      @Dan Baverty Hi Dan! My whole schedule of videos got thrown off pretty significantly with the 1 bar builds. There was a huge out pouring of appreciation and people enjoying them so I kept making them and it lasted a lot longer than I thought. I have one more coming out today then moving on to other subjects for a while with this one (animation canceling) being one of them. Thank you for the feedback!

    Such an easy thing to explain but so hard to do. Definitely something to practice! When ZOS gave out the free target dummy a year ago i finally had the tool to help me improve.

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  3 года назад +2

      Definitely! Its not something you get in a day, a week, or even a month for a lot of people. It requires lots of practice and then routine maintenance to keep up muscle memory. Even myself, I easily do well over 100 parses a week, sometimes several hundred+ on really intensive build creation weeks. I am able to maintain what is called a "perfect parse" meaning 100% up times and the highest level of light attack ratios my internet connection allows (I personally am not held back by latency but latency can absolutely lower a players light attack ratio ceiling, limiting their performance). But even just a week off if I just did a week of fun pvp or something, I need a handful of parses to shake off some dust and tighten up muscle memory. Its not something you will ever be able to shelf and then come back much later and expect to perform the same. Some people hate that aspect, but I really love it. It adds layers to the game that reward those who input the time to perfect their craft/gameplay, but at the same time, isn't necessary to do at those higher levels to complete and enjoy 99.9% of the game. There is something to fill everyone's cups. 😀

    My problem is the bar swap. From what I hear... a light attack is used after every bar swap followed by an ability. There's seems to be a very short pause (1/4 to 1/2 sec) before I can activate my light attack after the bar swap which slows down my rotation.

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  4 года назад

      On the back bar, the last skill you use, rather than trying to do a light attack, do an animation cancel with a bar swap to the front bar. This is a bit of advance mechanics not listed in this video. It is definitely tricky and requires a bit of practice. Let me know if you have any issues and if you are on PC NA maybe you can come to our guild hall and we can work together to get you where you want to be!

      @RJMoser 4 года назад +1

      @@Dooma Gave your suggestion a try and really didn't see a difference if I canceled a back bar light attack animation or a skill animation. It's that very short pause after switching from the front bar to the back bar or back bar to the front bar - before I can activate a light attack or skill. But I'll keep practicing. Thnx for the help.

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  4 года назад +1

      @@RJMoser Almost never will your back bar rotation end with a light attack. Most back bar portions of the rotation are: ability, LA, Ability, swap, immediately going into your front bar rotation starting with a LA. May I ask what class/build you are playing? Maybe we can drill down a little further. You are going to have a little pause. If you have light attack helper installed and are averaging around .7-.85 You are doing good. The reason light attack helper wont read a 1, is due to these little pauses you are talking about and accounting for any channeled abilities.

    • @RJMoser
      @RJMoser 4 года назад +1

      @@Dooma OK... been practicing the cancelling of various skills - not light attacks - before switching bars and it's beginning to make a slight difference. I've also come to the realization that any attacks from the click of the mouse actually come from the release of the mouse click and not the pressing of it. So... eventually with more practice... my dps should steadily rise.
      However, that pause just after the bar switch still gets me. It seems that a light attack and then a skill is still the best approach in starting the rotation off of any bar swap.
      I'm not saying they are but after watching a lot of dummy parses on youtube... I wouldn't be surprised if some were using macros... lol....

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  4 года назад +1

      R.J. Moser awesome! Keep it up! There are lots of people, myself included who spend hours and hours practicing parsing a week and it becomes muscle memory/second nature. You are right, a light attack always starts a rotation because that’s the animation we are cancelling, which is why it has to be first. Also that little time between bar swaps is totally fine. It’s all about LA/S (light attacks per second). If you are somewhere around .7-.8 you are doing great. A 1 la/s like in my video is only possible without a bar swap. Keep it up, you got this!

    If your internet can handle it- Does that explain why my light/heavy attacks sometimes don't execute between abilities?

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  4 года назад +1

      Hi Alex! It can be, but this normally isnt an issue unless you are performing at a very very high level of LA/S as well as have a connection that will limit your output. There are two factors that cause the typical LA misfire 1) Pressing buttons too fast to where the LA gets buried in the cast time of the ability being cast leaving the system only to register the next ability being cast. 2) A known performance issue within ESO itself which they are working on fixing. If you are performing at a controlled comfortable pace and your LA just doesnt fire off, its more than likely #2. Its a very common thing right now Zos is trying to fix for us. I hope this helps!

  • @fairandbright

    Thanks for the vid, Dooma! I have one question though. I'm doing your one bar stamden build and I'm a little unsure how to apply this because the Wrecking Blow has a 0.8 cast time. Do I start the light attack action and cancel it with wrecking blow, but let wrecking blow finish completely before I do the light attack again, or is there a way to shorten wrecking blow as well?

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  4 года назад +1

      Megan Megan Hi Megan! Wrecking can be a little wonky to get used to at first with weaving. The action is performed exactly like you said. The light attack is clipped by wrecking and as soon as wrecking is done you start with your next light attack. At 8: 10 in the 1 bar stam video, I demonstrate it at full speed. Normally, with abilities like force pulse, there is a brief moment of down time (.5+ second or so) after light attack>ability. The same down time exists with wrecking, it’s just in the form of a mini cast time. If you just think of these down times as essentially the same thing, it starts to feel the same.

    How does this look with elemental weapon? How do you weave it, it's super slow with the full animation.

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  3 года назад +2

      Hi Warren! Ele weap is deceiving and takes some practice to get into the flow of it. It’s not actually super slow, it just doesn’t fire a projectile itself and feels clunky. It’s actually considered an instant ability and takes about the same time globally as force pulse. The difference is force pulse fires a projectile when you press it so it feels faster. Ele weapon doesn’t have an effect until your next light attack. The best way to get better at it is to practice with only one button: Ele weap (EW) > light attack (LA) > EW>LA > EW> LA etc. some people just hate it and can’t get in the flow with it and that’s totally fine, force pulse is just as good with marginally less dps for certain builds.
      I personally just use force pulse because it feels better, but it’s still good practice to get it down in general to get good at light weaving different animations.

    Hey man great video and not stretched to 20 minutes like most others without really telling more.
    Ive run into a Problem now because everyone says around 0,8 Light attacks per second would be awesome but with my stamina necromancer with 2h weapon I just can't get past 0,6 because the animation of Brawler, Blastbones and also Detonating Siphon is really slow and reduces my overall speed I think.
    I don't know how to optimize my rotation and also how to be able to maintain my Pace in real combat since atleast in Solo play i have to throw in some heals and stuff more than when parsing ofcourse.
    thanks in advance and best regards from Germany 😊

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  3 года назад +2

      Hi David, Guten Tag!! I just responded to your other comment and recommended this video, lol! What are the odds! The cast time of the abilities you mentioned are instant, they shouldnt eat up more time than 1 gcd. It is very funky and it is something that takes a good bit of patience, practice, and discipline to first learn and then master. 0 people come to eso and hit the gate running with parsing. What you are experiencing is all normal concerns for people making their way through learning to parse well. The best way you can get better is practice and repetition. My #1 suggestion is to start with 1 ability like the video mentions. Get a feel for that 1 ability at .8+ and then maintain that speed. Then start to add in abilities. Then work on a full parse with a full rotation.
      It will never be exactly like a trial dummy in live game play due to mechanics and other players. But the better you are on the dummy and the more parsing becomes second nature to you, the better you will do in live game play.
      If you like, feel free to join our discord, we have a parsing section where we answer players questions all the time. Dont give up, you got this!

    I wish they would just remove light attack weaving, or at least remove the animation cancel. This is the one thing that makes me leave eso ever 3 or 4 months. I absolutely hate weaving and the fact that so much DPS is tied to it.
    After a handful of elitist folks giving me hell because my DPS was not on par with theirs, it became a real turn off.
    In my mind animation cancelling/weaving is = to elitist players, and ZOS approves of it.

    • @Dooma
      @Dooma  3 года назад +4

      Hi Joxster! Thats such a bummer, I am really sorry you have had these negative experiences in ESO. Have you seen some of the ultimate 1 bar builds from my channel? They are capable of really high dps with much less input. I wouldn't let jerks turn you off from such a great game and it really does have a great community that is very helpful here on PCNA. There are however those in every game with a social aspect who thrive on negativity. Luckily for ESO, its the exception and not the rule unlike a lot of other places. If I can assist in anyway, even if its helping with dps, we have a great community in discord that helps players improve their dps. We have taken people who have never seen anything above 30k dps and are in the 80-90s now, all with simple rotations on 1 bar builds. In any event, I hope you find a space in gaming that makes you happy, in ESO or otherwise. Have a great day!

      Hi Ray! Of course! However, unfortunately attractive and immersion doesn't always = top performance. I like the softer side of eso as well: exploring, story lines, questing, graphics, and animation, etc. I also like the really sweaty hard stuff. To stay relevant in the competitive environment of ESO, this mechanic has been established as "the norm" since the beginning and is certainly required to perform on par with competitive peers. I'm just giving people the tools who wish to succeed in that environment.
