Updated review on this product: I have used it extensively on a custom wall unit I built and did all my hand sanding with the mirka using 220 grit over wood painted a dark gray. I am using a dewalt vaccum system and I have noticed it does not suck up all the dust as it claims. I am not sure if it's because there is not enough suction or for it to be truly dustless you would need to use the Mirka vaccum it's designed for?
A few things I do like is it keeps the dust down and the sanding block is big enough to cover large surface areas quickly and allows sanding with even flat pressure. I recommend it for those reasons alone.

Thanks for the clear video and the update. I have not tried the product yet and neither have a Mirka vacuum system, but I doubt a Mirka vacuum system will make much of a difference. In the end, it's just lot's of air being sucked up. I can imagine that a wider hose and coupling point could make a difference. You mentioned that the hose is 20mm. How would this work if there would be a 32mm, 35mm or even wider hose...

How does this compare to a regular (electric) orbital sander that also has proper suction holes and sanding net instead of regular sand paper, like a 125MM/5" or 150MM/6" round one or a rectangular one? Which machines did you compare it with? I am deciding between this Mirka sanding block and a rectangular orbital sander and looking for the best dust extraction possible. For me, an electric machine is slightly preferred due to less work, but the Mirka ones are very expensive (although they seem to have the best dust extraction due to the many hole on all sides and corners). If the hand sanding block does make a difference, it is enough for me to purchase this hand sanding block too.
    Thanks again!

      Hi,
Bottom line, it's manual labor vs. electric sanders that do the work for you. If you wanna do light sanding, basically just scuff sanding that doesn't require much force, then this will be fine, which is what I used it for in the past. Since making that video, I haven't used It much since. I bought a festool orbital sander with the vacuum, and it's well worth the investment as I use it a lot. I would look into that before going with mirka products. Thanks for watching!
