I moved to prince of Wales island 2 yrs ago and came up on the Kennicott also, looks like we had the same room, ha, ha. Bought a 34 foot boat in Ketchikan when my dog and I landed, had to wait 3 days for the ferry to POW, the main ferry was broke down, so a state ferry stepped in to take across to POW. Looked around for a couple of weeks and bought a cabin near setter lake, power and all, rough dirt road though, am very happy here, will never leave, I'm 73 now so I hope to have a few more years thanks for the trip again, wonderful memories.
Nice cozy room! Nice cafeteria! Prices are high everywhere here in Southern California for food. Gorgeous sunset you showed us! Yes, thank you for sharing the footage of the smooth waters and good weather! Awesome job, Guys! Thank you! Watching from Los Angeles, CA Steve Miller
Only found your channel today. As an Aussie, I first visited Alaska in 2005 and fell in love with it immediately. What a wonderful surprise to see the Northern Lights. I was fortunate to see them in 2014 on my second trip. Hoping to do it again for trip number three. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am loving doing it with you as a virtual traveler. 🛳🌟🤗
On the same ferry right now. I’m in one of the closet rooms. The bedding was only $3 but it is a much smaller room. The dinner specials have been great so far. I also brought an electric hot pot and an AeroPress for coffee. Nice video summary...
You don't need to disembark at every port do you? can you stay on the same ferry from Bellingham to Wittier? Also, More info please on prices. What was the price of this journey?
Hopefully we will be done by winter. But if not we hope to at least have the shop portion done so we can live in the motorhome inside the shop while we finish the house.
Pretty basic... what do you exactly mean by amenities? Nothing really extra comes with the fare. You have to pay for all food and drink if that is what you are asking.
Alaska is our happy place and just seemed with everything that happened in 2020 making a move to a better place seemed needed. We love Alaska and it seems like a perfect fit for us.
I would love to do that trip. Do many go without a vehicle? $5000 doesn't seem that bad. But did Gary say the meals were extra? They looked good. HUGS~Donna
You can definitely take it without a vehicle. The price varies, but booking 2 months in advance between Washington and the first Alaskan port, it's about $850 for 2 people for the most basic cabin. You can bring your own food or buy it in the ferry
If you have ATT you can get a plan to cover you for a short period of time in a different country. It is pretty cheap. It is called ATT Passport I think. May want to call ATT Customer Care for details.
Our ATT plan has unlimited in Canada but the bigger problem was really just having signal. When at sea we had very little service. In ports however we had service but Verizon did not work at all in Yakutat.
OK, lots of basic info, but you can review the ferry without constantly pointing the camera at yourself. About 50 percent was of you rather than the boat; Not good. Otherwise, bon voyage.
We are a vlogging channel... thats what we do... we tell stories of our experiences. With 11,000 others enjoying our content... I think we are doing it right! Thanks for watching and Bye Bye!!! 👋

I took the Kennicott ferry from Bellingham to Juneau this summer. I slept on deck outside the solarium in my hammock. It was a fantastic experience.
Wow, what a well done video. We hope to take the marine highway in 2022 and I'm really glad I found your videos.
I am traveling 4-days on the Kennicott to Haines, AK with my two dogs. Your video was exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.

Looking forward to your Alaska adventures. I’m heading to Talkeetna in July for vacation.
Be sure to book the Hurricane turn train out of Talkeetna when your there. Well worth the day!
Such beautiful scenery and what a great sail so far. Hopefully it continues!
It was an amazing trip.
Great video ❤️
Very informative. Thanks for the insights.
Great shots of the northern lights!
Glad you like them! I wish the quality was better but glad they turned out considering all I had was my cellphone.
What was the app you were showing to track the boat. Was it the AMHS app or something else?
how much does it cost to ride the ferry up and back
Is hot water and microwave available in the cafe?
What app were you using to show the ferry's location?
Navionics Boating, We will touch a bit more on this in our next video.
What app are you using to see where you are?
Great video. What app did you use to track your trip. We’re going on this trip this Sunday.
Thanks very lovely.

Does it get boring? I took a cruise. To Alaska, I though think the ferry will have better views since the boat travels at night a lot.
Thanks for this video, i loved it, please keep it up
Thank you! Will do!
How exciting for you to move to Alaska. How long do you think it will take to build your house?
Hopefully we will be done by winter. But if not we hope to at least have the shop portion done so we can live in the motorhome inside the shop while we finish the house.
What's the amenities on the ferries, I plan to take Homer to Kodiak Island in my truck camper.

Maybe I missed it, but why are you moving to Alaska?

Yes there were many who were walk ons as well. And yes meals are extra... nothing is provided for free.

I helped build that ship.
You could go broke quick eating their food!!!
Yes but some of their regular grill menu items were affordable.
