I tell you the enemy AI that they developed for the Hunters in Division 1 is some of the best AI I ever experienced. There were times I swear I was playing against another player. I always enjoyed how much survival could put you on the edge of your seat, get the heart pumping and the adrenaline. Being scared of what may be around the corner. Massive really made such an incredible game mode and has been an extremely difficult game mode for them to come up with something better.
This mode was and still is amazing. I do not understand why a similar feature was not added to Div2.

I’m curious how they’d balance it. Division 1 had the cold climate and cosmetic loot that was made for that climate.
With DC in summer, it might be tough to recreate that part of the Survival system.
@@Kintaku well cold was a fact but they can put like a venom and we need to search for a cure and extract…imagination is the only limit. We can easily argue that the setting in TD1 was the best. Night, winter storm…man this dlc was dope.
My first was a full team of friends at the intersection in the north. One Hunter dashed at my friend's position, rolled over his cover and axed him. Then ran up to me and axed me. My friend went: "What?!?! That's so cool! Also, I'm dead! What the hell!?!?" Our other 2 friends started yelling frantically and shooting, then got obliterated by the other hunters. Survival was fun.
Everyone has a story like that when we first ran into the Hunters! 🤣
Survival was dope. Being solo in that was a 100% non-stop adrenaline rush

From that spawn head straight east, hit 2 landmarks, head straight north to the police station, you could hit the landmark on SW corner outside the DZ. Takes about 15-20 minutes and you are geared up. I love this gamemode and I don't play any other games like this.
That's why Survival is the 🐐

It is beyond criminal that they did bring this mode over to Div 2.
The thing with Ubisoft is they had one chance to make survival a top tier Battle Royal, but as usual, forget to get on the bus and was left standing at the bus stop while PUBG, Fortnite, Apex and Warzone captivated on what they had , everyone told them to bring Survival to Div 2 but nope they didn't listen and now their hopes and dreams is riding on Heartland to crack a tight nit BR scene.....
I agree that they did miss a golden opportunity to bring it back to Div 2.

DayZ was 2012 and it had the best Survival BR gamemode. The world was persistent and there wasn't a timer so in theory you could go from one server to another with your gear or die and lose it all.

I’ve come back to play this every couple weeks, still a great feeling seeing the sun come up as you’re on your last leg, waiting for the chopper!
Survival is one of the modes that when I started Division with 1.15 that I pushed to the back, I didn't like BR games, or BR like game modes, a friend of mine than asked me to play it for an achievement and I reluctantly agreed to it.
After the first round we both agreed that it was actually quite good, you have the amazing atmosphere of Division, paired with the constant thread of freezing to death, if you don't freeze to death the Virus will kill you, do you take your time, get gear or do you rush, if you rush the hunter might kill you or other players, if you take your time, players might overwhelm you, or you run out of time.
After a couple rounds, we were hooked, the constant threads with the atmosphere made it one if not the best mode the game had, we switched between underground and Survival the whole time.
Nice bro. THIS WAS THE ONE I WAS WAITING FOR! By FAR the most amazing built survival game ever ever made.. Still play this weekly! 👍👍👍👍👍

Survival isn’t my preferred choice of gamemode in the Division. But I understand why a lot of people enjoy it. For me, my favorite DLC was Underground. I maxed out EVERYTHING! Proud to have the Can’t Unsee patch.
I came back to this game last week; I haven't stopped playing it, just bought NY dlc but yet to try it out as with Survival, can't wait.
Survival really is the rawest and most pure form of The Division you will ever find.

Man I miss playing this mode. Had the most fun every time. Get to the chopper or the police station. Police station was priority tho. Then beeline to the DZ. Had my route I ran every time and was always strong enough to handle multiple hunters at various extractions before I left. Good times
I've started playing Division 1 again.
I was surprised to see so many people still playing, and I'm on the Aus servers.
Surgival was the only reason I kept playing division 1. Honestly it was the reason I feel in love with extraction shooters.
Loving the Division 1 content, went back into Broadway Emporium for Black Friday. Love survival mode but still suck at it. Random Hunters in underground still scare the crap out of me.

You summarized every feeling I had about this game from the first time I played it. No better mode or feeling you get from playing this game. I always play PvP but really suck at fighting other players as I am not a PvP player. I just love the suspense it adds to my run of never knowing if I am going to run around a corner, loaded up and ready to extract, and boom ..... another player! Oh crap, here we go.... Wow, what a feeling. My best score to date is 20K+ which I continue to try and improve on whenever I come back to this. I have not achieved the extra 1600 for Punisher mode which means you killed 4 hunters. I can kill 3 Hunters but have no clue where the other extraction site is? Is there one? Or do you have to do this via someone else calling in the 4th hunter?
There are only 3 extraction sites, and if you are running solo, you will only see 3 Hunters. To get more spawns, you need more players to be in close proximity to the sites.
I was the subject of a "drive by" once. Ended up taking out 4 hunters and barely made it into the chopper with like 5 seconds remaining on the timer. Was pretty sweaty as I wasn't super accomplished at the mode. Still don't think I've topped that to date lol. It's pretty dead these days unfortunately.
Side note: this game is absolutely fantastic to play on the Steam Deck. It's a must play, even.
The Urban MDR was only found in Survival caches, i needed it for my firecrest build for so long. i eventually got it during the first global event

Minecraft Hunger Games is one of the OG Battle Royales. Its heavily based on the hunger games books, hence the name.
Should be 2012 or 2013-14 when that mode was all over youtube.

This game still looks good and I'm glad they are keeping it updated. I played Division 1 when it came out and was hooked. Played Division 2 for a little while then stopped playing. But I'm glad to see it still looks this good. Thanks for the updated video. Now I'm thinking if I should re download lol
How do you get into survival? IVe sat in the Q a few times but after like 5-10 minutes, I dont get in. I am Qing up for the PVE survival....I was hoping it'd just drop me in alone.
I think the most it should take is 5 minutes. I queue up for PvP and I do not activate the matchmaker.
I think survival is totally a BR it’s just the only BR with a plausible reason as to why you’re there in the first place.

I will forever maintain that Survival should have been the default setting for the franchise, just with even more (less?) minimal RPG/looter elements.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE the looter shooter genre, but I've always felt it was out of place here and Survival shows exactly why - when the combat is more realistic, and literally everything is out to get you even the environment, it makes for very tense and exciting gameplay especially during a Blizzard when you can't see shit and you're on the verge of freezing to death all the while bullets are flying etc.
That doesn't mean it has to be totally hardcore all the time, I do appreciate the calmness of the open world or "Light Zone" as we used to call it back in the day.
But the DZ as a whole is criminally underused and DEMANDS far more emphasis, and frankly should be the primary reason for playing. That it doesn't really get incorporated into main missions is downright criminal.
For all of its faults (and there are many) the original Division game was a major milestone in gaming that simply does not get the recognition it deserves.

hi, Just got into Division 2 months ago. Played Division 2 and got it to 100% platinum. Now am looking for another game like this but seems Division is unique. I am trying to motivate myself to play Division 1 but it is very lonely game before end game. What motivates you to play it right now? Is it because you have character at end game already, is it because you think it is good content for youtube? anything else? just trying to find motivation to play it instead of something that is really not Division like Destiny...
The journey as you level up is unique and haunting. End Game is intense and I find it better than Div 2.
I just finished surviving for nearly 2hrs. Survival never gets old.

I believe Urban MDR was only available via Survival Caches; that weapon probably was the reason Division 2 has a Rifle archetype.

I didn’t really get into Survival because it wasn’t really my thing at the time, but I watched a ton of it and it was always cool to watch.
You say this is Hardcore mode, the true hard core mode is No Crafting gear or weapons, only green gear and one green weapon equipped. No Med kit allowed ETC...
I hear you, but for The Division, this is as hardcore as it gets.
I heard Heartland will get a mode like this, even if it's not the same feeling it will 100% scratch that itch. The question is when will it come out.
you have to always alternare between the seringe and the pill and they will have longer effect, i always like to play until the light is out and extract on daylight :) GG

I do the alternating as well. I went all the way through the sunlight and then the blizzard came back in. Total time was 2:12 for this run.
Never heard that before. But definitely willing to confirm the hypothesis.
But here's another thing to test -- if you're down and dead requiring revival, you do not eat up the virus clock. So it should be possible with a partner to extend your time beyond 2:18 if the session timeclock isn't suspended while you are in that down and dead state.
Been playing this on pc. Totally beautiful. Not the dlc but the base game so far. I just started lol

I keep having problems with the servers (on XB1), I'll get to a part of the map and I won't be able to sprint or jog. Will only let me walk, about the speed as if you were carrying a breaker. It says "Loading" with the spinning icon in the lower right 😵💫 Has gotten me killed plenty of times. One time I fell thru the bottom of the map because the level wasn't rendered all the way. 🥴😣
Have you tried upgrading your HDD to a SDD? My PS4 ran SOOOOOO much better when I did it.

@@LtBuzzLitebeer i must be honest with you my friend. I've played The Division 2 and I gotta say that is a pretty solid game, but sadly it was only a milking machine. The Division 1 is and will forever be the game of my life ❤️
I didn't play The Division because of it's issues, and by the time the patch came out that fixed everything I was already deep into other game. I picked up The Division 2 on release and really liked it, but I didn't give The Division a 2nd look until I watched a video about a year ago from a Division RUclipsr that played this mode. After that, I picked up The Division and all of the season on sale. Probably one of my better gaming purchases.
If the game had this weather adaptation, that would´ve been awesome!

Buzz, thank you, thank you, thank you!! The best game mode to come out of The Division!! I really wish that Massive’s current opinion of doing another Survival game mode for the Div 2 would change! I would advance purchase it in a heartbeat. As for the framework for a storyline, they could always have summer storm, like the hurricanes they get on the east coast , wipe out infrastructure and cause a bit of chaos. The survival part of the game of course would be to dodge malaria and dysentry, so here you would have to scavenge antivirals and medications, also scavenge for food and water, and assist with supporting and protecting the authorities work crews who are trying to restore water and power to the city which would open up introducing conflict scenarios and missions involving groups of agents working together, or running black ops solo missions. I really think they are missing out here on keeping the game alive for us “lifers” who have been loyal to the franchise from the start!!

I also agree, Survival is the single best thing Division has done, I still play Div 1 just for survival runs. Just a shame there's only ever 2/3 people in a match. I do wish they'd update it and make it a lot harder though, it's easy to survive 2 hours and rinse every landmark inside the DZ
Is there any good video that explains the gear and what the talents are and how to boost them. Div 2 I can with a glance know whether to keep it or not but Div 1 isn't like that

I always said that hurricane that wrecked the map in WONY would’ve made for a great survival stage. it used to be a dark zone and how great would it be if you had to get the last chopper out before they were all grounded

I enjoy them both as well.
It's excellent. But it really needed randomized loot/crafting material locations. Set locations made min/maxed set routes too prevalent and undermined the actual survival and climate effects and potential of randomized, emergent gameplay of the match. Still lots of fun.
An enduring and frustrating mystery why they never brought this excellent mode forward into the next game.
Besides overall rewards for completion, and wanting/needing random loot locations in the map, this mode was truly epic.
Never played Div1 but this looks like so much fun. I dont get why this isn't in Div2

@@LtBuzzLitebeer Its more than likely because it wouldnt fit TD2 due to the fact the game is in an eternal summer in DC, and dark zones are scattered across the map
It worked well in TD1 due to darkzones being close together and near-center
Not so much in TD2 tbh, unless it randomizes what what DZ the players must go to
But even then, summertime, a heat mechanic wouldnt be as intense as the blinding snowstorms and cold

I go in nowadays to Div1 for weekly survival runs, not even for the loot. Just the mode is so good.
Why is there not something like this is Division 2?????? This looks amazing! Makes no sense. Doesn't need have hunger or thirst, maybe radiation to monitor and with a Geiger counter and timed immunity state you collect as a status effect. Combine this with better Dark Zone loot and high end exotics and exotic crafting materials; people would be invested. There's no excuse for it not being in the game unless they've got Division 3 coming.
I Still play it as well. Love it except I do get disconnected fairly often.
I rarely see disconnects, and can't remember the last time it happened to me on Div 1.
I 100% agree. I thought the survival mode was amazing and probably the best thing they did with the first division.i Loved how u had to constantly scavenge to stay alive. It was genuinely an intense experience. I might reinstall it on my ps5 havent played it in some time.

This mode has such a sweet mix of features still can't find anything that comes close to matching it for replayability.
tbh if I'm looking to just chill for a bit (without any player drama) I'll often do a PvE Survival run.
Yes, survival was the best thing that ever happened to The Division...hell u could even go PvE only if u didnt wanna mess with griefers. Add realistic thirst and hunger, make sepsis and other infection curable, and slow down the infection progress down to realistic speeds and bam, u have a full game.

The Division Survival was one of the best modes/games out there....The mode came out at the wrong time and wasn't promoted. It really should have been a standalone game

The best game mode I’ve ever played full stop. I still log in at least once a week to play and occasionally you might get a bit of PvP. They really missed a trick not making this free to play at some stage over the last few years, I believe it would have reinvigorated the original division. Also the show setting was perfect for this game, the Division 2 never really had the same impact on me. I hope they go back to something like this for a future game.
One of my favourites survival games was, I Am Alive, it was hardcore and you had to make some tough choices to survive, I wish they would bring that back or do a second version. I wonder if The Division Survival stole some of the aspects of that game, after all its was made by Ubisoft Shanghai (I think), Maybe I am alive was the precursor for Survival?

Consumable system wouldn't be hard as you could replace the emote wheel with it. As we know emotes already trigger in game events.

this mode has an amazing game play loop, and very high replayability. Loved it from the day they added it to the Division, yet for reasons that escape everyone, D2 has nothing like it at all.. wtf Devs? lol Downside, I live in Australia and if I Q up for a lobby now, I can wait hours and not get a round, we just dont have the player base here anymore. Also evidenced by being able to run the darkzone from end to end and not see a single other player, even the stupid hackers have abandoned this game... lol - But I love it still. (lets be honest, it also doesnt crash every 5 mins like D2 STILL DOES lol)
D2 has some serious performance issues, and thanks for the comment.
Survival was by far the best game mode. Only complaint I had was cosmetic. You're freezing to death but the thugs(or whatever they were called) were just walking around like it was nothing. Kinda ruined the experience.
My favorite PvP run through was a battle with another player. We went at it for 5min and he eventually got me. To his credit he enjoyed it so much he tried to revive me(I think we had some kinda revive in survival but it's been years since I played) but he couldn't. We had a decent messaging back and forth.
A wonderful game with a wonderful game mode.
The stress and panic is real In this game mode, there’s no music nor any background OST just pure wind and silence. You’ve got nothing and hypothermia is coming. Thugs are down the street. An you’ve just got sick.

I saw your post on Twitter and mistakenly thought it was a new division 2 mode. Slightly disappointing but I can understand why it's possibly not able to be added to division 2
Still I think something like this would be perfect for division 2 if they could find a replacement for consumables

Div 1 is epic I play div 2 now but my heart is div 1 the legendary mission at the apartments was awesome. I will play div heartland as well.
Ubisoft had a winner here, why they didnt add survival mode to Division 2 is beyond me. It could be even a great standalone game on its own.

I haven’t had a chance to play survival but I am having fun playing DMZ in warzone 2, I got killed trying to extract today but it’s all good
Playing games since 2000 and this is the best DLC/Stand-alone/Mode ive ever played. Love it. (Dont know why Ubi product D2 in this time. This game was great. Dont know why people played in this time PUBG. Dont know why in 6 months the playerbase fall from 110k to under 2000.)

Could not agree more that survival is the absolute best BR game style ever made. Hands down.
The sandstorm in division 2 would be perfect for a survival mode but since there making heartland there not gonna add it in dv2.
Also survival mode is an extraction shooter not a BR which I think might have been the first of the extraction shooters.
Play Survival at least once a week
