god, it's the last track.
So, yeah. Results May Vary managed to be even WORSE than Chocolate Starfish, it's just awful.
This album fucking sucks. It's boring and monotone, and has really repetitive lyrics. It's terrible.
Note: I really liked the Alien Ant Farm cover of "Smooth Criminal", even if that was the only song they're noted for.

      7: Eh, not impressive
      8: Well, I didn't hate it
      9: Fuck no. I'm out.
10: Boring, but not the worst.
11: Fuck, I may have my own bitch fits, but Jesus Christ, I wasn't _this_ whiny in high school.
      12: I didn't like this. At all.
      13: Shit
14: I have no words for this song. I just don't.
15: This song is boring as shit. And, I had this stuck in my head for a *long* time. I blame you, Gothika.
16: I fucking hate this song. But at least it was the last track.
Fuck Results May Vary, it's monotone, it's boring, it's stupid, and it somehow manages to both anger me and puts me to sleep.

  • @jamescaldwell9706
    @jamescaldwell9706 7 лет назад +17

    I have a hypothesis.
Fred Durst continues to have an audience for the same reason we continue to have internet trolls: Because being angry is fun. It takes effort to maintain status as a functioning adult, watching everything we say and do in public lest we upset the delicate balance of civilized life. You make these videos, we watch these videos, Limp Bizkit makes "music", people buy and voraciously defend that "music", all for the same reason: So we can have the momentary satisfaction of lashing out. It doesn't even matter what we're angry about, just so we can get that adrenaline thrill of roaring as loud as we can. It's not healthy, but it's addictive in the long term and incredibly satisfying in the short term -- much like that crack addition you were joking about near the start of the review.
The other big factor is teenage angst. To be that age when we could say shit, get in trouble, and whine about how nobody liked us and life was so hard. Do that as an adult and everyone would think you were a freak. Do that as a kid and nobody cares because you're just a teenager. There is an allure to the notion of never having to grow up, and I think that's ultimately what this is all about -- reliving the glory days of being a teenager. Because even if it sucked in high school, there are some who may genuinely believe that life as an adult is even worse.

In the same way 80's band exploited the SATANIC craze so did NU-METAL bands the fears of the late nineties. Don't hate, but yeah Limb Bizkit is product of its age and doesn't 'age' very well AT ALL. *puke*
Take it from a 31 year old that was 15 at the time... Those nu-metal brads we all hate so much now? Were the scariest thing a mother and father had to DEAL with at that time. Much love my metal brothers and sisters.

Nope. It was even awful for that time. Sure it was a bad time for rock and metal, but here was so many different bands at the time, many a lot better. There was Deftones, there was RATM, there was Tool, and I could go on, all of them thousand times better and more original than Limp Bizkit.

Good music does not age. There is a reason why people listen to music from 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, and so on. There is a reason why people still listen to classical music.which is several centuries old.

Dimmur Borger, Anal Count, Slipknot, Hatebreed, Cradle of Filth, Marilyn Manson although Manson more rhythmic than the others, Anti Christ Superstar definitely scared my parents. I think some of Limp Bizkits songs are still relevant, obviously the ones 15 year old kids listen to. The problem I have with Results May Vary is how disjointed and unfocused this album was.
On one side, some of it is just Durst barking expletives on how misunderstood he is (or in Eat You Alive and Head For The Barricade's case, being a creepy stalker rapist or a violent psychopath, respectively) and on the other, is him feeling depressed and droning on and on about it.
And as for the Behind Blue Eyes cover, it has a decent hook to it but is hindered by the robotic "Speak and Say" in the middle.
Plus the fact that is came out around the same time as Linkin Park's Meteora, it really didn't look too good for Limp Bizkit.

On the plus side, they did get Borland back after this, and The Unquestionable Truth was actually fantastic album. Easily the most genuinely angry thing the band has EVER done, and it tackled some real, social subject matter. And I love it! I still rock out to The Truth and The Priest especially, and those songs still make me want to wreck shit.
...It's a shame they never stuck with that (either that sound didn't sell well-which I don't know what they were expecting considering they dropped the album unannounced and without any radio play at all, or they got scared of being accused of ripping off RATM, or something). Once Fred got whatever was actually bothering him out of his system, they just went back to doing what they were doing in 2001. And it sucked.

    • @princealigorna7468
      @princealigorna7468 7 лет назад +3

Which highlights the problem with Limp Bizkit beyond Durst: an unwillingness to experiment with their sound. Yeah, everyone in the band except Durst is actually a pretty competent musician, but they've been repeating the same chunk-a-chunk riffs over the same breakbeats for the past 20 years, and every time it seems like they're going to do something new (a ballad that shows a little different side, like Boiler or Rearranged; a straight rap song like In 2gether Now, something with genuine rage and fire like The Unquestionable Truth), they abandon it to go right back to what works. And that's why they've been suffering the law of diminishing returns for the past 15 years! So many other nu-metal bands saw the writing on the wall around 2002 and 2003, when As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, and Killswitch first started getting big, and realized they had to do something. Linkin Park went stadium rock. Disturbed went more old-school hard rock/mainstream metal. Saliva embraced the more blues-rock side of their sound.Drowning Pool went more old-school as well. Korn said, "fuck it, we'll do what we want", and one can argue with the results all they want but hey at least they didn't stay stuck. Slipknot actually found the balance between unrelenting heaviness and pop acceptability that I think they completely failed at with Iowa (or as I call it, "Death Metal Backstreet Boys"). Deftones were always the most daring and experimental nu-metal band to begin with, so they just kept doing them and going wherever their muse takes them. Same thing with SOAD. If anything, they managed to get even more weird. Dez folded Coal Chamber and started DevilDriver, which very quickly went from nu-metal to just straight up New Wave of American Metal in like 1 album! Ill Nino went in more of an In Flames-lite direction.
About the only bands from that era that basically kept their sound and maintained there popularity if not got bigger, were Godsmack, Sevendust, and Incubus. And let's be honest...those bands were never really nu-metal to begin with. They were heavy-alternative bands, much more heavily influenced by grunge than by Coal Chamber or Korn. They just got labeled nu-metal because they came out in the late-90's, were heavy bands, and Brandon Boyd likes to rap every now and then (okay....those first like 2 albums, the ones no one ever bought and no one even remembers, were more nu-metal, but everything from Make Yourself on is decidedly NOT).
And then there's Limp Bizkit, who never jumped ship, never changed to suit the times, and is sitting around now wondering where the hell everyone went.

I doubt I'll ever get this message out to Rocked, but here's he reason why Limp Bizkit fans still love the band.
OK, As someone who's not a hard working man (but also a clean guy cause I never did drugs or drank alcohol) with a very dull boring life with very slow process in life. I need someone to vent out my frustration for everything and envy for power and opportunity. Fred Durst in many ways represent ourselves. Losers. Who are mistreated, looked down, made fun of and a desire to rule the world like a god. And we all cry to ourselves when nothing plays out like we wanted.
The melodramatic whiny lyrics reflect on how we truly feel and the edgy, not tough "look how cool I am" kind of style has us wishing that we're like that in public. They love Limp Bizkit because they are sad pathetic losers who can't cut it in life and they listen to their music to convince themselves that they are "kewl" and that everything would be alright, if not vent it all out and root for Fred Durst to continue "speaking for the little guys" and not do a thing to change themselves into better people. Like a symbol. That the fans can believe that a "whiny uncool loser" can be successful. To fulfill their wishful thinking.
And when people like you come in and explain how bad their music is, it's like the harsh picture of reality coming down and hit them really hard like a wrecking ball. It really hurts to be reminded that we aren't doing well with are lives to achieve goals, let alone be happy with a selfish carefree fantasy we desire it to be real. Saying "Limp Bizkit suck because they are a horrible band" is like telling us they "we are lazy, we are obnoxious, we are idiots, etc" Fred Durst is the embodiment of every tempered, self centered, ruthless deadbeat human being that wishes more than what they had.
They have no good defense or points for the band because they themselves are bad. That's not to say every fan is like this, I personally enjoy their sound, beats and I don't have a problem with Durst's vocals. (though his lyrics REALLY could use work) And I'm sure there are plenty of Limp Bizkit fans out there who are better people then they were. With all the millennials being self important stuck up brats you could find on social media nowadays, you have to admit that Limp Bizkit had something that made them money and the reason why they were popular in the first place.
But hey, what do I know? I'm just a nobody.
