1. Sandbox
2. Fleet or Army Building
3. Mercenary
You now have my full and undivided attention.
Play X4 Foundations then while you wait for this one. It's amazing, but steep learning.
got me interested to
I’ve been looking for something closer to Wing Commander. =]
@@FlyingDragoon8 I am so ready for Kingdom's End! Finally, the Boron are coming home!
you should try Rebel Galaxy
17:33 under Docking there is a Red Note that reads 'Note: Manual station docking is not currently implemented in the game'
everyone knows splat cant read red, bold, or flashing text
Also you need a cargo hold for the trading
Wishlisted just because of the overzealous AI Drifting into position by accident.
Splat is the grandmaster loothound, salvages everything in sight. I guess like a Jawa salvaging parts from other people's vehicles and ships.
I can get behind that Splat is a possible Jawa
Splat has mentioned multiple times that he’s a short, short person, and nothing about wearing a burlap robe in the desert so obviously, he’s a jawa.
In X4 there's a hotkey to match speed with your (at the time of clicking) current target. Super handy for escorts. Something like that would be great here.
X4 is so underrated it pains me
@@Blackd0nuts They suffered a lot from a buggy and bare bones release, it's absolutely incredible now though.
On the Steam page they have a gif of a ship's cockpit in action that looks like straight up like an Anvil Hornet cockpit layout, instantly wishlisted XD. Thanks for bringing some eyeballs to this one Splat, looking forward to playing it and seeing what Propulsive does with it going forward post release!
The thumbnail for this video looked so much like a Pieces.
20:48 the enemy ship is a Drake Buccaneer
wing commander was best game for the 386... role playing, dog fights, great performance given the hardware of the time.
There was a game very similar to this one called House of the dying sun that came out in 2016. Its a first person dog fighting rts fleet management game as well but without the open-world aspect to it. The game was so good but ended to fast, had me itching for something like it ever since. I'm definitely going to check Space Reign out.
Immediately reminded me if that too, i loved the sounds in that game.
@@mouseseventyfour The feel of the ships, the immersive sound design, some of the lore excerpts, the game really did immerse me. I go back to it every year or so and give it a playthrough.
Yeah, I got the hotds vibe too. (Incidentally it's feckin' awesome in VR!)
Though this isn't nearly as polished or intuitive (yet).
I loved hotds, the flight mechanics were good.
I really like the target camera. It increases the immersion.
Yeh, would love to see that in star citizen but might be hard on servers
X3: Albion Prelude has that. The other X games may have it too.
RIP Trevor, gone but not forgotten.
Splat doing the good work and shining light on gems. Appreciate you, bud!
I didn't expect that Freelancer 2003 has that much spiritual successors
Maybe this will the one!
@@ActionMan1979 Well i played Freelancer then i stopped playing after i've completed the Main Story and the Corsair ship, so i'm still searching for another Freelancer-like game, Star Valor and Starsector is 2D Freelancer
@@EboyPlaysMurderDrones I don't like Starsector, but i'll take a look on Star Valor. Thanks.
The missile interception itself was worthy enough. Nice simple trail, corrections and hit (IN SYNC!!!), then the explosion. Nicely done indeed.
Seems like someone liked ED and made a similar game, but it's actually worth playing lol.
have added it to my wishlist looks promising. great vid as always
Hey man, hope you're doing well
The appeal of salvaging in these kinds of games is that you get to put your enemies where they belong; the cargo bay in nice standardized chunks of material.
A few suggestions; in case the dev is reading these comments...
- Get rid of the pitch ladder; it's redundant clutter in the cockpit.
- simplify the missile firing process; get rid of the arming ('R') stage and simply have the missile's tracking always active.
- black out the area behind the virtual radar; far too easy for contacts to be washed out by the background.
- increase the transparency of the cockpit glass texture; the crazing on the cockpit can be distractingly visible.
- contracts shouldn't be hidden away inside the tactical screen. It'd be more immersive & intuitive to have them accessed through the craft's MFDs. (a'la Wing Commander)
This is literally space Mount and Blade we always wanted! Just wished there was some space station raiding fps gameplay. The mount and blade star wars mod was cool for that!
With a little more polish on ship textures and some small QOL improvements (a match speed key for example) this game could really shine.
Nice! It reminds me a lot of Elite Dangerous and Babylon 5: I've Found Her. Very interested in seeing how this turns out.
An option to match speed with your target would be cool.
Target camera is weird because it does not have the perspective as if looking from your POV.
This has my attention, I wonder if you can make your own stations, how salvaging works, if there’s smuggling, how big are the “big” ships, and most importantly is it multiplayer?
The walk of shame happens to many players & streamers It's because too many are always in a hurry. XD
Splat is right. Adding modding to this game would make it the holy grail of space sims.
Is it difficult to add mod support?
You’d think that it would be mostly snack delivery going on in the Indica sector.
If there isn't a Sativa sector somewhere else in this game, I'll be disappointed.
Looks like a good appetizer to tide me over until Homeworld 3 comes out.
It's like star citizens arena commander of someone built out the game
getting a bit of Freelancer vibes from it, but Major X4 vibes. Looks like a really cool game :D
Damn i was just thinking this reminded me of Freelancer 2. what a great game. i check steam every once in a while to see if its been added but no dice
It's not nearly as complicated as those games but that could be a good thing
@@kevinscroggins8735 Wait, Freelancer 2? They never finished the sequel to Freelancer.
More like Starlancer
@Dethmeister nope my bad I could have sworn it was the 2nd one but nope it was canceled. Can't believe that was 20 years ago
Thank you very much for featuring us :)
I noticed when you were in your tac menu, you could see the enemy fighters coming in from the left. very cool.
Definitely going to keep an eye on this one. Thanks Splat.
I really like the art style
In Elite we call it the "Loop of shame" when you overshoot a star system because you have to loop back. usually happens when not paying attention to your velocity!
I too have been looking forward to this game, it reminds me a lot of Freespace 2, but with a dynamic campaign, I love dynamic campaigns in games.
As for salvaging, the latest X4 expansion added salvaging, you may want to check that out if you haven't X4 released in really rough shape, but as usual Egosoft put a ton of work into it, and its now a great game, the next expansion is adding the Boron race, and some new carrier mechanics, and looks awesome.
Gotta wishlist this
DAMN, ok, a sort of Mount and Blade in space, now this is exactly the kind of game we are ALL waiting for patiently if I'm not mistaken
Well, technically we have M&B in space: "starsector" one of my favourite games ever, and there is a certain amount of fun in funding your own colony and corporation while headhunting for others
You should try Starsector if you like M&B and mods, one of the best game i played ;)
@@TheGamesOfVoid0000 Wow, thanks guys, I didn't know such a game already seemed to exist. I'm still waiting for this Space Reign 3D alternative for the immersion but starsector seems pretty deep and full of content already :)
Or, you know, X4 which is absolutly amazing now
Game looks amazing. I love the targeting cam in the lower left of the cockpit. Really nice attention to detail.
i love this game im gona buy this one for sure
Not sure, but I think X-Series (X3-Terran Conflict or X4) does very similar things. Right?
I chuckled at 'Indica' sector. I was wondering where the 'Sativa' sector might be hiding, you dig?
We named it Indica because it is the main Pirate sector :)
This seems like Elite Dangerous lite. Seems cool
How come you haven't done "X4. Foundations" yet?
I really enjoy your enthusiasm. Happiness is contagious. Keep it up 🙂
I also enjoyed watching Baradul for a while , but he is fixated on MechWarrior games.
I was a big fan of HOMEWORLD when it came out years ago. Now I'm stuck on Path of Exile despite its numerous flaws. As I say , Live-Learn-Laugh !
The low poly aesthetic fits space games so well. Then, this game sneaks in all these details and polish, very cool.
Match speed is a function that been in space games for ages that should be added i hope. !
Looks like Elite Dangerous plus fleet building.
So I'm 100% on board.
Good Sir, I believe the info on your bullets you're looking for is to the left of your cockpit, at equal level to the missile icons on the right of it.
looks like Freelancer cockpit
This game may be very heavily inspired by the Freespace series.
I remember playing a very similar UI from Freespace 2.
Very similar to elite dangerous too
Truly an underappreciated classic, those two.
I wonder if this is going to be as unforgiving of fighters foolishly getting to close to a capital ship brawl? 'Cause DAMN, Freespace made you respect TF out of those capital beams.
@@DrBunnyMedicinal Getting hit the first time was awesome though. Being flung spiralling into space with little to no shields left.
@@Repulseer Oh, you got lucky! That was just being on the fringes of the beam.
If you had the misfortune to be at the centre of it, you were just insta-vaporised. Took me a while to work out WTF had just happened. 😅
@@DrBunnyMedicinal Gosh, fun times indeed. Brings me back.
Does it have HOTAS support?
This is what i expected Elite Dangerous to be, a fun game.
And not a overcomplicated empty space.
Apparently, not all stations can be docked with, "minor" stations being for resupply only. That's probably the source of "how to change loadout" confusion.
Woooow really feels like Elite dangerous .... without the shitty devs that shoot the game down and the endless grind to be able to buy one cheeseburger
You always have good titles to recommend thanks as always
post-video: yeah some shields could be nice hope devs add this to the game and maybe light carriers or so
maybe shields are part of the upgrade part and all basic ships come without .. hard to say with this demo
@@yabeeba_com It can't be worse then ED.
@@yabeeba_com I hope because variety is always a plus , in ED we could run shieldless but you dont last long ( apart from devs using pvp builds for random mobs kek genius dumb move)
The combat and fly tech feels really smooth and well the demo feels really like a simple showcase of what it can do ... the game has many eyes on it now , devs just need to pull the right cards and its a gold Indie game that will earn them very much
@@ElvenMans yeah but ED doesnt have much competition so devs are just a bunch of loosers that are sinking the ship without doing anything
you get banned from forums even from doing the slight spike lul
This looks like Elite Dangerous with a strategic layer added into the mix, which sounds great to me!
Almost didn't see this because youtube unsubscribed me from your channel.
reminds me a bit of i-war, looks pretty cool
Hey spalt I cough your video early woo XD
MechWarrior 5 vibes only, IN SPACE!
Need a wingman to deal with jousting. Half split then drag and bag.
The game looks great. I love this style of rts and first person. More games need this.
There is void destroyer 1 and 2. Which is exactly what space reign is. Check it out.
Thhe cockpit reminds me of old wing commander game as does the fighting and escort mission.
Oh my god this is like House of a Dying Sun
Another for the Wishlist
Is there a sativa sector?
Figured out to how to change the guns. Click on your ship and then click on the gun
Indica Sector 👌
Looks like elite dangerous, I'm in
Dude, this is what House of the Dying Sun could have been! I'm wishlisting it now!
This sounds great except for the "sandbox" part. I would love this as a roguelite or mission-based title (Everspace with fleet? open world House of the Dying Sun? heck yeah)
With 1.0 coming out today, I guess you now have to revisit Gloria Victis, Splat ;)
Indica sector? I think you mean Indacouch sector.
I guess better than sativa sector where my mind would have gone after seeing that.
This seems reminiscent of X4, interested to see how it differs
Hy SplatCat. You will probably have better luck jousting if you drop throttle to fast turn, then kick thrust back up as soon as you have flipped around and you are facing the enemy once again. Hopefully faster than s/he was able to do so. You have led me to some great games. Going to load this demo up now, too. Thanks!
So this is a indie version of the X series of games, like the new X4: Foundations?
Looks like some fans of the X series decided to build their own game. This might eventually become a worthy competitor for X4. Though I have to say, it does feel like they need to adopt X4's gyro'd weapon hardpoints (or an option for it) to make hitting with an autocannon at least reasonably possible on smaller targets. It'll also need mod support to really compete.
This one surprised me, it looks really good, a lot of potential.
Why couldn't no mans sky or starfield have this type of space combat
This game has been on my steam wishlist since I searched space while looking for new games.
this actually looks pretty dame cool
I one of those who thinks there isnt a better space fleet building sandbox better than Starsector out there... but this one is looking reeeeeally promissing
I'm probably going to have to unsub you. Do you have any idea how big my steam library is? And half of it I can blame on you!!
I prefer Sativa, but Indica will work! Lol 😂
This has big Descent Freespace vibes
Ok now this kinda looks cool.
modding Unity is hard
A CARACAL .. wow that takes me back to my eve-online Tech 1 Cruiser Missile Boat days.. delivering torpedoes in Null Sec..
personally, I'd prefer to take over Sativa sector.
More simple version of x4?
Looks like you need to do a few milk runs before you can get into any real furballs. However, the jousting seemed more based on how splat was flying. Maybe a few B&Z bursting near the reticle instead of trying to do movie tail fighting, hyper focused on FPS style, fire only on hit. Looked cool, though.
Splatt I was just trying to decide what to watch and wondered "Is Splatt playing Mech Warrior 5 right now, 'cause I'd watch that". Thought you should know your content trumped my other options, even when it wasn't an option.
The explosions in space aren't loud enough for me. I'll fall asleep while playing space sims without thunderous booms shaking my screen in the virtual vacuum of space.
single player only? Multiplayer? PvP or Co-Op?
what is the biggest ship the game lets you fly? Corvettes, frigates, destroyers, cruisers, Battlecruisers etc.?
Currently only medium fighters but frigates and destroyers will come.
Why oh why, You cruel Splat! Why you show me such game when it's not yet released? I will have to revisit Elite yet again to be ground down by its coarse, serrated surfaces!
In this game, can I change the dashboard skins of a starship*?
I generally buy well-made indie games, even if I have no interest in playing them, to support small development teams. My hopes are that some of them will develop the next Rimworld, Craft the World, GalCiv II, No Man's Sky, etc.
Oh, and **** EA.
RIP Trevor
5:34 The ship's name is Antaris, maybe the developers are fans of the old Realspace games from Arcadetown?
Super looking forward to more on KSP 2!!! Thank you for the first vid in what I hope is a long series~
by the way, "engage mode" is actually "don't engage unless you're in close combat" mode :P
I was looking for a different type of space combat game. This looks to be your run of the mill arcade dog fighting shooter were you chase each others tails.
space games are weird, u are floating there and everithing is so far away... the ship is making noise but u cant tell ur mooving at all plus the ship turns like a whale while the Ai is driving past u at breakneck speeds
Almost makes me want to play Allegiance again after 23 years… - or even Wing Commander…
