      All of it. Expectations are to fake.. how about the company goes through an audit before you apply? Funny how we have to lay over backwards to be disrespected.. especially in a right to work state.. I believe this all works in a church. But we are in the real world.. not on a hill in a million dollar home lying to ourselves..

      Or course, not to trash your former employer. But I don’t agree with the suggested answer either. It’s easy to see through the mention of other members of the team leaving. I would see this also as an oblique criticism and a hint that you are running away. When recruiting, I want to see the candidate wanting to work with us because of how we are, not because of how their old workplace is. Also, the suggested answer doesn’t sound natural to me. It sounds like something learned off by heart and fake. Best way to be is yourself, and without any negative talk. You can always find positive reasons for wanting to work in the new company. If you can’t, you shouldn’t apply.

    I had not been interviewed for a job in 24 years. The separation from my last position was not my choice. I anguished about the way I would inform my next opportunity because I did not want to tear down my employer even if they warranted a derogatory review. This was a positive way to talk about the separation. I used it in the interview. The interviewer stated that it was the most professional explanation she had heard to date. Sincerely, Thank you!

    Don't beat yourself up if you don't get a job because it is very competitive nowadays. One opening job, there are too many applicants. Also, some hiring managers like males more than females or vice versa or they like some certain race. We don't know what they are thinking. Getting a job also depends on luck.

    • @1keyl
      @1keyl Год назад +25

      Unfortunately, not luck, as much as deeply rooted prejudice sometimes. We know there are laws against discrimination in the workplace. I would say 99% of the discrimination that happens in relation to work, goes under wraps, in a very tight, interpersonal sphere, be clearly perceived (or at least felt, somewhat) by the recipient, and still, not be accounted for, in a way that can be brought to the surface. There are people who have already half dismissed an applicant before he / she enters the room, based on their last name.

    • @LeNguyen-im8dm
      @LeNguyen-im8dm Год назад +5

      @@1keyl Agree. Last names matter a lot for some certain jobs.

    • @graceoverall
      @graceoverall Год назад

      Yeah, total discrimination, which is highly illegal but difficult to prove, and totally (and ironically) encouraged with all the DEI bullcrap companies are pushing these days. It should be about qualifications and personality, NOT superficial crap like gender, skin color, etc. 🤬

    • @graceoverall
      @graceoverall Год назад

      @@1keyl DEI is at its very core, discriminatory. Period! Yet, it's somehow become culturally accepted and even celebrated. How hypocritical is that? We decry racism on one hand, and on the other celebrate institutionalized discrimination as long as its in favor of brown people? WTAF!? So loving! So tolerant! So compassionate! 🤮 How about we actually put our money where our mouth is and deeply contemplate those famous words spoken by the great civil rights leader having streets named after him in virtually every large city, MLK Jr. to "not be judged by the color of [our] skin but by the content of [our] character." It's remarkable to me how blind people are to their own hypocrisy. The irony of that is staggering.

    it just sucks when your not a naturally talkative person and you want to showcase your skills but they dont ask you any technical questions, or pretty much any questions. i been interviewing for simple maintenance mechanic jobs I had like 5 interviews this month that were basically meet and greet. it's just so awkward for me to brag about myself especially when they dont even ask me anything aside from why did you leave your last job. i swear sometimes i think some places just have to make a quota for how many people they interview and they already know by your resume that they dont want you but they call you in anyways.

    • @jm7514
      @jm7514 7 месяцев назад +6

      What they are asking is- are you going to be a pain in the butt? - a chronic no show/ late, injury prone, not able to meld into the culture they have. A way around this is for you to say, while I am confident in my abilities and happy to talk about them I detail, I want you to know that I am my abilities are a result of my personal high standards which include reliability ,attention to detail , being self motivated whilst also able work as a team member. I ask for help when I need it, and am curious and enjoy learning. Also, due to your job, incorporate a strong statement about safety.- again, not a liability. This is the crux of Every interview- litigation.

    • @gristamshackleford2102
      @gristamshackleford2102 6 месяцев назад

      @@jm7514 what you're saying is true and great advice, but what i was trying to say is i had a few interviews where they didn't really ask me anything at all, and i had the feeling i was just there because they wanted to interview X number of people before they hired someone. a few weeks after i wrote that i got hired for a decent job that i am happy with atm. at that interview they did ask me a few things and i could tell they were interested. and yea they mostly wanted to see how dependable and motivated i was.

    Thank you for this info. I am leaving an industry for another and my skills are a bit rusty. Most of what was said is common sense . Body language is the best skill to have when dealing with people as it can tell you a lot of what the person is about. The people who interview you may have this skill and see through your deception or outright lie. In an industry, it's conceivable that the interviewer might know your old boss and will verify your answers to questions so, use caution.

    The suggestion not to talk trash about your former company is very good, but the suggested alternative(2:15) is the same trash, just a little bit wordy . The interviewee makes an impression of a person who tries not to talk trash, but can't resist the temptation.

      Sometimes the company is already planning on hiring or promoting the person from within. But if it is a company that deals with the government or a nonprofit, or receives any kind of funds or government resources they have to advertise and INTERVIEW other candidates they know who they’re going to put into that position already, and it’s someone who they know fits their culture and has been doing a good job, and it’s going to be promoted. So what are you going to do? No one tells you that that’s what’s happening, but that is what sometimes happens. Wouldn’t it be nice if companies were truthful about it? Can you imagine if the interviewer said the truth well, we already have someone in mind, but we are required to advertise this position and interview for it?❤ no disrespect, but it does happen.

I wouldn't bring up something as impressive sounding as this unless you can speak in very specific detail with someone who knows this kind of thing well... if you clearly don't know what you're talking about in any deep level, it ends up feeling like a bait and switch to the hiring manager

      the same goes for a new relation, how about you meet somebody new, and the person trashes his/her ex...? you might wonder if such a person is a good partner for you bc she/he might easily do it later to you, trashing you behind your back.

    She could literally play Megan Markle in a movie. But she needs an actual mic next time. I'm so distracted by the echo in her voice. Why do we need such a script for a job?? Who really cares for these silly rules of employment? Everybody has a bad experience at a job at some point. And sometimes it's a really toxic environment. Employers should already know that you had a bad experience at ur current or last job obviously, cuz that's why ur applying for a new job in the first place. I really hate that they expect u to lie. Cuz no one in their right mind really means some of the things they say in an interview sometimes. Granted, ppl should still have the skills and experience or education required for the job before applying. But they wanna hire someone perfect with the perfect answers. But no one is perfect. Ppl will fake it till they make it. Even the person doing the interview should understand this cuz they've prob exaggerated or omitted things from their own job interview or resume. I think the most annoying question is, "Why do u wanna work here?" 'Because like you and everyone else in the world, I need a job to support myself and my family. This seems like a decent environment'. Why does it need to be more complicated than that? I feel like specific petty details like these keep ppl from getting a job sooner. And can we please get rid of the cover letter?? It just feels very pointless and redundant at this period in time.

When I go on job interviews and I see what other people are wearing, you know they have not a chance, I mean some of them look like they just rolled out of bed. You feel so much better when you dress professionally, you probably won’t have to after you get hired, but just walk around the facility and see how people are dressed for work. You can even sit in the lobby and look at the people as they come in and out, that makes an impression be vigilant, be focused, see what’s going on and most importantly, see if you like it, and if you feel that you would fit in there❤
