D, huge fan of the show, was wondering if you’ve had Joe Wagner’s Quilt line and your thoughts? Loved Buena Vista thank you for recommending it so highly, cheers!
I just love your show, I look forward to every Sunday. I usually work on Sundays, & it always drops when I'm on my lunch break & I watch it in my car lol. I always write down the wines you are tasting & add them to my list. I buy a little at a time from my local ( total wine and more ) store here in northern California. Thanks you for what you do. You are very enjoyable to watch.
Great review, D! I’m also impressed by how well the 2016 Cabs are holding up. Think they will get even better in a couple years. Curious if you think 16s are better than the 18s for good Napa Valley Merlot (Duckhorn, Nickel & Nickel, etc)? Thanks, and keep up the great videos!!
Great review D. I haven’t tried many 2018 Napa Cabs, as the bottles I do have from 2018 are in the cellar aging. I would think across the board the 2016 vintage is a safer vintage for the consumer as much less fires in Napa compared to ‘18. I have heard of issues with smoke taint in the ‘18 vintage. Curious of your thoughts on this topic. Thank you and as always 🍷
@@decantswithd Antonio Galloni talked about smoke taint in the 2018s but it was only for Howell Mountain so he just said be careful with Howell Mountain. I guess the smoke from the Mendocino fires in 2018 made it's way to Howell. Nonetheless the rest of the 2018s are unbelievable.
Thanks for your Napa Valley recommendations. I have found them to be helpful, as well as tasty!

Yes, but not enough and not recently.
So can not give a recommendation.
Will revisit.

Thanks so much, Michael!
Thank you for the video!
I was thinking it would be fun to do a blind tasting when you do the 2 different years.
You are right. I tried to be objective, but a blind tasting would have been even better.

It was cool that you had 3 sets of wine to show how vintages can and probably will taste different!
Thanks again
D...I think you're fantastic. One thing you cannot fake is Passion, and you certainly have that. Thank You for the great videos . Richard
Thanks Richard!

Thanks Nathan!
I did not have that many 18 Merlots yet.
But likely, it’s the same story.

Thanks Cory.
Thanks Cory! No, 2018 is fine.
In the 2017 vintage you need to watch out for smoke damage. And of course, 2020 was totally destroyed.

2013 should be in the discussion
