I am half Serbian-half British, born in Serbia, but I've lived in the UK for a while now. I could not agree that there are no racist people in Serbia, but there aren't nearly as many as in the UK or the US and their's is a different kind of racism. In the former colonial and neocolonial powers, many people still feel subconsciously superior to ethnic minorities and non-white people in particular. It is passed down generations, embeded in collective mindset and it is systemic. Almost everyone I met in the UK is a covert racist to various degrees and many hold deeply rooted conscious or unconscious racist beliefs/biases, whereas in Serbia a small number of people are just plain ignorant due to lack of experience and lesser familiarity of other races. They may ask a silly question out of curiosity, but they would not feel they are in any way better, superior or even different to you because you are not white. Once they meet you, for example if you visit, as a guest, they will be very welcoming and hospitable regardless of your skin colour. There is a great shame attached to being inhospitable in Serbia.

First you said you are single but then you remembered you are dating a guy..whoops 😱😅 Very awkward but also hillarious 🤣 Also as a serbian person I say this, please take care of yourself, Belgrade is nowhere near as safe as you percieve it to be. Like in any big city, people are more rude and aggressive and street violence is always present.
As a foreigner and expat, legally I am single. When it comes to immigration, banking, and getting medical care, I am single. A person is single until they are married :) Yes, I do have a boyfriend, and he is wonderful, yet navigating living in a country as a foreigner, I am single :)
@blairinbelgradeTV 😁 Yeah you meant "single" more in the legal sense while in Serbia it usually means no emotional attachments (no partner of any kind). It still sounded funny though. I am serious about staying safe in Belgrade especially around the time when an important football/basketball game is being played - there are loads of drunk hooligans on the streets just itching for a reason to pick a fight. Also I remember back when I was studying medicine at the university some 15 years ago there was a serial *apist on the loose praying on women on Autokomanda.
It sounds like African Americans are living in a fantasy land. I hear a lot of African Americans saying that certain Europeans don't see their color. I wish that were true. I lived in 5 European countries, and I've yet to meet those good white folks. I am glad you feel safe in Serbia. I hope it continues. I would love to experience being treated well by Europeans. Good luck!
Serbia, and The Balkans, are very different from Western Europe and Eastern Europe. This is not a "fantasy" rather historically, Serbia instilled in their constitution in 1835 "any enslaved man or woman that comes to Serbia is a free person" so while most of Europe and "The West" were colonizing the world, in Serbia they didn't have slavery. Even further, during Yugoslavia, the government had African students studying as far back as the 50s, and they had the Non-Alliance Movement (equivalent of NATO and UN) with many African and developing nations. I don't know what part of Europe you're in, but Serbia is a great place to be safe and live as a Black person.
Thats because you probobly lived in western european countries .. Slavic People in Balkans are the only europeans who never ever in the history of planet earth had any kind of slavery
The term African American is not used in Europe. To us, anyone with a US passport is an American. Serbia is known for its hospitality. You respect the laws and you have no problem. 🤷
Hello there, thanks for your comment! I think that's a great question. To answer, many Black people don't get to navigate the world carefree like other groups of people. We have to think about racism, prejudice, safety, how we will be treated by locals, the police, immigration, and more. As a solo female traveler, there are more complexities regarding our autonomy and safety in foreign lands. Some places our "race" doesn't matter, as long as you have a strong passport (American or European one). Other places, it's not safe to not only be Black but also to travel as a woman. Everyone deserves to feel safe when they travel. I hope that answers your question :)

"Non-alligned nations" meant that they belonged neither to NATO nor Warsaw pact, not as you stated "not so popular"...
Thanks for putting us on Blair! We welcome black Kings and Queens and all people! ❤
i am a product of the nonalliance movement , god , to think i wouldn't exist , mind blowing !
This is a nice video !Can you do a video or how to find employment before moving there ?
@Shaiyino.thebraveone Thanks!
As for finding a job (as a foreigner), the job market is difficult if you don't speak Serbian and salaries are low. So I recommend starting a business :)

Welcome my sisters ❤❤
Шта вас је навело да одаберете Србију? Моја земља? Да будем искрен, нико не зна за Србију... Ја сам изненађен, ти знаш. Србија је скривени драгуљ. Али добродошли у Србију. Наш дом је ваш дом.
Hello,
I feel like Serbia chose me. I was living in Paris before I moved to Belgrade in 2022, and I picked Belgrade on a map, gave myself a week, and fell in love with the city.
Varaš se da nitko ne zna za Srbiju ... Od kud ti to ?
Ja sam iz Hrvatske ... Prije 11 godina ( 2013 ) nas 3 frenda išli smo u Ameriku .. Dvoje smo iz Hrvatske a treći frend je is Srbije ..kad smo došli u San Diego na aerodrom ,lik koji tamo radi naše Hrvatske putovnice nije prepoznao i pitao nas je od kud smo i gdje se nalazi Hrvatska , a kad mu je frend iz Srbije dao svoju putovnicu ,lik se samo nasmijao i rekao oh hello Serbia ,how are you 😅
Tako da u zabludi si da se za vas ne zna
im taking you to a party when you decide to visit Novi Sad
Systemic racism is such a poison...I can't believe your beauty wasn't celebrated in your home country. You're gorgeous inside out.
I hope you can make Belgrade your home. Home is where your heart is.
Please do a video of Museum of African Arts. The only museum in Europe that has pieces from Africa by gift and not theft.
Will put it on my list of videos to create about Serbia.
you are so cute !
❤❤
I think I'm in love... ❤❤
how can we be enemies when we suffered from same powers?
if you are authentic serbian you simply can not be racist, because racism was aimed against serbs in ww1 & ww2.
black people are welcomed is serbia, and when you learn language you are real serbian, no matter if you are born here or not.
Even before those wars when we were under Ottoman occupation, western countries were delighted. They loved that exotic middle east was near them, as on the other hand, we had nothing of their interest to offer them.
❤
You are beautiful and nice. As a white man i don't care is that woman white or black. All women are beautiful. Really doesn't matter on skin colour.
So now how are the fellas treating you, if you're checking for them? That's the scoop I want in the next video
@@venomousbluefrog Serbian men are gentlemen, and I did meet someone :)
I'll make a video about what it's like saying in Serbia as a foreign woman 🙂
you don't need teeth for beautiful smile, you can make a smile with as little as your eyes
everyone here knows that skin colour is just sun shield, it influences nothing else
we had direct experience with african cultures and not american black culture so we don't prejudice as we are well aware of how diverse people can be, it is not a monoculture unlike in usa
after wars and other crap, we value peace and safety, you can always find help here
food, i am sure you realized we have good food
one thing we need improving is government corruption but that has been a staple of our culture for so long that i worry people may become nostalgic if it ever went away
if you like it here, you plan to stay and improve your life and lives of others and you truly view other humans as your brothers, then you are one of us
we don't care where you were born or how you look
as long as you are one of us, you are one of us
we are genetically diverse nation, being a serb is a cultural thing, not ancestral
of course, we do have one great equalizer

@@sakatababa Thank you for such a thoughtful response.
Serbians are truly kind and have made my time in Serbua truly special. I hope to make Serbia my home long term.
But,hows the stares ?.do they stare alot?
@@kafenelily2125 People only stare at me because I'm beautiful ( that's what they tell me ).
@blairinbelgradeTV lol, that's one way to look at it :)thank you
For me you are not a black woman, for me you are a beautiful soul. Every ordinary serbian don"t even understand concept of race. and detest anglosaxon"s heritage of racial injustice.
Grazie.dalll'italia. Voerei proprio visitare la serbia. Sono italiano e mi vergogno del mio paeee che vi ha bombardati nel 1999.
Dont come! (now - during winter) :D
U will have much better experience during late spring and summer.
Make a list of things that U R interested in and U would like to see, and there R plenty of things to enjoy if U R into food, drinks, laid back vacation, partying, active vacation, sightseeing... U name it. :)
Welcome!
no racism here so i can only imagine and if somebody is "racist" its definitely not nearly or not evne similar as in in other countries
How are you single? You're too pretty to be single! ❤ Greetings from Belgrade!
First you said you are single but then you remembered you are dating a guy..whoops 😱😅
Very awkward but also hillarious 🤣
Also as a serbian person I say this, please take care of yourself, Belgrade is nowhere near as safe as you percieve it to be.
Like in any big city, people are more rude and aggressive and street violence is always present.
As a foreigner and expat, legally I am single. When it comes to immigration, banking, and getting medical care, I am single. A person is single until they are married :)
Yes, I do have a boyfriend, and he is wonderful, yet navigating living in a country as a foreigner, I am single :)
@blairinbelgradeTV
😁 Yeah you meant "single" more in the legal sense while in Serbia it usually means no emotional attachments (no partner of any kind).
It still sounded funny though.
I am serious about staying safe in Belgrade especially around the time when an important football/basketball game is being played - there are loads of drunk hooligans on the streets just itching for a reason to pick a fight.
Also I remember back when I was studying medicine at the university some 15 years ago there was a serial *apist on the loose praying on women on Autokomanda.
it's not a cultural stuff with hair, yes with black's hair and care but braids or locks are absolutely normal. I had locks down to my arse
You're cute.

Westerners had zoos to see black People bruv
You respect the laws and you have no problem.

why do black people always talk about being black we know you're black you don't have to keep talking about it🤦🏻♀️
Hello there, thanks for your comment!
Very ignorant comment. Ask instead of assume. The world doesn’t revolve around your worldview
