I bought eleven jackets that didn't fit because my shirt pokes out! His story is hard to believe for sure.
They were made in China or Korea. Its legal to counterfeit clothing there.

The first giveaway is that he supposedly continued to buy these jackets (individually according to him) which makes no sense if they "don't fit him right". Why would you continue to purchase a style of jacket you don't like? Secondly, Peter did a great job of identifying the flaws in manufacturing and the zipper layout (which isn't coach). I don't know for a fact if he's a scammer, but it sure seems that way.

He think he bought them online or from a local Chinese importer, they didn’t fit well or he didn’t like them and so he was going to resell them. Not being fully honest and transparent to the potential buyer ended up being his scam.
Anyone that would pay like five grand for a bunch of jackets wouldn’t be taking them to the trading post brand new. He knew what he had.
Same thing with people that bring in the fake hockey jerseys, those things are easy to spot for anyone who actually pays attention to an authentic jersey.
The guy is so coll calm and collected there is NO WAY he paid even 400 for ONE jacket and now trying to sell it off for 100 USD !

He mumbled over his own words and (lack of) reasoning. The shop owner handled it well, despite the sham sale being attempted. Hopefully the next shop confiscated the jackets, and then took that fellow out back for a good, well deserved @ss whippin'. Seriously.

I had a WWII Army footlocker that was my uncle’s who was a paratrooper. A friend’s teenage daughter wanted it along with my mother’s late 30’s doll with her own trunk with original clothes, shoes and clothes hangers. It is difficult to sell stuff but I would rather give it to someone who is interested in it for personal use. My daughter in law wanted my Waterford crystal and solid maple Boos table and 6 chairs and she and my son promptly sold it. I was doing them a favor since they were buying a home but had to get a replacement. I have my great grandparents roll top desk from the early 1900’s as well as a trunk from the 1880’s but people want it for profit not to enjoy. Family members might regret losing connections with their ancestors.

I worked in sewing factories over 20 years, one factory told me if I sewed only one shirt a day, no problem but it had to be perfect!! And if the jackets were real Coach, they would be perfect.

Right. Even if he bought legit Coach jackets at a "discount", he's not trying to get $200 for two of them. The lowest I've ever seen those style Coach jackets are around $750 (for the zippered main body), so there's no way he's trying to get so little if they're legit.

(continued from below comment:)see what the scam was all about. The guy starts off trying to sell me a clearly knock off leather jacket, marked MSRP $2,500.00. He was asking $1,000.00 for the jacket. He explained that he just attended a trade show and he had exhibited the jackets, and because of tariff restrictions, he could not return to Europe with the jackets, so he had to get rid of them here for an enormous loss.I explained to him that I did not like the jacket and besides, it was way over priced. In a few minutes, he offered me three jackets for $500.00. When I told him that I wasn't interested in any of his stuff and began to walk away, the guy became quite agitated and started to advance toward me. I advised him that he better reconsider his intended course of action. I guess the smile on my face and the gleam in my eye conveyed the message. The guy then jumped back into the van and fled south on Broadway without stopping for several red lights.
True Coach jackets would never have Asian writing on them. Dead give away they aren't real.

@@save2rave61 as Peter mentioned in the video the easiest tells are consistent stitching and workmanship. I can’t personally see the stitching in the video so it’s really hard to tell but the most important detail is stitching and workmanship and pattern consitencies which aren’t sloppy from mid to luxury brands . It’s very easy to clone other features like zippers , tags , holograms , serials etc Like are super easy to replicate and writings now days easy to mimick and much of the core design but the quality on these type of brands should be the first tell. Replicas are becoming soooo close to real especially since they are manafactured in a lot of the same foreign facilities I’ve seen the change in the last 5 years bigger than ever on how close they are.

So I live close to Peters shop and I also buy a lot from a guy on Poshmark who is also from Northern IL and a big reseller on there , and guess what that guy has four coach jackets same colors and same size on there for $200 each, looks like he has sold one.

He kept saying these didn't fit. As it went on, I got suspicious and they were fake. These were poor craftmanship. It really sucks because it hurts the market very much with these fakes out there. The wallpaper was probably added on at some point in history when wall paper was popular at the time. Very nice chest. People might be interested because it original. I think $36 was fair price. Out of all the luxury brands I own coach is the least expensive but one of the most durable. Out of the fendi, Gucci and loro piana I own, loro and coach hold up the best. I still have a coach letterman jacket that I’ve had for four years it’s leather and wool I think. Still in the same condition i bought it in and wear it all the time when weather permits. I mean it looks like it’s been worn but in excellent condition. On the other hand I have Gucci that has some issues over a couple months of wear. I use a local tailor to fix them. I shouldn’t have to given the price.

I always wear a mask and pull my cap way down when I am going to sell my three totally legitimate leather jackets that all didn't fit.
He knew they were fake! Comes in mask on, (which I don't have an issue with as here in Australia the delta variant is running rampant n here in Victoria we're in our 6th lockdown, or is it 7th....). So many people come in to sell stuff but it always seems to be just such complete randomness. Same situation with other knockoffs from AliExpress. No way to know where he was in the purchase chain.. but as others said no way he purchased these individually over time then realized the sleeves are short he would have removed the Chinese tags if he was intentionally being dishonest.

6:25 gives away that he knows they aren't legit when he says he saw them on their website. Doing a little research, the only ones I can find online with the 2 zippers up top are sold on ebay or other third party sites. Not finding any history of genuine Coach with 2 zippers up top.
I don't think Coach has ever had a men's leather jacket with two main body zippers. I've seen a lot of Coach jackets over the years and that was the first thing I noticed on these jackets. Those are knock off jackets he's trying to sell for more than he probably paid for them.

The first clue was, who buys 4 of the same style jacket, over 4000.00 of jackets, you would return, and most of us just buy one to see if it fits. Coach usually uses Lamb Leather, you can feel they are very soft, those looked a little stiff.

No, he's a poor actor. It's important to be a sharp minded detective even before a single word is said. He seemed neither genuinely surprised nor interested in going back to whoever was vending the jackets in the first place. People lie, some are better skilled at it than others. Look people directly in the eye when speaking with them while asking them very detailed questions. This will usually tell you everything you need to know about their integrity over the matter.
The shop owner handled it very well despite his time being wasted.
