Since Luffy's power is limited to his knowledge and as flexible as his imagination, all of what he did makes sense, from a very ignorant perspective. What Luffy 'thinks' is stuff like "I could grab clouds in skypeia, we're high enough for those clouds, so I can grab these too" and "If my power can make the ground bouncy, then it can do the same with lightning" it makes sense from a toon force perspective, but there is a logic to it. It makes sense why Oda made Luffy a gullible idiot that believes anything, because with his power, believing in something is enough to make it real. But you need to be ignorant of that knowledge to make it work.
No we don’t. Toei does a great job animating, but other than that they’re extremely mediocre. Toei never fails to ruin a perfect manga (DBS, One piece, etc). They always ruin the pacing and drag it on WAYY too long, and they change up a lot of things. Anybody who’s read DBS or One piece agrees.
The director for the episode was Nanami michibata(1017/925/ 1057/1003 etc)and she's good friends with ishitani. Ishitani hasn't directed an episode since 1015 but she did storyboards for 1072 and directed the new opening. Animation director was Kazuya Hisada who is a long time staple of toei going back to when he was just a key animator on DB back in the 80s and 90s. He was also on 1028
i was wondering who did the direction for this cause it seemed on a higher quality level than usual, yet it didn't strike me as ishitanis style. but yeah if shes good friends with her i would totally believe that. this ep is up there with 1015 for me personally.
He fought too many battles so offcoarse his durability is high . And haki is superb. I don't think even shanks and mihawk have this amount of durability

In live action they really showed him as the strongest of all the swordsman. He doesn't even obey garp. Oda is making a new one piece in live action😌

As a manga reader this chapter was not heavy on fighting so i was not expecting it to be great but man was i wrong toei went nuts for this one with extended fight scenes from luffy and kaido!! biweekly one piece is crazy!!!!

Typically, this is a clear evidence that luffys power can grab anything he wants to grab, even lightning he turns to rubber if he wants it, also clouds. So even the fire, light, water anything now is can be grab by luffy now.
Man. Michael, I have no words but shocked by the quality of this episode animation, OMG, it's peak level in all anime. On par with Demon Slayer Tengan vs Upper Six. wow, it's better than Zoro vs KING.and the new Opening...wow
Personally I would have loved if instead of a giant fist, he turned his fist into a giant anvil. It fits both for tune physics, and for the theme of Kaido "Forging" the whole country into weapons, so Luffy "forges" him into a well cooked yonko. Bonus points if the anvil hits in just such a way that Kaido's body deforms all rubbery into a shape like a bowl, so instead of a weapon he's turned into something people eat out of.
