This is one of the best comments I’ve seen in a while. Thank you for knowing your skills and limits. A lot of new guys take on jobs without being ready. It’s even harder to admit you don’t know everything. You got the correct attitude that will allow you to become good at your job.
Alex also helps out the pro guys, I have had my own shop for 34 years and a decade at a Cadillac dealer before that I have a ticking pentastar in a 2014 T&C coming in first one for me, I am going to watch every one of the videos Alex has and he does a lot of those, I have done a 5.7 hemi cam and lifters so this should be easy

As a single father i do my best, n when my car malfunction i do what i can but dont always know past the obvious stuff. Glad u help keep them honest. Make it the start of a change

As a business owner and shop owner, I struggle all the time with altercations with customers, sometimes you just have to let them know, they don’t like it they can go somewhere else. As harsh it is to say something like that to someone., it never gets easy, but you have to stand your ground, especially if you know what you did was right and good and you went above and beyond then you have every right to speak your truth
I love watching you guys and the family aspect of running a business can be stressful I am sure. I totally respect your work ethic and your quality of work. So hard to find today. Keep your head up and realize that Karma will take care of those who are good people. The world can be tough but people like you keep my faith that there are good people out there doing the right thing.
I use to work at jeep dealership mechanic shop. Sometime The abs steering angle dtc is caused by the bad car batteries. The steering angle sensor needs to be calibrated at the dealership

I got a 5 inch lifted 2000 4Runner on 33 inch Mickey Thompson Baja boss tires ! I would love to show you it ! 291k miles ! And runs like new ! No check engine light and don’t burn a drop of fluids !
This reminds me of the shop my wife works at. Owner is Jamaican, his son and daughter both work there. They're kids are being raised at the shop. Part of my wife's day is watching Daniel tiger with the littlest one lol.

Those ford/mazda engines have 2 coolant temp sensors. One on the radiator and one on the coolant outlet. Sensors have different model numbers and diff voltage readings. Spent a week on one with a false overheating reading.
Love your videos. I wish you were here in Goodyear Az... a shop tried to charge me $100 just to tighten my lugs on my Chrysler 300c . i was like 😳 no way, drop my car...lol

I found your videos pretty recently. Been a “mechanic” for about 6-7 months now. Started at valvoline then got taken in by a small shop like yours. Run by the master mechanic and his wife, with the kids around. It’s cool to see their side of it, and what they deal with. Gives some insight on how they might make decisions or how my decisions may affect them.
Yes!!! Sounds like my shop lol but as owners we deal with a lot. But my main thing is taking care of my employees! They are my family too. I’m sure your shop is the same

Alex! Ive seen these jeeps burn the pigtail up for the front sway bar. Is caused so many strange issues that made no sense whatsoever. Took a while to figure it out tbh 😂
Shon abandoned cars are always a problem, I used to have 4 or 5 in my lot all the time, I do not do it that way anymore, I do not charge storage I give someone 48 hours to come get their car then I call the local PD, they tow is they send the letters yes I get no money but I am happy with that, then if they want to give someone a hard time it will be the guy with the gun and tazer
In repair link, that house had a bown circle pointing to the hose, in the top left corner there was a brown circle with a part number you can click. Thats what you need. Ford does that A LOT. Hope that helps
I have 5 kids, all girls, and the youngest is 14 just two left at home, I wish I would have started my own business many years ago when the oldest was a little one, would have allowed me to spend a lot more time with the kids and not miss out with the many work related trips out of town.

Or take the title and sell them the vehicle so they can get paid and move on.

A sign in the shop describing what Car Shield will NOT pay for may give your customers a heads-up in advance. They may be less inclined to take it out on you when Car Shield gives them the shaft. Unfortunately being an honest technician can sometimes be very challenging. I ran the numbers for opening a shop once upon a time, and I did not think I could make it without the right mechanics. I left out the human nature part of the equation that you have to deal with on a regular basis.
Feel you guys. Is it possible for ya'll have a written repair agreement that spells out the consequences of leaving a vehicle, regardless of outcome, beyond a reasonable time - 30 days - forfeited? Is that possible in GA? If so, consider adding it to your paperwork pre-repair agreement. God bless you Alex and wife, and keep you safe!
Yes we have a written agreement that they sign and they still abandon them 😩. But we are starting the process to take ownership of them, but it’s not so cut and dry in Georgia
isn't there a mechanics lien or something like towing companies do that get to keep the car after a certain time has passed abandoned? I know they are technically garbage but you could get your money out of it that way?

SO glad, I found your channel! Dumb question. Can you do the dye test knowing that there is a hole in the radiator? My mom had her water pump replaced, mechanic said stop every 20 min and fill with water (air out the lines.) She didnt. Drove 200 miles, overheated, had it towed home. Mechanic in our hometown (small town) said blown head gasket. I asked how much he charged & tests ran. She said he didn't charge anything but showed her the torn gasket seal. 🤔 I'm wondering since there is clearly a hole in the radiator, could that be the issue or a hose? It's alot of work to get to the head gasket, to do it for free? Don't sound right. Omg😂 smokin imaginary cigarettes😂😂 💀 Shoot!!! Need to sell those abandoned cars! I've been wrenching & learning on RUclips for 2 years! If those are good cars, I'll come to ATL from KC in a heartbeat!! Y'all are an amazing team!
No such thing as a dumb question! 😃if there’s clearly a hole in the radiator, definitely start with that. Do a combustion test (I call it a block test) to see if mom indeed blew the head gasket when it overheated. You can also do a pressure test to identify any other leaks. P.S my wife smokes her imaginary cigarettes when she is stressed or upset. 😂 her way of calming down instead of smoking for real 😩

i was going to say dont buy a jeep because of the quality. but it appears from the corrosion on the gaskets that there was poor coolant maintenance.

A sign in the shop describing what Car Shield will NOT pay for may give your customers a heads-up in advance. They may be less inclined to take it out on you when Car Shield gives them the shaft. Unfortunately being an honest technician can sometimes be very challenging. I ran the numbers for opening a shop once upon a time, and I did not think I could make it without the right mechanics. I left out the human nature part of the equation that you have to deal with on a regular basis.
Feel you guys. Is it possible for ya'll have a written repair agreement that spells out the consequences of leaving a vehicle, regardless of outcome, beyond a reasonable time - 30 days - forfeited? Is that possible in GA? If so, consider adding it to your paperwork pre-repair agreement. God bless you Alex and wife, and keep you safe!
Yes we have a written agreement that they sign and they still abandon them 😩. But we are starting the process to take ownership of them, but it’s not so cut and dry in Georgia
Use a thermal camera on that wrangler.
isn't there a mechanics lien or something like towing companies do that get to keep the car after a certain time has passed abandoned? I know they are technically garbage but you could get your money out of it that way?

SO glad, I found your channel! Dumb question. Can you do the dye test knowing that there is a hole in the radiator?
My mom had her water pump replaced, mechanic said stop every 20 min and fill with water (air out the lines.)
She didnt. Drove 200 miles, overheated, had it towed home.
Mechanic in our hometown (small town) said blown head gasket. I asked how much he charged & tests ran.
She said he didn't charge anything but showed her the torn gasket seal. 🤔
I'm wondering since there is clearly a hole in the radiator, could that be the issue or a hose? It's alot of work to get to the head gasket, to do it for free? Don't sound right.

No such thing as a dumb question! 😃if there’s clearly a hole in the radiator, definitely start with that. Do a combustion test (I call it a block test) to see if mom indeed blew the head gasket when it overheated. You can also do a pressure test to identify any other leaks.
P.S my wife smokes her imaginary cigarettes when she is stressed or upset. 😂 her way of calming down instead of smoking for real 😩

I wasn't sure if I could do a pressure test or block test with the radiator blown. Haven't had time to dig into it if I have to get to the head. That's above my skillset 😂 I mean??? I may give it a whirl if I have too but whoaaa I sure don't want to. Thank you for the reply.

As a business owner and shop owner, I struggle all the time with altercations with customers, sometimes you just have to let them know, they don’t like it they can go somewhere else. As harsh it is to say something like that to someone., it never gets easy, but you have to stand your ground, especially if you know what you did was right and good and you went above and beyond then you have every right to speak your truth.
Also, being that I am a Bisexual man, gay folks will bring me they’re car am expect some big discount or do some crazy payment plan for them bc we both part of the gay community. Oh nooooo
