Students start at 9:25am. Teachers have to be there by 8:55am. I usually get there by 8:30am. I have car duty at 9:05am, so I like to get things ready before I have to go out.
I love your day in the life videos, Madison! Our students are at school from 7:10-2:30. Our schedule is 7:00-3:00. It is hard starting early, but I do like being out by 3. I love small group reading. It is my most favorite part of the day!
hello Madison! I am a 5th year teacher, I teach 2nd and 3rd grade and I wake up around 5:00 or 5:30 around there and I try to be at school by 7:00 and the kiddos come at 9:00 but I have car pool duty and after that I have bus duty so they have a sub so I can get the bus kiddos and then we do morning meeting, reading, math , lunch, recess , specials , math, reading and we do more and more until they understand because we take a lot of tests we take this thing called progress monsters to see what were doing and how. I was an elementary education major . My math professor talked about how important it is for students to learned with hands on activities especially in math because it helps the students understand the concepts better. I am so glad that you are the doing the same with your students at that grade level. It will help them become more familiar with the counters etc. before they move on to the next grade level when they will continue there.
I wake up at 4:50. Have coffee and enjoy time to myself. Put the dishes away. Make the kids some breakfast. They get them up at 6. I have 3 in school (one in 8th and twins in 9th). We leave at 7:10. Drop them off and then I am required to be at my school at 8:15. I have to teach elsewhere next year. It is stressing me out a little bit knowing my schedule is going to change.
Great video! I use slides to facilitate my day too. It’s so helpful and my kids like them. Our hours are 6:45-2:45 and like someone else on here said I hate waking up early but glad I’m usually home by 3:30!

I love to listen to music. I love almost every genre of music. But usually I get more relaxed when I listen to blues or jazz. I listen to it in the morning before work, and at night before going to bed.
Your point about “iPad time” reminded me of something I read the other day about how toddlers these days actually spend more time on average playing with iPads than real toys such as legos, and by kindergarten, the vast majority of them already have their own phones.
It’s all so overwhelming…and worrying. It could take years, decades, before we know what all the side effects of exposing this new generation of kids to all this technology from such a young age can be. But no one wants to hear that right now. Like a bunch of pioneers, racing towards the edges of the frontier without knowing about the grizzly bears in the mountains…
What are the most common future career aspirations of your kindergarten students?

I have a microschool and have the pleasure of picking the start and end time. We start at 9am and end at 2:15pm. We are in class for 4 days a week as well. LOVE my job!

Our school starts at 7:30 and teachers have to be parked by 7:20 so we don’t get in the way of the buses pulling in. But I would never get there that late! It makes me feel crazy. I try to get there by 7am and several days a week I get there at 6:45. We’re 10 min from the school so it’s doable. School lets out at 3pm and teachers can leave at 3:30.

I get up at 5:45 so that we can give our dog her 30 minute walk before being left alone all day. I get to work at 7:30(we have to be there by 8:00) and school starts at 8:30. We get out at 3:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 4:30 on Tuesday and Thursday

Our district is split up into Early Start Schools and Late Start Schools due to busses. I am at an Early Start School now. It was really hard at first but now I love getting out earlier. Our students start at 7:55am and get out at 2:45pm (for kinder/first grade). I wake up at 4:30am...I am used to it now but it was not easy.

I teach Kdg, and I have a co-teacher also. For ELA and Math, we do small groups. One week, I will have the lower students, and she will have the higher students. Then the next week, we switch. That way, we aren't "stuck" with the low group or with behavior students. We have the group for ELA and Math. We start our day with Heggerty and then we do Fundations. The students love it! We pick a Heggerty Super Star and a Fundations Super Star. We use a randomizer (popsicle sticks with their names) to choose the Super Stars. They get their picture on the Heggerty Superstar and Fundations Super Star poster and they get to jump on our trampoline. At the end of the month we choose the student who was the Super star the most for Heggerty and Fundations and they get a token to use for our book vending machine.

I am also a new immigrant in Alberta, Canada. I am wondering which province you are and trying to figure out if most of what works in your province is applicable to here in Alberta.
I am a foreign trained teacher (M.Ed) and so trying to find out what's required of me as per certification/conversation to be able to get a school job here. And also making research on the easiest/quickest position that would facilitate blending in.
We have to be there at 7:45 and kids at 8:00. We stay till 3:30 and we dismiss at 3:10.

I've been dealing with crazy post-birth control acne too! It was weird because my skin didn't break out immediately, so I thought I was in the clear. But apparently it actually peaks 6 months after stopping the pill - which is me right now :(

Teachers at 8:20 students start 9:10 but they let them into the class at 9:00 and we get out at 3:40. Teachers can leave 3:50. We are magnet so we work an extra 30 min I think.
