yes 🙏
@isanadin he's already seen it
ahahahah
Serial experiments lain is another one
When first Dark S1 premeired, people thought it might be like Stranger Things. But we can all agree that Dark is actually superior.
It’s funny to even think how I started this show thinking I’m gonna get something as good as Stranger Things and it proved to be so infinitely better, now comparing it to ST is kind of disrespectful😭
Stranger Things became a kids show and one of those dragged out shows in Netflix, while Dark remains a perfectly planned Masterpiece from start to end
Agreed 100%.
Comparing Dark to Stranger Things is like comparing a cake to a gum on the bottom of your shoe.
Stranger Things is junk food compared to this 4 star gourmet meal.
Dark is THE show for Im. Mans about to analyze the shit out of it, can't wait lol
The way they craft all the symbolism and mythical lore into this series is so masterly done!!
Also a lot of German folklore sprinkled in just because they can.
The incredible and unique story construction, wow!
Baran and Jantje are so creatively intelligent, so crazy talented!
I'm in awe!!
Love listening to you talk about Dark!
Thank you :)
What's cool about this show is how it's grounded in a real world. You bring up a good point about Ulrich not recognizing his own brother after 33 years. That's reality plus the fact that time-travel doesn't even enter the equation because its an impossibility as far as most people believe. At most they would think he's a doppelganger.. References to films like the Matrix, popular video games and music and old brand candy bars also ground it in a real world.
the casting for this show it's insane
It’s funny to think how you noticed so much details about Mystery Man’s appearance already, meanwhile on my first watch I was just thinking about how hot he is😭😭😭😭
LMAO.. Same
guilty haha
Same, I was distracted from his hotness haha
me with noah lmao
There's so much you notice in the dialog after watching the whole show. Masterful storytelling in this show.
I love how you pick out all the details, you always deliver with your reactions! Can't wait for your analysis of the upcoming episodes, there's a lot in store. I'm also glad you were immersed in this journey from episode one, it really goes to show how geniusly crafted this series is.
I just want more careful and insightful reactors to watch Dark. It's such a great story, delivered and executed so well. It deserves more hype than it already gets.
I think that if ulrich and katharina didn't attribute importance to mikkel and to them he was just a random kid i don't think they'd remember their brain wouldn't have withheld it even! tbh i think irl it'd work like that too.. . Personally ik that my brain won't hold any info that it doesn't deem important at that moment, but also the human brain tends to forget how people look like after a long time or distorts those physical features a bit so even they kinda remembered, i think the image won't be clear and add on top of that the constant thought of '' that's impossible" and u'll have them doubting themselves!!!
... Idk maybe it's just my brain again...
There is also the phenomenon that you do not see (literally) what your brain doesn't expect. Time travel is not expected (at least not in my life).
@@connectingthedots100 yeesss exactly!!!
Started watching this series cuz of you starting it too. I'd never heard of the show before but I love a good mystery, and the time travel is just such a great cherry on top. It's a lot of fun watching an episode and trying to pick out as many details as I can, and then going over to see your reaction and see what I might've missed. Love hearing your insights and theories, they really help me with putting the pieces together in this complex show haha
Well dark is on par with shows like bb and got
I'm doing this as well haha
Ive never enjoyed a discussion more, Dark and AOT are my top 2 shows
And... subscribed.
Nice to see another reaction to Dark, and one that gives it the thought and love the show deserves.
Just a tip: watch the OP. It's beautiful, spoiler-free and adds so much mood to the experience...
I have finished season 1 a couple days ago, and watching it again through FilmBuff's reactions is so great, because I put so much more together that I missed the first time around (like the blood on Tronte's sweater for example). This is one of the more rewatchable shows, every single detail is inmportant.
Well, its not really blood, is it? 😉
47:36 - "It's starting to become clear that Hannah is a bit problematic"
Oh buddy, understatement of the year 😂

Jantje Friese must be watching you analyse their show. The creators love juicy analysis 😊
Oh that would be so cool if they came across my vids.
damn i had to get patreon for this series, Dark is easily in my top 5 shows from Netflix, and plus the directors always planned it out as 3 seasons so every little detail counts
I can't think of a better show for you to watch and analyze than Dark. REALLY looking forward to this.
Oh man Istg you don’t know how much this video makes me happy. Thanks.
Just stumbled upon your reaction to this great show and so far I love it! You are very perceptive and pick up on details, and you remember the characters even though there are many. It's quite rewarding to see. 😊 Looking forward to watching the rest of them. 🙂👍
I like your appreciation of the score. It has some GREAT music and sound effects. You're doing a great job speculating, and as I can read from the comments below, I can tell you're not easily surprised by a twist. But I feel like this show might just do that at some point!
So glad you seem to be enjoying this , ever since I originally watched this show I thought this was the perfect show for you
not everyone has your photographic memory man 😭
of course mikkel's parents won't remember a weird kid knocking at their door 33 years in the past..
Yay it's here!
As someone who hasn't really properly rewatched Dark (as in I just check one clip or one ep if I feel like) this ep just reminded me of how sad Mikkel's disappearance was. I almost forgot the sadness it caused to everyone around him... And it just reminded me of how curious I was as to what will happen to the poor kid.
Anyway, god I'm sure you'd enjoy this show, seeing as to how there's already so much to analyze at ep2.
P.S. I honestly feel happy because I watch 4 series out of the ones you're reacting to. I'm tempted more than ever to subscribe to Patreon. Haha! I'm most excited about aot and dark though.
Tmi but it's actually my first time following a reactor's sns and actually being excited about the uploads. I used to find the reaction genre of RUclips videos a bit.... Hmm.. nonsense. I thought, "why should I watch random strangers make :o faces on screen " LMAO. But your contents are different. You actually analyze and your analyses do make sense, regardless of whether they're right or not (in which case, they often are right. Lol). Your channel made me realize that reactions are actually enjoyable. Hahah
Gee sorry for the lengthy comment. Until next time!
I've watched dark relatively not to long ago, just last year's spring, expecting pretty much nothing, haven't heard anything about show and was checking just purely out of curiosity. Have i not expected this to be one of the best stories if not THE best out there, all elements included. So glad to see it here, an actual masterpiece.
Really enjoying your reactions and reviews. Sorry for posting random comments now, way after your initial upload, but i just now found your reactions, and maybe something i write will still be of value for you or someone else discovering this amazing show. About the unknown guy that's now in the hotel: He's credited as "The Stranger". Whenever a new character is introduced, the end credits will name him, even if it's just a placeholder name until we learn their identity. So in that case, always look at the end credits for the interim name. It's not about giving hints as to their identity, it's about using a certain name that everyone agrees on. I've seen other reactors come up with their own nicknames for characters, and it gets a bit hard to follow sometimes when they're usually called something else. Again, you're picking up so many clues, very attentive viewer, kudos.
Very effective comparing the end of the episode to Back to the Future: a totally different mood and presentation here in Dark.
Been waiting for this. I watched 1 episode per week so i can watch your discussion. We have pretty similar taste but I have much less brain cells lol. I’m not gonna run thru this show and be clueless the whole time, I’d better you help me catch many details so i can experience this show to the fullest.
love how you felt surprised... can't wait for you to explore all the story behind dark
I'm a fan of Dark and a new subscriber! Love your reactions
It's gonna be fun to see you speculate and theorize about this
subbed !!!! was looking for more dark reactions( seen most of them ) because my favorite show of all time
man this show is going to give you a field day
Favorite show of all time, i look forward to your reactions.
Wow great reaction and really interesting talk. Hard to wait for more :)
be careful looking up ANYTHING AT ALL, you looked up martha's name, and that could have easily have exposed you to spoilers.
Source: it happened to me.
i would use the dark official guide website instead of google, you can tell it which episode you are at and it will hide all spoilers and present the facts as they are at the end of that episode
Oh I didn’t google her name, I know that would be way too risky, I looked up her name in the episode again. Don’t worry, I keep it airtight in terms of outside spoilers 🙂👌🏼
filmbuff is going to love this series you just know it
Ugh. It's so, so good.
Top 3 shows ever, for sure.
Subbed for Dark..best show ever!
you do a good job editing for copywrite but still showing enough of the highlights to follow the events ....new subscriber... looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the story
This dude looks like alternate timeline Fousey Tube if he was actually succesfull
I NEED THE EPISODE 3 😭
It’s up on Patreon!
As someone who didn't watch Dark fully im in the same boat as you😂 actually so good , its just a shame some characters.. i didn't like what they did and stuff
A very worthy show for a very worthy reactor
This is my favorite show
Who’s pridefc gloves are those? I have an autographed Shogun Rua pridefc glove
Nice, Shogun was one of faves.
The ones on the shelf are unsigned whitebolts. I have The official Pride Fedor Signed set sitting on the table in the background of the video.
Hi, I know that I'm very late to the party but I finally decided to watch Dark, and to watch Im's reactions after each episode (at the risk of spoiling myself, because I'm sure that Im's gonna figure out what's happening way before me). But I just watched 1x2 and I have a crazy theory that I want to put out there (just to be able to say "I knew it" if it turns out I'm right). So my theory is : Mikkel is in fact Michael! He never goes back to 2019, stays in this town and grow up there. I'm primarily basing it on the proximity of their first names : Mikkel/Michael (I'm not German, but I learnt German in highschool and as much as the other first names seem familiar German names to me, Mikkel sounds like a nickname, but maybe I'm completely wrong). And that would explain why Michael set his letter to be open at the exact date and time of Mikkel's disappearance: he would know when it happens, and doesn't want anyone to interfere whith it (nut want someone to know the truth when it's over?). And it would also explain why Michael seemed so calm/resigned when he took his life : as Mikkel, he knew it had to happen at this date.
My other crazy theory: the stranger is futur Jonas who's gone back to the present. I don't think it's older Mikkel, because then he would know "when" is Mikkel. And the transition from him to Jonas waking up, the fact that is investigation quite ressembles the panel In Michael's basement, leads me to think tere is a father/son connection between Michael and the stranger.
Also, it seems to me that the events taking place in what seems to be 2019 aren'tt shown in chronological order: we see the stranger arriving at the hotel and taking room n°8, but in episode 1 this room was already occupied, meaning that the arrival of the stranger happened before the evnts of episode 1 and the disappearance of Mikkel. So maybe the search party the stranger witnessed was for Erik? After that, the scenes with the stranger in his room show that he's been here for some time, and the newspaper clip on his board doesn't seem new, but is dated from 11/6, so I think the scenes are from some time in the future. Same goes for the scene in the nuclear power plant between Aleksander and Jürgen: Aleksander says that the police (I think?) will be here to search and that Jürgen has to get rid of "everything" tonight, but in the scenes at night after that, the police doesn't have a search warrrant yet and Jürgen is shown to be chilling in his trailer...
I’m late to the game - after 1899 I was curious. Thanks for the reviews!
Can't wait for more episodes
“Symbology” ok now you HAVE to react to Boondock Saints
this show will break your brain
This show is so perfect for you
Really enjoying this series
15:07 "the only person you truly know is yourself" in the context of this show is not true at all 😂
One way around it is
When is Mikkel?
Why is Mikkel?
Who is Mikkel?
What is Mikkel?
Im, you are a genius
Really hope someone’s watching these comments for you. Some random fcker might drop a spoiler.
All good, we go through them every day or so and Im always waits for an ok from one of the mods before diving into the comments :)

Subbed because Dark
Close - it's Helge, not Hegel.
I spend the last 30 minutes thinking about what I forgot about Hegel in the last 20 years. I still want to talk to an astrophysicist friend of mine about DARK and I really should do the same with some of their friends (students of German philosophy) who kept bringing up Hegel in basically every discsussion.
YESSSSS
I love your intro.
Basically you could put in a pin in everything.
8:15 Oh well... nice timestamp in case you watched LOST. So here we have the issue with the missing key in Geheimnisse/Secrets 1x01. If we were to believe that this room was the only one taken on Monday, Nov 4th then it is rather weird that Regina is giving the Stranger exactly that room.
Some people speculated that they just cleaned the room after the last tenant and therefore Regina gives him this room. Other people suspect that it is simply an error with the props department.
My personal theory is that the telephone scene was originally part of episode 2 and happened after the check in scene. They made sure that Regina wore a different blouse in those scenes when they changed that but forgot about the scene. It works great as an expositional scene for Regina but then again her financial issues work better in Lies than in Secrets because during the meeting at the school Katharina showed she knew the missing kids were detrimental to Regina's business (so it is less of a secret) but Regina denied this (with this scene revealing the lie).
10:26 As I said before. Very observant.
20:58 Well... I recently realized that I displaced all memory of my graduation ceremony and can only remember the pictures of the ceremony (basically making it seem like an out of body experience).
Memories are fiddly things.
21:53 I think you phrasing here is a bit off... because on one hand you said several times that you assume that time is a flat circle but then again when you use the present tense here makes it sound more like an alternate timeline. "There will be others that might meet or come across [Mikkel]." Since you are assuming deterministic time travel you could very well use the future perfect. "There will have been others who met and came across Mikkel."
Your phrasing does make it sound like you assume determinism on one hand but also assume that the 2019 events represent an unaltered timeline where the 1986 events represent an altered timeline. But that would be non-determinism.
I am not yet sure that I will not break into a wall of text going into the details of time travel theories.
Also what happened to the Vinland reaction
Pinned comment got updated a few days ago, Vinland's on Saturdays now so it should be up sometime in the next 12 hours if everything's fine.
@@Sephizen ah Alr, ty for the info!
I just noticed that he has the AoT colossal edition vol 1 in his shelf. I really hope he reads the entire manga once the adaptation is complete. The manga is much better. A bunch of content cut in the anime that takes away from characters like Mikasa, Levi, etc.
Regarding Ulrich's father, Tronte.
It's something that most people missed/get wrong the first time watching. I know I did... and it's something that every single reactor did as well.
But I'd have thought that _you_ would make the connection... especially given the fact that you talked just a minute earlier about the "red soil" on the dead boy, and how you would have "to be on the lookout for traces of red soil".
So... did Ulrich's father really have _blood_ on his sweater? Hm??
"symbology" isnt a word, you mean to say symbolism
Symbology is most definitely a word, it can mean either the study of symbols or a system of symbols
