More like, it makes people show their true colors. If everyone involved is a decent person - the inheritance process will go smoothly, like it did with my family when my grandfather died. However, if someone's shitty - the inheritance process can become a complete shitshow. My mother has a friend, who had a great relationship with her sister for 30-40 years of their life. That is, up until their mother died, and when it came down to who inherits what - shit completely hit the fan. They both wanted it ALL, so they kept dragging each other to courts for years, calling each other every name in the book and so on. Due to mother's friend being more well off on her own, she ended up just exhausting her sister financially and taking it all because the sister didn't have any money left to keep contesting. And even now, several decades later, when they have to interact (or even just mention each other) - they do it with vitriol, referring to each other strictly on an official second name basis. The same way people in my country usually refer to each other in court. Best part - it wasn't even that big of an inheritance. According to my mom, it was over two small apartments and something like $15-20k in cash. With property prices in my hometown, the entire inheritance would add up to $80-100k - and that's me being charitable. They could've just split it equally - but nah, they both had to get greedy and waste something like half a decade of their lives, while completely ruining the relationship with the ONLY remaining relative they have.

Mindy was projecting hard. She spunds like the type of person who judges others based on their wealth and thought OP's parents did the same since she did. Also, spunds like she realized how badly she messed up in the end and didnt want to cause anymore problems for OP
Mindy should probably know that non-liquid assets, like the house, inherited during the marriage are considered a separate asset in pretty much every state and a spouse cannot make a claim to it during division of assets
If OP's parents did look down on Mindy it would have been well deserved OP's family comes from generational wealth where it gets passed down to ensure future generations have every opportunity to succeed Mindy has the mentality to spend all the money doesn't matter if kids have to take out student loans since momma had an awesome years holiday 2 decades ago
She just wanted to run away from her problems with the money she wanted from the house. The fact that she can't stop talking bad about the recently decreased parents right in the guy's face is a red flag. Good on him for getting the divorce finalized, & glad that she didn't even try to contest the assets in the prenup.
I have noticed that when I woman insist on talking to you or meeting you to discuss something, that’s her telling you she feels as if she can convince you to do anything!!! AND she doesn’t respect you!!!
I've met enough rich people who thought they're down to earth and didn't rub their wealth in peoples faces since they weren't on the receiving end of their behaviour. I'd wait for her side first, but as it stands sounds like she's the AH
Them acting snobby isn't even the biggest issue, the biggest issue is how she felt so aggressively entitled to having her husband sell HIS house and quit HIS job so they could go on a stupid vacation. She was just using that "you look down on me" thing as a way to desperatly make herself the victim even though that wasn't even the most pertinent issue or relevant in any way shape or form.
Imagine n-king your marriage and a lifetime of wealth because you're too proud and stubborn to own up to your actions and words... The only positive thing I can say about Mindy is that, contrary to what a lot of people are commenting, she doesn't seem like a gold digger. A gold digger would've thrown pride out the window and groveled in front of OP and his parents' graves, apologizing profusely to whoever she needed to apologize for, anything to get back in OP's good graces. Personally, I think Mindy is just a narcissist who won't take no for an answer or take accountability for anything.
Right, it definitely sounds like she was jealous and hated them just for having money when she didn’t. It really seems like she wanted nothing to do with them but stayed for the money.
If she really wanted to be a part of the bakery, why didn’t she just ask his brother? Op doesn’t have to be a part owner for her to help at the business. She could even ask her BIL for help to expand her business if they need help. She just sounds lazy. Also, no other option??? All she had to do was apologize. She can feel however she wants but that doesn’t mean she isn’t wrong and still owes him an apology for the wrong stuff she said.
My dad owns his own business, and he has actually been bringing up that one of us should step up and take over…. My youngest brother and I immediately stepped back. I work IT for the company (not director haha. I just got my degree, so I work in the IT team as a regular help desk. I’m adopted and unless you’ve been in my dad’s office, you wouldn’t know we are related. Which is how I like it). My younger brother is in college and runs social media. Our middle brother actually works the job, so we all feel like he should get the company.
I'm quite shocked that both managed the divorce process in quite a mature way, also I think it's likely that she stopped loving op and some point and noticed they weren't made to be together
a non contested divorce isn't difficult. like at all. its harder to open a bag of chips then it is to go through a non con divorce. rich people problems. also inheritance by law is exempt from asset splitting unless the will that the asset came from specifically said "x and family" or "for mr and mrs x" legally speaking depending on prenup he'd get a share of her business. since it was created with (more likely) their money and not just hers.
Yeah great plan sell a mansion for bucket loads of money and throw it all away instantly by going on a dumbass around the world tour. Defo tips from someone who knows how to manage money
It’s pretty clear that she only cares about the money, but apparently one thing she cared more about was her pride, because if she had sucked it up and apologized (and she didn’t even need to be sincere, she can just put on an convincing act) she’d get what she wanted. But instead, she decides to double down and not take accountability, which costed her what she wanted. I’m not supporting her actions, I’m just saying if it wasn’t for her ego, she could’ve won, because the OP (foolishly) considered having her back and gave her that chance.
i was think after reading some comment ... mindy didnt want the money, she wanted him to be poorer than her . I feel like a lot of people jumping to the old reliable gold-digger explanation didn't listen all the way to the end. I mean, that would've been my assumption too if I'd stopped the video a couple minutes earlier, as OP didn't say a damn word about the pre-nup until right at the end... and that she didn't even _try_ to contest it. If she's a gold-digger, she's very bad at it. That's what makes this one so nonsensical. I guess it's more about her drawing her line in the sand (in a very poorly thought-out place) and him drawing his own line in the sand, i.e. "Apologize for saying bad things about my dead parents or I'll divorce you!" and neither one willing to compromise even a little bit. Yeah, if the marriage means so little to both of you (and you're only 3 years in), then nothing of value was lost, I guess. Maybe don't be so quick to get married next time.
Wow, that title is REALLY misleading. Made me think he got some sort of revenge, and that she did some form of crawling back to him. She didn't. They just get divorced.
If money was all that mattered to Mindy, she was still sticking to her guns regarding how she was treated even knowing the marriage was heading south and she would not be sharing in the inheritance. OP may be blind to the treatment she received and not even try to see it from her point of view. Since OP never mentioned any instances that his wife said were examples of this prejudice, was it because there were none or because he didn’t view them in the same light as his wife and blew them off? OP is NTA for not selling the house but he is the AH because never once did he mention what his wife said was the treatment she received so I feel he is being dishonest in his post.
She has serious issues, she's blaming you about all the things she's thinking about. She's selfish because she wants to quit her job because she hates it, and wants OP to quit his as well even though he likes his. She's putting money over the relationship herself, because she is so caught up on how she would enjoy with the money made by selling the property compared to the sentiment
The only one putting money over the marriage is the entitled wife. That’s not her home to sell. It’s ops childhood home. The fact she can just sit there and play a pity party for herself is honestly super disgusting. She’s entitled and doesn’t deserve op.
These stories and real life experiences are making me realize you should marry and date within your tax bracket or the tax bracket you grew up in (Things happen, sometimes you go poor). It all screams jealousy
Clear underlying issues in the marriage. Mindy feels extremely insecure, making outrageous claims because of it. The OP jumping straight to divorce I thought was odd. The first thing that should have been done was couples therapy, going to a professional, not fucking reddit. Both people in the marriage didn't seem committed enough to the marriage. Should have dated longer if they were willing to let a fight cost the whole marriage. Yes what she said was bad but life altering? Was this really something that couldn't have been attempted to be worked past?
@@Demyxu I mean she got a prenup. I'd doubt she'd ever agree to marry if that's all she wanted. I feel that there were some mental issues that a professional could've identified.
He was grieving the loss of his parents and she waited until then to start talking bad about them. Not just the money, but also insulting him- as he said in the story. That's grounds for a divorce because that IS a moment that can change your perspective of your spouse forever. Plus, she stuck to her guns. Couples therapy isn't the miracle cure people think it is because it really doesn't change people, it just helps their communication. But there was no taking back her behavior at this painful time for him.
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 She spoke ill of the dead. That is bad but grounds for divorce? Something lifelong? I don't think so, even the op said that he was hoping she would apologize, and it definitely wasn't divorce at that point. It came to a point where they were both too stubborn, that's where a marriage councilor should have come in. Yes the argument devolved into insults, however according to him his marriage and dating was going well up to this point (at least 3 years) and they had one fight the devolved into insults. I'm sorry but a fight devolving to insults shouldn't be a deal breaker either. Couples therapy isn't a miracle nor did I say it was. According to the OP the marriage was going strong until this point, I was saying that they both should have tried harder to save it. Honestly they both seemed so uncommitted, they really should've dated longer clearly.

i dont really think she was after the money, i think she had an inferiority complex, and that painted a story in her head, that story put herself as cinderella. think is, people usually dont apreciate when you tell them that you view them and their parents as the evil stepmother and stepsisters that cinderella had. if you then cant apoligize for that... i mean, what you expect? is clear that there were some issues there, probably ones that could be solved with some help
yeah say the same think, it's inferiority complex here . she want him to quit his well pay job, him to blow his inheritance ... she need him to stop having more money than her like that she will not feel inferior ... she cleary need huge therapy here ... and to be like that only at 30 y after only 3 years of mariage ... i understand the divorce , hard to build somethink here before she work hard on herself .
Sounds like my family , not to this extent but u know the saying a luxury vehicle in front a middle class house is why they stay middle class? They’re the god damn textbook example for that, and I’m not saying just one vehicle 💀
Not listened at all yet, but from the title this woman takes as a personal affront any money coming in that she could not legally immediately spend, because the sensation of it burning her pocket is too much.

Mindy should probably know that non-liquid assets, like the house, inherited during the marriage are considered a separate asset in pretty much every state and a spouse cannot make a claim to it during division of assets
If op got the business he would 100% gave it to his brother since its not fair since the brother spend his time knowing and op has no experience
If OP's parents did look down on Mindy it would have been well deserved
OP's family comes from generational wealth where it gets passed down to ensure future generations have every opportunity to succeed
Mindy has the mentality to spend all the money doesn't matter if kids have to take out student loans since momma had an awesome years holiday 2 decades ago
She wants their money but dislikes them! She’s foul!
She just wanted to run away from her problems with the money she wanted from the house. The fact that she can't stop talking bad about the recently decreased parents right in the guy's face is a red flag. Good on him for getting the divorce finalized, & glad that she didn't even try to contest the assets in the prenup.
The house can’t be gotten. Inheritance is non marital assets
@@axinhedgelion8417 Kind of why she was trying to force the OP to sell the house, since she otherwise can't touch it.
She sounds very much like a narcissist. I wish I'd had the clarity to handle my narcissistic ex like this. It saves so much inevitable trouble.
Imagine if OP told his wife to sell her parents home and send them to nursing home so she can gift OP a fancy watch.
She really said "Putting wealth over her and our marriage"
No, ma'am, that is you to OP
I have noticed that when I woman insist on talking to you or meeting you to discuss something, that’s her telling you she feels as if she can convince you to do anything!!! AND she doesn’t respect you!!!
Remember OP all this is an inheritance and Mindy is not entitled to any of it. Get rid of her and her gold digging ways.
@@kossettereaditte7552not just any house, his CHILDHOOD HOME
Inheritance is like you using magic to bring out people’s true colors
"If we can talk, you'll understand my side and forgive me"
In other words, "I am right to trash your parents and I'll prove it."
Absolute red flag, lord have mercy for the OP.
Mindy is the type if wealth is dumped on her she'll definitely be showing it off.
I swear all these reddit stories have me baffled about how lucky I am with my wife 💀
Don't give up you're family home.
Big Red Flag. Shes all about the money
Hahaha, he's waiting for her to apologize and admit what she said re: his family was wrong?! yeah - good luck
She literally hates him and his family.
Right, it definitely sounds like she was jealous and hated them just for having money when she didn’t. It really seems like she wanted nothing to do with them but stayed for the money.
I can tell OP is British
As a former diaper shitting toddler, I can understand the wife's frustration.
Im surprised she didnt cry abuse or claim the silver bullet in divorce to get all of his stuff
That attitude towards his parents is a major red flag to me
She'll be back. At the very least, she'll be blaming OP.
divorce her, she is a gold digger because you wont take her on a vacation
Yeah great plan sell a mansion for bucket loads of money and throw it all away instantly by going on a dumbass around the world tour. Defo tips from someone who knows how to manage money
6 month vacation is an impossible ask, so that she can justfiy cheating or something else
Now I ain’t sayin she a gold digger, but she ain’t messing w no broke -
Trash cleaned itself.
"I ain't sayin' she's a gold....."
Wait. Sorry. I AM saying she's a golddigger.
Dude she is a golddigger, best course of action is to divorce.
She will be your ruin if this continue.
“Pushing wealth over marriage”😂
Every time op says apologize. I do 1 push up
i was think after reading some comment ... mindy didnt want the money, she wanted him to be poorer than her .
She say it, she thinking his parent look down on her because she didnt have money, she want him to quit his job because he make more money than her and want to sell the inheritance and blow it because after that he will have no more money than her ...
i think she cleary have an inferiority complex over money ... his parent, op, and pretty sure the next target will be op brother .
All she had to do was apologize bruh
She is a gold digger. She wanted OP to give up his life, the career he loved, and his family home to prove his loyalty and obedience to her.
Wow, that title is REALLY misleading. Made me think he got some sort of revenge, and that she did some form of crawling back to him. She didn't. They just get divorced.
This woman saw dollar signs and just ran for it like a bull
get a divorce she is a gold digger whether you can see it or not
Mindy runs the finances of her business? No wonder it’s not doing well.
She wanted to meet him in person to “explain her side” because she can’t manipulate him through sex over the phone.
Money Money Money, Mindy is just in it for the money
I really do wonder how these men find these awful women. Jesus…
She only cares about the money why would you keep her
Mindys greed knows no bounds
The only one putting money over the marriage is the entitled wife. That’s not her home to sell. It’s ops childhood home. The fact she can just sit there and play a pity party for herself is honestly super disgusting. She’s entitled and doesn’t deserve op.
you cant forgive someone who never apologized.
These stories and real life experiences are making me realize you should marry and date within your tax bracket or the tax bracket you grew up in (Things happen, sometimes you go poor). It all screams jealousy
Zero fucking accountability whatsoever
Mindy was definitely cheating
Clear underlying issues in the marriage. Mindy feels extremely insecure, making outrageous claims because of it. The OP jumping straight to divorce I thought was odd. The first thing that should have been done was couples therapy, going to a professional, not fucking reddit. Both people in the marriage didn't seem committed enough to the marriage. Should have dated longer if they were willing to let a fight cost the whole marriage. Yes what she said was bad but life altering? Was this really something that couldn't have been attempted to be worked past?
I'd divorce someone if I found out that they were a severe gold digger and were only obsessed about getting my money.
@@catneedslogic9836inheritance is non marital assets
"You won't give up your career and childhood home to give me fleeting entertainment? You're selfish!"
"Sure my feelings *aren't reality* but you should respect them!"
lol the story start by her quitting her job to start a business but a 5 min we learn she "hate working"
sure , entrepreneur don't work lol ... she look like a SAHW who "work" as influenceur with 200 follower lol
edit
so he put money over her when SHE require him to sell his childhood house, a "generation house" for her to travel around the wold ? at 30 y old after only 3 year of mariage ?
that gazlight OMG
i dont really think she was after the money, i think she had an inferiority complex, and that painted a story in her head, that story put herself as cinderella. think is, people usually dont apreciate when you tell them that you view them and their parents as the evil stepmother and stepsisters that cinderella had.
if you then cant apoligize for that... i mean, what you expect? is clear that there were some issues there, probably ones that could be solved with some help
yeah say the same think, it's inferiority complex here .
she want him to quit his well pay job, him to blow his inheritance ... she need him to stop having more money than her like that she will not feel inferior ...
she cleary need huge therapy here ... and to be like that only at 30 y after only 3 years of mariage ... i understand the divorce , hard to build somethink here before she work hard on herself .
Glad he divorced her. She's a gold digger
She leaves you after insulting you, but your wrong for not being her piggyp bank she wants your money not you
Sounds like my family , not to this extent but u know the saying a luxury vehicle in front a middle class house is why they stay middle class? They’re the god damn textbook example for that, and I’m not saying just one vehicle 💀
Mindy is definitely money hungry, I wouldn't be surprised if she were a golddigger.
A banking goblins love story
Not listened at all yet, but from the title this woman takes as a personal affront any money coming in that she could not legally immediately spend, because the sensation of it burning her pocket is too much.
