Depending on what style of corset or stays it can also show your breasts up a bit. Also most women would have worn padding rather than tightlacing because tightlacing hurts and is impractical. If worn correctly, corsets are supportive.

In the Midwest in the 1800s they would have long winters every 7 years and every 21 years it would last that long. Not sure if it happens now. I would think not with global warming but it happened
No it’s not. I love this musical because the men are held accountable for kidnapping the girls by having to spend the entire long winter in a barn where the warmest thing is a horse or cow. Still there is forgiveness because the girls realize that they really are just boys, not really men and they were confused. There is no excuse though and they do get punished thoroughly before they are fully forgiven because even when the girls dream of their weddings they boys are still stuck in the barn. The fact that even with forgiveness there is still a proper punishment makes this musical ahead of its time because it was written in the 40’s about the 1850’s or around there. I think if it were written today it would not hold up with modern standards because of the forgiveness but we know so much more now so the modern parts of this musical are quite astonishing given the historical circumstances. To sum up, no, it’s not sexist. It’s ironically modern and everyone gives constant.

It's kinda sad how these ladies had plans for such romantic weddings but they ended getting married in their regular clothes, fathers brandishing shotguns, and in a barn.

Well, they wound up married to the men they loved. And furthermore of course the girls all said, "Mine" when asked whose the baby was. Clever ladies, not one bit sad.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! This is my favorite movie of all time and the ending makes me laugh but I was so hoping for a big beautiful romantic wedding for them 😕 to quote Milly, I had such dreams.

The 7th bride got married already in the beginning of the film so this song/dance number focuses more with the other 6 women and it’s the same as with the other 6 brothers, the first brother got married first before the other boys. In fact the lyrics of this song is about them day dreaming how they want to get married and have a baby almost the same way as the 7th bride did. hope you understand my explanation☺️

In the Midwest in the 1800s they would have long winters every 7 years and every 21 years it would last that long. Not sure if it happens now. I would think not with global warming but it happened
Is this sexist at all. I'm in my early 30's things seem to change everyday. Think it's an acceptable form of video...idk now.
No it’s not. I love this musical because the men are held accountable for kidnapping the girls by having to spend the entire long winter in a barn where the warmest thing is a horse or cow. Still there is forgiveness because the girls realize that they really are just boys, not really men and they were confused. There is no excuse though and they do get punished thoroughly before they are fully forgiven because even when the girls dream of their weddings they boys are still stuck in the barn. The fact that even with forgiveness there is still a proper punishment makes this musical ahead of its time because it was written in the 40’s about the 1850’s or around there.
I think if it were written today it would not hold up with modern standards because of the forgiveness but we know so much more now so the modern parts of this musical are quite astonishing given the historical circumstances.
To sum up, no, it’s not sexist. It’s ironically modern and everyone gives constant.
