One thing I thought of regarding another use for a dubbing loop is to use the thread loop as a post for tying a parachute hackle used to tie a pull over or hackle stacker. I learned this from Bob Quigley when he taught me how to tie his Film Critic. Thanks for a great video on dubbing loops !
@@stevenloy5514 I enjoy tying hackle stacker dries. You now have me thinking and planning. I will talk to Tim about doing a hackle based Talk N Tie. Cheers. Phil
I'm a year in on tying,I absolutely love it,almost like playing an instrument, I went to bed watching,I got out of bed and tied a fly using some of this advice on your video, it's greatly appreciated, thank you both.

Out of curiosity, have you ever seen the Pegasus production video of Bob Quigley tying his flies, especially the Film Critic? Back then, in the early days of stacking loops he first tied in monofilament as the stacking loop, and on this video he introduced the use of using the tying thread. It’s worth watching! To my knowledge, he never used a strand of Antron or z-Lon as the post, like most guys do today.
Those little electronic probe clips are crappy. They don't have enough tension and they bend/ break when the spring gets stuck. I went with the electronic alligator clip that are typically rubber coated with a wire between each alligator clip. Better tension also.
Brilliant, thanks for the video.

Instead of wax, how about stick glue used for paper?
You certainly could. I know of other tyers using the tacky pads to trap mice.

Hi Phil is that a material spring on your vise. Where did you get it
It is made by Regal Vise. Any fly shop that carries Regal products should be able to get one for you.
