- Have you ever worked with drawers slides before? Side mount, undermount, soft close.. what do these terms even mean! Installing your first drawer slide can certainly be overwhelming so by the end of this video you will have knowledge to confidently tackle your project.
Join Vic from Vic Tesolin Woodworks as he walks us through everything you need to know about choosing the right model for your particular project and how to install it. He chats about the 4 different models that we carry here at KJP Select Hardwoods.
PRO100, PRO300, PRO500, and Blum Tandem

One detail I think was missed is that the drawer box length must match the under-mount slide length (e.g. no extra inch can be added to the box even if the carcass allows, thanks to the slide’s pin at the back). In comparison, the side-mounts don’t have any such restriction so boxes can be as long as you like. Hope that’s correct!
Nicely done, nicely explained. Thank you!
Wow, Great Video dude, thank you
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
What if you want a slide that mounts to the bottom of the drawer, but also to the base of the cabinet? There's nowhere to mount on the side.
No response.
Okay then, well explained.
Never done this before so I am asking....These are sold per pair??
Yes - sold by the pair. Here is the direct link: kjpselecthardwoods.com/collections/drawer-slides
What about undermount slides that are mounted in the center?
So sidemount looses 1" on the sides and undermount looses maybe 1/2" on the height
Which style of slide is easier to get the perfect install for proper spacing on a drawer that will be fully recessed compared to one where the front overlaps and can cover up errors in spacing?
Undermount has the best adjustability and margin of error in case the drawer is a little to big or to small. You can adjust vertically and horizontally along with depth depending on brand.
Hi Vic, are you the same Vic that does the veritas videos?
I have a new store pre fab vanity I'm trying to adjust the bottom draw slides for soft close drawers. The drawers close great but having resistance to get the drawer open. Once it's past that soft close part it opens smoothly the rest of way...any suggestions? I've already done the adjustments on the bottom of the drawers to fine tune any tilt etc
Not sure what to suggest... I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and seeing what they recommend. Good luck!
Switch to the 8450FM slides from KV. FM= Force Management and allows for less force from the user. Still soft close.
nice
👍
Hey, if I currently have a side mount, is it possible to change to under mount, or am I stuck?
No unfortunately I don't think this will be possible
