I own the "older" version of the Sortainer. Got some foam, cut it out and put my German made tools into it. Good tip is, if you want to make labels for each drawer, you can buy a 1mm (around 1/32 in freedom unit) thick plexi, cut it to size and just print out on normal paper what you want into it. They will fit perfectly and youll know whats inside of them.
Great ideas, thanks for sharing! I was just going to use a label maker, but with my laser cutter/engraver, I could do some neat things with thin plexi.
Thanks for the video. I have the 3-drawer systainer for all my common small tools (pliers, screwdrivers, tape measure, etc.) that I need to have portable. Also have the 1-drawer with opening top to store my DeWalt screw gun and drill. The drawer on the bottom holds drill bits and accessories. I printed labels for each drawer so I don't have to open everything to see what's in there. The great thing is, when I take it to site, it all stacks so conveniently. Now I'm wondering how that rack you showed can organize things more.
That’s a great way to approach the drawers and I’m having a hard time committing to how I’ll organize them. For the rack, that thing is amazing and I feel like I could fill 9 or 10 mini Systainers, so I see myself getting another rack soon. Everything from electrical consumables, networking consumables, concrete anchors, bundled accessories for larger tools, etc.
I got two of the 8.0 batteries (no charger) and One of the two drawer systainers. Already have multiple 3 drawer tlocs I like the six pack thing, thinking I’d sort screws rather than in the organizers, which get heavy and I don’t use all the stuff But didn’t buy one yet, probably get empty then 6 of the transparent lid ones
That's a great idea! 3D printer is the next big purchase on my list. I hadn't heard of Gridfinity before, but there are a lot of options for Festool Systainers and Sortainers - thanks for the suggestion!
I dont know why but my mini systainers keep popping out of the rack, do you have the same problem with yours ? Thanks for the video. Greeting from belgium
@@MasonWoodshop The previous gen are awesome and I'm sure the new ones are, too. I condensed the contents of a Packout 3 drawer and Packout 2 drawer into ONE three drawer Systainer (previous gen). I like them so much I have seven of them.
Unless your a contractor who needs portability i don't get the attraction of sustainers. They are reduculies priced and provide less utility then something you build youself. Don't get me wrong, i have some festool tools, which are overpriced but excellent quality. The first thing i do is find or build a drawer for the tool, and then find a place or use for the sustainer. Rather just spend the money on the tool and put in a recyclable box
he literally payed 500$ to have plastic drawers sitting at his shop 😂, dont get me wrong i bought even more than him but im going to be using them for installs, thats were i think its worth having the minimal space and not having to unstack anything.
Agreed. I think he is just like me, a hobbyist. I built furniture that is for my own use (or sometimes for friends or relatives) so I don't use or even like sustainers. I can't throw them out because if I sell the tool the buyer likely wants the sustained. But if you are a professional that does on site installs, then I get the utility of them.
Wow, thanks for sharing. had no idea these were out.

Great demo.thanks

That’s great!! The Systainer Rack is easily my favourite organizational item of recent years. So handy having themed mini Systainers.
You should get a 3d printer and print your own inserts and maybe incorporate something like gridfinity.

Oh wow, that’s interesting! I’ve used mine quite a bit since posting this video and I’ve never had one pop out.
It’s really dumb that the sys rack doesn’t fit the old systainer minis
I am looking forward to purchasing a couple of the three drawer systainers.
I never had any of the previous generation drawer units, but so far I’m happy with these ones!

Any storage container for the plexi 495246?
Hey! Unfortunately I don’t have the plexi, although I’d love to try it out some time.
say ur rich with out saying ur rich, hold my beer while i get my festool systainers.
Haha! If I had the Festool Cooltainer, my beer would be in there. These are certainly a luxury to have in the shop.
Gotta be honest. Those mini bins look like a nightmare. Looks like they don’t stay put well and have gaps on the side to lose hardware in.
just fyi: from what I learned from recent Festool USA live - the T-loc Systainer Minis don't fit there quite well
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
The older small sustainers do NOT fit the rack system.
