- Segment 1: Mormon Lost Boys
In today's Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) Church, many young men have been thrown out of their homes because of an edict allowing polygamist church elders to monopolize all the eligible young girls. These "lost boys," few of whom have even an 8th-grade education, must adjust to a drastically different America than the one they grew up in. We travel to Utah to meet some of these young men and listen to their harrowing stories.
Segment 2: The Fat Farms of Mauritania
Ironically, in one of the world's poorest countries, obesity is a sign of beauty and wealth. In the West African country of Mauritania, parents send their daughters to rural fattening camps, where they are force-fed over 15,000 calories a day in camel milk, figs, oiled breadcrumbs and couscous. VICE sends its skinniest correspondent to one of these camps to examine the impact of force-feeding on young women in a society that loves them so plump.
Segment 3: Mumbai Slumscraper
Nowhere in the world is the collision of caste and future more apparent than in Mumbai, where more than half its residents live in slums sprawled in the shadow of billion-dollar, single-family skyscrapers. VICE travels to Mumbai's Dharavi slum, where over a million people live in abject poverty while billion-dollar single-family skyscrapers are being built on top of them.

VICE News Welcome interviews, Almighty Creator Lord Me is here on earth 🌍 now ...
Thank you vice
Beauty is always about being able to achieve the 'rarer'. If food is everywhere, one looks good skinny. If food is scarce, one looks better fat. That's how the world is.
Very interesting way to put it. Kudos!
11kreep Gautam Singhania actually suffers from vitiligo
I need to move to Mauritania!
@@psychicrenegade 😂
I think alot of it goes back on what we are "taught" as well.
I love how Shane meets someone for the first time (even if he's been talking to them on the phone or through video) and he becomes extremely comfortable and relaxed with them. It's the exact quality you need, in order to do what he does. And it seems like he's being completely genuine. You can tell when he's just trying to be nice or when he's being genuine and he's being genuine most of the time
Every episode of Vice reminds me of how lucky I've got. Fucking hate saying that, but looking at the poverty in India, middle class in America, I've got it good...
that's how the U.S government wants you to think.
America Fuck Yea!
cinamin45 I don't know. It seems like I rather living in this NSA, foolish, corrupted country rather than Dharavi slum...
JustSok No one is doubting that, but don't think too much about how 'lucky' you are that's exaclty how they get away with taking more of your shit.
JustSok your not lucky persay, theyre just unlucky....your living more or less how people should live everywhere
VICE is making a difference by doing these awesome reports. You can't fix the problem if you don't know it exists.
I really think vice should talk about a single subject in depth with their episodes instead of briefly touching on many. I find it very frustrating as their content and documentaries are amazing, the format is just poorly done in the tv show.
Archetype00 this. They can’t really get into the meat of the topic and the cultural aspects/impacts of it
I think they should talk about disparity in America and explain to the 99% why they should put their foot down and demand changes for the betterment of society
thomas is always getting the shitty end of the stick for interviews lol
***** Hello my name is Dr Greenthumb and Id like to tell you where Im from
+Dr.GreenTheSmoking Machine Cos Thomas is a baddass. Lol
Little house on the Prairie mixed with the children of Korn LMAO
not the episode to watch while eating cereal
*****
Too late.
Wowwww i wish i seen your comment sooner 🤢🤢
Cinnamon toast crunch 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Oobydooby Tooby my favorite cereal
the first tour guide in India seemed like such a gracious man. You could tell he wanted to bad mouth the rich, but he took the high road. He knew that badmouthing the rich would not help him or those others in poverty. i wish i could hang out with him
Thanks again Shane, and your crew, for showing us more and more about this world.
I don't really care if there is rich people in the world. But I think that money should be always kept moving and invested in something, not stored in some bank account. That way it generates jobs and progress. And something like 30 story >private< building next to a slum... come on -.-
Well it did create jobs to build it, and it creates 600 jobs to run it, but it's all tied up in one small centre. Imagine how many small companies and services 1 billion dollars could create.
***** You get money by investing it. If you save money you will never get rich, basics of business. By investing money to business you gain revenue and it generates jobs etc. same time.
Randy Marsh Yep, he should build a big mansion to some nice place like normal billionaires :D I wouldn't want to see slums everywhere I look.
***** You won't really find any millionaires that got rich by saving money, excluding those who inherited or got it from lottery or something.
***** What's your point? And I'm awesome by the way.
Yeah, if I built a 1 billion dollar home next to a slum I might worry about bad press.
well buddy its the way you look at things... for me billion dollar home next to slum suggest, rich and poor living together. The best part about slums in india unlike any other slums in world is they don't involve in activities like drugs, kidnapping. They are just trying to make a honest hard earned living the right way and the reason why i love India.
vikram singh Lol Its called exploitation
vikram singh You think those poor people are enjoying a nice life? They are starving to death, have poor health and no education. What a privilege for the billionaire to live next to the slumdogs.
vikram singh lol
It's not next to the slum, it's far off it. But because it's a high rise, it can be seen from some areas in the slum. That billionaires house is actually in a rather posh area of south mumbai, while the slums are in central mumbai. There are sections of the city with slums, does that mean u don't live in good houses if u can afford them, or if slum dwellers can see them? Do westerners drop their belongings just so that some slum dweller won't feel bad about his situation, if he sees a western person living in luxury.
Thomas is hilariously awkward.
"One man's trash is another man's treasure." Literally
The founder of Vice is worth 400 million. No irony in the pot calling the kettle black.
Where is that number coming from?
93NissanAltima Alright seems legit. God how is Vice worth that kind of money?
MultiInko
Quinn Weber Forbes.
is that shanes fault? did he ask to be worth 400 million? I don't quite get how this even matters...
cinamin45 He's talking about wealth inequality and trying to get those rich Indian guys feel guilty about their wealth.
"India"
*Sitar starts*...
Like whyyyy?
Rubine James because sitar is a kick ass instrument
This got me wanting to move to Utah and help all these boys, bless them all
"its a super club that we go to..."
my reaction: *pukes*
Nah you are just jealous...;)
+KISHAN SINGH No, we just think human rights & dignity should be respected.
Very awesome of you guys to release these episodes!
man i love VICE ---- show what fucked up world this is
I always feel bad for thomas, i dont know why, he just looks bad all the time
lol he's a hipster. Looking good is mainstream
Gotta love the algorithm of RUclips recommens... Didn't realize this is 6 years old. 🤷🏼♀️ I'd LOVE an update on the Mormon "outcasts." Especially the young men who believed Jeffs wasn't a bad man. 🤦🏼♀️ @ViceNews
This is another startlingly eye-opening episode of VICE, perhaps one of my favorites. VICE truly never fails to show the absurdity of the modern condition.
121 pounds it pretty damn light.
I can't imagine how bad COVID must've been in those slums..
It really hurts seeing people in such poor conditions knowing there's pretty nothing being done to help :(
Covid wasnt around then.
@@austinmontgomery1769you think those slums just disappeared off the face of earth before Covid hit? 😂😂😂
These "lost boys" are good kids. You can tell they are only going to benefit our society ... so thanks... yea I guess thanks for raising your boys to be honest / hardworking / loyal / caring men and then kicking them out like they aren't blood to a world that needs more good / honest men and woman.
You can tell the one young man misses his family and just wants to go home... he's still a kid.
Writing yeah right many are pedophiles
thomas bro, 121 lbs? fat camp will do you some good
The FLDS shit is insane! I hope those exiled kids have an opportunity to have a good life, they deserve a better life, they're brave!
Great documentary except for the script. Does it have to suck for it to be on HBO? I thought that Vice had standards, and yes, I am talking about the CEO.
i know exactly how these kids feel. having a con artist dad who brainwashes and controls produces the same feelings when you leave. i feel for you guys!
Gavage: "Two or three lunches daily, you stay inside and try not move; you dont have a job." Thomas just described my adult son. Murica....the land of on line video games, fast food and man-tits.
Really VICE ? REALY ? You send this little tiny man for that mission? ////LOL!
LMFAO i thought he was gonna die
Ditsepu Segerane Maybe they don't like Thomas. If they are sending him to interview cannibals after this story, we will know the answer.
He seems to be the one they like to send off on stories where he'll be abusing his body. Wasn't he also sent to that Christmas fist-fighting thing in Peru?
Nice Lacoste shirt, Shane. Probably made by some of those kids in the slums of India. :)
+Emily Ní Ifearnáin nah gurl india aint bout that u wanna say bangladesh they tight with clothin these days
Lmao when he said they sent Thomas I was like noooooo but they actually did!🤦🏼♂️😂 what a guy to send to such a place he always stands out so much I love it
i love the last segment. such a clear show of the wealth disparity
Another great episode.
Keep it up, Vice
- A college student
One of the best representations of an Indian slum I've ever seen. Congratulations. The polygamy cult has been well documented elsewhere, but nice job showing the paranoia of their "God Squad" and the vestiges of loyalty that stubbornly remain in the exiled. That's a real mind fuck, and if the state doesn't have an interest to step in there and fix the situation, they might as well have no laws at all anywhere.
THOMAS.. YOU ARE SUCH A TROOPER.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING
I have been Mumbai two years ago, back to the time, the scene is more than we can imagine..
Crazy how different those Mumbai slums are compared to our beautiful cities and neighborhoods here in the US. Even our worst "slums" or "ghettos" look like paradise compared to Mumbai's slums
India actually needs more rich people! Because with them, the poor and their educated kids have no opportunity for jobs. India needs a lot of rich people. But here is the problem. India has this so called "middle class". These people are an epidemic. They aren't aspirational like the rich, and then to "think" themselves as "poor". They have the cash, and have full potential to earn in millions. But they don't . Too much of a risk. These people need to turn into entrepreneurs.
Man, that whole city looks like a real life Neil Blomkamp movie.
It’s crucial that Mormon Women have hair cuts circa 1987.
And never have a Gavash milkshake
Don't know how anyone can dislike Vice, you guys bring the real news from all over the world. And you're usually good at keeping bias out of it, you present all sides well and leave your personal bullshit out of it. Much better than watching the non sense that's on TV.
"Half of the world is living off the garbage of the other half in this post-apocalyptic nightmare." Bravo.
Just because someone hasn't directly beaten you...doesn't mean they haven't HURT you, Leroy!
Thomas gets fucked up assignments
Damjan Plamenac fat is good ... because i am fat too lol
Damjan Plamenac yeah they should have sent that drunk fatso shane to do it
Poor Thomas. He always gets the shit detail. He’ll do anything for a story.
Cant you just make these available in the UK? Its not like you're actually stopping anyone...
go to their website
***** i have youtube unblocker thats why i said they're not actually stopping anyone
Sam Hewitt if you you use a proxy it masks your location and most proxy plugins will also use some form of encryption.
VICE is indescribably awesome. You can't beat their raw realism.
Thomas is a great journalist! You guys should hire Stacey Dooley she is awesome too (but she works at BBC I think?)
They should just cut off warren’s communication with the outside world.
No matter if they're being force fed or not, that girl is really pretty!
Aww...those girls who were laughing at him for having a stomach ache were adorable. A shame they are stuck in those barbaric societies. But hey, to them, that's life. Glad they seem really happy despite their tall task
Amazing stuff, this is why I love Vice
Hanan does seem real sweet though
KEEP UP THE THE GREAT WORK VICE TEAM !
HAPPY 2015 .
SPECIAL THUMBS UP FOR SHANE GREAT JOB MY DUDE.
What's with the audio? This is great, but there's a bit of a problem here compared to the rest which are just fine.
That part when they're in india, when they do a close up of the green water..
22:03 - 22:35 That part really opened my eyes, it's almost like a cience fiction movie scene.
I think it's right shameful to have such an amazing hotel of a house right next to a slum. He could build a regular mansion and give the rest to house and feed all of those poor people
"Force-feed" is such a cringe phrase. Seeing that little girl vomit didn't help either.
The disparity does not seem like ending soon either.
i really think each of the issue in this episode should have their own documentary because there are more stuff that we can know and learn. they are making each very short just to fit them in a 30 min in HBO which is so sad.
Jampack documentaries in just 29 mins. Cant help but hit the like button
Vice could have done more to support the story as showing one wealthy guy in Mumbai doesn't really support it.
Most American men haven't weighed 121 pounds since they were in the 9th grade.
Awesome, awesome videos, Shane! Please, keep up the great work! Sincerely, you and your crew are true journalists!
It's interesting that Shane finishes by saying half of the world is living off the garbage of the other half in this post-apocalyptic nightmare. I agree in a sense, but when was the apocalypse? It seems that some of us weathered it quite well.
Honestly this is disgusting, how can you care so little about something that is right in your face? This guy is obsessed with himself and building a higher building than the other billionaire, all while people around him are almost drowning in sewer waters. Unbelievable.
Thank you Shane another great set of news stories, your the man. Oh ya by the way do you guys from vice actually read these if so you wanna hook it up with the answer to if you have offices in Australia. Thank you
Very interesting information. I learned a lot! Regards from Mexico.
i always watch past the credits cuz the music is always great
Why did Vice stop making these worth watching documentaries?
Funny how the super rich guy is also super white.
I allways look forword to VICE NEWS. Thanks for the in-sight on the world .
Im just so fascinated:) VICE rips!
Why is the sound quality on these episodes always so poor? It has a hollow sort of quality to it.
here is my advice to anyone going to india. When you arrive in Delhi get the fuck out of their. It is the scariest creepiest place on earth espically at night. i have been to india over 30 times and everytime i arrive at delhi airport their is always something fucked up you will see outside. Go far away from the megacities if you want to have the best time in your vacation. Go to rajasthan that is wear the kings use to live their are huge palaces you can view and that state is really beautiful peacocks everywhere deer running and the people their are wonderful. Dont even get me started on mumbai...
Wow, if I had billions of dollars, I wouldn't waste it on such petty stuff. I would try to change the world positively with it.
Absolutely. Plus you leave behind a legacy of your own as well.
Bullcrap
The abuse of the animals is heart-breaking. Many geese die while or after being force-fed. The little goat whose leg is tied to a post is crying out for his family, and is being ignored.; goats are social animals and need to be in a pack in order to feel safe and secure.
Hannan from the 2nd story is kinda cute
09:49 he just loves that triple 6 sign so much ,every show he shows it atleast 3 times even tho when his talking it doesnt have meaning behind sentence, atleast we know now for who he has his loyalty
keep putting these on youtube!
@Vice News. My family is planning a trip to India. I would love to teach my children the other end of the coin so they can appreciate what we have.
Where can I find the tour guide that helped you
“At this point, I don’t give a shit about money,” he said. “I’m worth more money than I can ever spend. The best piece of advice I ever got from anyone was when Spike Jonze said take money out of the equation. And that’s actually when Vice started making lots of money. That’s when I stopped worrying about money and started worrying about what I wanted to do.” - Shane Smith
Phenomenal, this series was a great idea. I really hope Shane helped out some of those people in the slum though.
The gap between rich and poor is growing, but the extreme poor are getting less poor. As long as poverty decreases, I personally am willing to accept the rich getting richer if that's the price.
sleeping under their sewing machines... wow that third report is crazy
Rent is relatively impossible for some working class folks in Mumbai, so many of them live where they work.
I'm from the Union of India.
would love any kind of warning when there is someone about to projectile vomit jeezus
Man, dude, after everything that's happened that kid is still brainwashed.
For me billion dollar home next to slum suggest, rich and poor living together. The best part about slums in india unlike any other slums in world is they don't involve in activities like drugs, kidnapping, murder etc. They are just trying to make a honest hard earned living the right way and the reason why i love India.
Not true much crime in the slums of India
Thanks for reporting news Around the world
On 26:10 that guy is so afraid on its Lamborghini that he doesn't even care about something else .
the world i live in gets even more sicker with every episode i watch.. damn
Can you please make this available in the UK
vice is the only news worth watching
