What I think gets overlooked is that Bill wasn’t just her boss or someone she had a child with. They were in a relationship, they deeply cared for each other. It’d be a bloody battle of revenge but in the end it was only going to be them. Beatrix breaking his heart the way he had done to her. He accepted his fate long before she arrived at the villa
Honestly I knew I was watching a Tarantino film so I had no expectation of an all action show down. Infact, dialogue at a table didn't surprise me at all. But what I found more impactful was the fact that Pei Mei taught Beatrix the five finger death punch. So far, we only had two of the characters impressions of him. Bills, who basically called him a cranky old bastard. And Daryl Hanners character, who was belligerent. And from what we see with the other assassin's personalities his experiences with them as students would have ranged from negative to unsatisfactory. However we see Beatrix put up with his harsh training and put in the effort to fight through the pain. And this discipline is what saved her in every obstacle. She held respect for him even after his death and he deemed her a worthy pupil. So much so that he even taught her the one secret move he wouldn't even teach Bill. It wasn't about ending the movie with a big bang of action choreography or even so much about killing Bill for her revenge. It was about one upping him, or usurping his place as Pei Mei's star pupil. The revenge wasn't just his death from the five finger death punch it was the surprise on his face that their master taught it to her. And she got both. That's what made the scene for me and I wouldn't change it any other way.
It’s very striking how the last words, “we deserve to die”, in volume 1 are so melancholy and sincere. But at the start of volume two he adds a chuckle and says “but again so does she”. Completely changing the feel of the scene and the entire movie to come.
I would like a second part to this thank you. Also I love watching your analysis of movies they really help me understand movie making as a whole better and help me have a better understanding of those movies.
PLEASE!!! Do a followup! Kill Bill is one of my all time favorite cinematic projects of all time, and i feel like it's been forgotten. It was such a joy to see this video pop up today.
Hey Cordz, man I thought this chanel was dead. RUclips hasn't been sending me notifications for your chanel or showing me your new uploads since the video previous to this one. Just wanted to let you know cus I think it's a damn shame that the algorithm mistreat's chanels and hopefully knowing this maybe you could file a complaint to RUclips. Please take care and keep producing premium content, I really enjoy you film studies!!
Recently rewatched both movies with my wife and I distinctly remember finding Volume 2 much more interesting and exciting, despite it having much less action. The dialogue and acting is the key.
@@SuperKratosgamer well. I mean. Vol2 has some great action in it. The fight in Budds trailer is trademark Tarantino imo. But I guess alot of people struggle with slower tempo, and maybe it IS to Tarantinos fault that there is a massive pacing (and to some extent, tonal) shift between the two volumes.
The big Kahuna scene and even the ending in Pulp Fiction, the Kill Bill ending, and the Inglourious Basterds table scene, I think, were very much inspired by the table scene in The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Leone was a master at burning suspense and he also happens to be one of Tarantino's favorites and he adapts this skill to perfection.
I have had time off from your vids and it is sooo good to be back! Your insights, analysis, theories and perspectives are so on point and excellently formulated. Would be amazing to discuss topics and films with you. But the content will do. Thanks, just a huge THANKS!
Since i first watched these movies, I always thought both parts were good. But, I am in that majority of ppl who prefer vol 1. That's partly bc I enjoyed watching the setup more than the payoff, but mostly bc Vol 1 has more of the things I enjoy in films: characters, dialogue, and MUSIC (areas where Tarantino excels). I'm not a fan of action, so I didnt miss it much in Volume 2, but what i did miss was the music. Volume 1 had a phenomenal soundtrack, and that's what stuck with me after all these years.
Shiiiit, these are my favorite Tarantino movies... er, movie. I never knew people disliked the ending so much. I thought it was great. Well done on the video!
I remember being 10 watching this movie and just being in awe. I watch this movie at least twice a year. In the beginning I remember being somewhat disappointed by the ending cause of the lack of action. Over the years tho I really grew to appreciate the ending and I've come to the conclusion Bill aint dead. 1. Im pretty sure Pai Mei didnt teach bill the technique so he wouldn't know for sure if the the move she used was the 5 point. 2. He already believes Beatrix should have her revenge so why not just act like you died. plus I think she knows bill isn't dead either. you could say but Bill bled from his mouth after the move and yea but fuck it man you don't think a trained assassin cant just make a lip bleed happen. I don't 100 percent believe this theory but its sometimes fun to imagine.
Cordery! That was by far the most Clickbaity Titel I ever clicked on! I thought I would get an in-depth analysis of the Ending of KillBill2, but I instead get an insight in Trentino and the styles and Charakter moments of all his best works, and I Love It ! That was a Blast and yeah! Pick that Kill Bill Vol.2 Ending in Parts! Please! I want more of that brilliant Mind of yours. Good work. Cya in the next one!
See, in order to enjoy a masterful ending such as the one in the Kill Bill saga, you must have intelligence and interest beyond Marvel superheroes fighting weightless CGI creatures with massive explosions. Fun for the eyes, but there's very little there for the brain.
I love your work Cordery, you have a unique tone and approach. I know this RUclips game is tough and unrewarding sometimes but I hope to be watching your develop your approach for years to come.
i thought it was the perfect end. it had been built up. and you right about opening scene to inglorious basterds (spelt wrong im sure) was brilliant. love your work
After years of not watching these movies, I had to for this video. It's not my personal cup of tea, but that's okay. I can still enjoy a masterclass video though, great work!
I never met anyone that hated Kill bill. I have an edited version where it combines both movies in one go. Yeah it’s like 4 hours but it’s worth it. There’s also an extended version of the hateful 8 that is also better than the theatrical version.
@@matthiasthulman4058 that’s why i say the extended version is better cause there are moments in it that are not in the theatrical version that make it better. Granted I understand that a 4 hour version of the movie sounds unappealing, but it really did show its not as what it seems.
i saw kill bill (both parts) when i was like, 14, or so and i remember the bit that stayed with me the most is how fucking annoyed i was at Bills Superman rant and how frustrated i was at how wrong the movie was about my fave hero. then i watched it like 5 years later when i was less of a dumb kid, and i realized it's actually awesome 'Cause it says so much about BILLS character and that was the actual point. Revisiting scenes is sometimes so rewarding
I'm not a huge fan of Inglorious Basterds, because it could have been so much more. But. That scene is the best writing and acting I've ever seen. I show it to anyone who says they don't like Tarantino, which used to be me.
They should never ever make a Kill Bill 3. This story is over and Beatrix Kiddo deserves her happy ending. I dont care what dumbass fanfiction ideas people come up with ("DUH! How about the daughter of Copperhead wants to fight Beatrix now? It's a revenge cycle of violence that never ends." Oh jeez wow! How inventive. Never been done before. Wow! Fuck off.)
Hey @CorderyFX, can you let me know what editing software and microphone you use? I'm looking into getting some decent grade and quality software and hardware (and from your videos i believe your's is tops) - for some recordings I want to make, and would like some advice if you don't mind?
I also believe that Beatrtix didn't actually kill Bill but they played a sort of "game" ala their reference to "playing possum" earlier in the movie. Also her saying Thank you in the bathroom in the finale, I believe, is her thanking Bill for letting her go and not chasing her.
Out of the blue watched these the other day .... while a big fan of Tarantino I kind of always blindly like everything he has done and honestly kill Bill was always a sleeper Tarantino flick ....but also know a few people who down right hate Tarantino classics like reservoir dogs but love kill Bill...... and being someone who got to experience when this came out , I always loved the ending ... hell mabee the happiest ending of any Tarantino picture and its the fact that there didn't need to be big sword fight ... she learned the one thing he never did and kind of idolized

Imagine after killing all those people to get to bill, the bride forgives him at the last minute and let's him live.

I really wish we would have gotten a Bill movie before he passed away. The character was so layered and cool that I wanted to learn more about him.
That's why i mention making a separate video about the emotional aspect to Kill Bill for that very reason.
@@cordzfx do it. I’d absolutely love to see your take on it.
yeah Bill could have shot her when he had her on the Sofa. He decided to give her a fair chance now.

Couldn’t agree with you more here.
Totally agree! 👌
My Dad, Aunt, Uncle, and I watched both Kill Bills when I was on leave right after bootcamp in the winter of 2004. We were blown away. Good shit!

I remember not being able to get into these movies as a teenager. They deserve a rewatch now
After all as a child I was very stupid. Now as an adult I'm very stupid, but I have gained an appreciation for both style and substance
I always liked the ending, and her using the exploding heart technique was amazing.
Volume 1 is all the questions
Volume 2 is all the answers
Oh man after a long day at work this is what I needed 🔥
