I'm surprised you didn't talk about the -o switch, witch shows the (PID) process ID. This is very useful for identifying applications that are connecting to the internet. If you find that there is an application that is misbehaving or shouldn't be connected to the internet, than you can find it in the task manager using the process ID and kill the program or application! Very useful tool!
It was really a great explanation of how netstat works! Especially, I liked the part, when you demonstrated what the difference between usual "netstat" and with "-a" switch. Thank you!
youve made a mundane system interesting! BTW netstat -b will require use of Admin CMD Prompt. Instead of normal cmd, just right click it and press Run as Admin for anyone wondering
I use netstat occasionally but after watching this video this tool looks more powerful than I thought, I really know how hard it is to make such videos, so Thank you very much sharing them with us. Regards
Keep uploading videos like these, professor! Your well-explained concepts, always enlighten me, I thank you for pointing out each netstat commands and its functions. I hope you have a nice, productive day! 😊
These videos are so powerful in the line of work and belive me when I tell you, not many know of this. Keeping in mind that running a business requires explanations to customers and they appreciate when they see their own technicians are prepared.
just so you know, Companies only pay Google to PLACE the ad in front of consumers. You can skip it, he still gets paid. Its the same as putting an ad in the newspaper - you pay for the Ad, not the potential Sale that it creates.
I spent the last three days and watched every single video to refresh for my ojt. Amazing videos and work well even at intermediate levels trying jump back the basics or used as a training tool for other techs. 🥺 now I'm going to have to wait another month for another video. I know they take long to make, especially for the quality, but I'm addicted
Absolute hero! Recently had an expansion of scope of the work I do meaning networking knowledge is much more required. These videos have helped immensely in reinforcing/expanding things I know and explaining things I'm not well versed on. Amazing

Next topic of video ideas: VPN: a follow up to your proxy video and more focused on how people use it for it's original purpose to connect to local lan resources on a remote network at their work for example) iptables: as an advanced follow up to your port forward or firewall video Chat apps: for example facebook messenger and how it's push notifications work Anyways love your animations man these videos are good stuff
Just a note that, on Linux, netstat has been obsoleted by the ss command in the iproute2 suite of tools. Just to add to the fun, on FreeBSD, the route command cannot list existing routes: you have to use netstat for that.
Don't forget the netstat -e I solved an issue at work one day by using this command. The result showed a lot of errors in the "received" column and no errors in the "transmitted" column. it was simply because of the network cable not plugged correctly into the wall.
