  • After two good solid runs with the Axial Yeti. I figured it was time to do a Review / Overview video on my overall thoughts and opinions.
    First off I want to say, that even though there are some minor flaws about this rig and MAYBE I WAS A LITTLE TOO HARD ON IT IN THE VIDEO :) I just want you to be aware of some of the problems and things you can expect when getting a yeti....
    the overall experience is honestly amazing thought!!!!!.
    Considering I have only owned now 5 RC vehicles ever. I can say that this Axial Yeti is by far my favorite of them all!
    With that said I encourage you too watch the video to see some of the good an bad things about this rig.
    DISCLAMER - ***These thoughts and opinions are strictly my own. They were not influenced by other people nor am I looking to judge a company. You can take my opinions as you wish. I do not work, nor am I affiliated with Axial Racing.****
    Thanks For watching!
    Be sure to check out the first 2 running videos of the Axial Yeti!

    also you must re-enforce the rear lower arms with q - bond power & glue kit , diff covers will give you a problem , fix .. add some soft washers a lil larger than the screw heads , theses will hold the cover on !

    I'm contemplating a Yeti, and to be aware of any shortcomings beforhand is very helpful. I don't mind the need for upgrades - tinkering and upgrading is part of the experience, and now I can get the parts it needs right away :-) Thanks very much!

  • @ColtonB
    @ColtonB 9 лет назад +2

    I just got a Yeti. Don't plan on bashing it as hard as you did. I just loved the concept and design of these Axial RCs so I had to get one; planning on upgrading it quite a bit. The first part to go missing on mine is an upper steering knuckle pin...the sad thing is I work at HobbyTown and I just now noticed I needed a part after I got home from closing haha!

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 лет назад

      Colton B Haha no worries man, that was the last time im going to beat on it like that! haha...And that a huge bummer man, but at least you work for a place were you can get parts relatively easy! be sure to watch the build series on this Yeti, to possibly give yourself some ideas! :)

    • @ColtonB
      @ColtonB 9 лет назад

      I will most def watch your builds...I need to know what upgrades are actually necessary although I have an idea. Wish I had more time to fully edit and produce better uploads. College and work take up nearly all mt time. I try to fly or roll whenever I can which happens to be late at night freezing my fingers haha

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 лет назад +1

      In my opinion...Anything you can do to the suspension system is probably going to be your more " necessary" upgrades that you should perform first. I also know what you mean, Try working 45 hours a week, coming home to a 3 year old, taking care of a house, shooting videos, keeping up with all of the trucks, researching information, editing, and keeping the website up to par, all the time! Haha. but just take your time and have fun right now, your in college! Don't worry how well your videos are right now. practice filming. then one day when you get more time you will have a lot of the techniques down and you will be shooting better videos and better editing it in your spare time!

    input on the servo: ditch the crappy servo horn and that 151oz/in servo should be plenty for non-rockcrawler setups, for crawler usage, I'd go to a 333oz/in or more, you aren't going to see much difference between a 151oz/in and a 208oz/in servo...

    if you run a plastic diff , epoxy the pinion bearings into the orifice , they wont shift around and ruin the bearings.

  • @Orion13622

    The minor flaws only exist due to the fact that the factory ready to run setup didn't have a 3S Lipo in it. Once you introduce that type of power, the plastic parts are going to break. They can't stand the torque. Helion's Animus is the same way, people are cramming 3S Lipos in this thing, and it's only designed to have a 2S at most. Not to mention the fact that it breaks the plastic parts. Well going from the 1100MAh NiMH stock battery to a 2S Lipo, yeah, that's gonna happen. Just sayin...

    Nice overview!!! Do you think it would have "survived" a little longer on 2s??? Also... I've heard that the tire rim issue is due to the tires... Not sure.. I read somewhere that they cleaned up the rims and tires with rubbing alcohol and it helped a bit... Maybe worth a try... I really want one regardless of the issues...

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  10 лет назад

      honestly I don't know...my opinion yes...But how much longer I can not say, as I haven't tested that out. I haven't really looked into fixing the tire issue much. but I may give that a try. thanks!

    I have broke the pass side front inner and outer knuckles and the steering servo so far and could not keep the tires on the wheels so i super glue them on but the aluminum aftermarket stuff has lasted so far. Also have stripped out the wheels even after the upgrade so have aluminum wheels also on the way.

      Rogers Towing Yea unfortunately that definitely one this about this rig, Is that it like to break a lot of parts! I little too over powered for the plastics that are on it IMO. none the less though its still a lot of fun to drive!

    Hi, I am getting a Yeti and gonna take it back to my country and unfortunately the parts wouldn't be available to me. So I have thought of buying everything before I leave (Almost). Till now, I have got the:
    1. vanquish Links.
    2. Lower/Upper Plate set (Axial)
    Need Information on a waterproof high torque servo and what all is required to Improve the steering. If possible can u list down the parts or their number for me. That would really help me once for all.
    Thanks.

    ,,,Nor want the Vanquish rims because they are too heavy for this application. Higher speed vehicles need lighter wheels to minimize unsprung weight and rotational inertia.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 лет назад

      iceplanetRC No... The vehicle as a whole is a pretty awesome! However their are a few flaws and issues that not only have I run into, but others as well. Most of these problems that I discussed on this vehicle is the result of operating the vehicle under 3s Lipo conditions. If the vehicle was powered by a 2s Lipo battery most... if not all, of these problems may not even exists. The main reason you may find some people complain about these problems like myself, is because Axial promoted this vehicle with the use of 3s lipo and how great it would be. But many of us have run into multiple problems in the stock form using 3s lipo and were very disappointed that the truck just cant seem to handle it stock, for more then a run or two without breaking. Otherwise like I had said before, this truck really is a lot of fun to drive for what it is.
