- Unleashing Creativity: Abstract Photography with the Fuji XT5. This week we head out to an old tool company that is rotting away, to photograph some abstract compositions with the Fuji X-T5. This camera is small and light and with the Fuji XF 16-80 it's the perfect tool to find some abstract compositions.

I love these types of videos. Feels like I get to go on a little photography trip with you. Keep it up!
Thanks Andy more to come! Your favorite building.
Boy Kirk, you opened my eyes with those shots. I've stopped there in the past and shot around the corner near the backside of the building. Thank you so much. Great shots!!!👍👍
Late afternoon is best for the front.
Great video, Kirk! I really enjoy this type of photography and your photos are excellent.. This location is a treasure trove for abstract images.
Terry - It’s an awesome place for abstracts. They are all over the place and the sun angle changes how they look to make them even more different.
Always a joy to watch your video’s, and so peaceful. Nice orange tints.
Thanks Wil! Hope all is well with you and your family.
I took a picture at the San Francisco harbour of an old well weathered sign saying "TROUBLE" with several warped switches under it. It was a nice shot with interesting colours and so I printed and framed an hung it in my office but facing my back. Afterwards two coworkers from my team, who where always facing this picture from their desks were fired. A few month later I also left but on good terms and hung the Trouble-picture in my new office right in front of me. A few months later I was diagnosed with a serious desease. I recovered 100% but the picture went in the attic. Haunting, 😮
I can see that photo being an issue in an office.
@@KirkWilliamsonphotography Well, I know it is all superstition but I somehow felt like a character in a horror-movie. 😱
Thanks Kirk, you right, these places need some love. Ho and I'm happy to see a real photographer using the xf 16-80. Ok, it is not sharp (for me it's enough), it opens only at f4 but it's stabilized and the focal range is ideal to learn photography and video for a beginner like I was a few years ago... and like I am yet ! Happy to see you again, yours videos are so informative ... and peaceful !
Nothing wrong with the 16-80 I love mine and use it all the time.
Great shots Kirk, I am glad to see I am not the only one about pointing my camera at such things lol.
Ian - If I don't I get really bored with lobster buoys
You can keep all your Big Ben and Eiffel Tower tourist photos (even though I've taken thousands of them myself).
Give me peeling paint, patina and my favorite, rust and I'm happy. if I found a building like the one in this video, I'd never have that "there's nothing to shoot" problem.
Enjoyed this!
Same here. When I run out of ideas photographing the Motif this building hits the spot.
Nice one Kirk. One could make quite a project out of dilapidated buildings. You've given me some ideas on what I might be about to look for similarly here in San Francisco.
Steve - sounds like a good plan!
Awesome photos, thank you!
Many thanks!
Nice video for when I hit a lull and don’t know what to shoot (like lately). Thanks.
Same here stuck lately.
Great video! My favorite was the close up of the door or the half lost sign
That is my favorite too although I do like the shot up through the fiberglass siding.
Really enjoyed your video on abstract.
Used to sell Rockport Tools before they went out of business.
Thank you.
That’s way cool Russ!
Hi Kirk. I know I've said this before Love what you did with the Fuji. I sure would like to see you do it with your Leica MP 240 just to compare the colors and the contrast and overall look. Always enjoy your videos. Have a good one. See you on the next one. Cheers, my friend.
Mike you are right I have not been out with the MP 240 for some time and I need to do that. My favorite lens the 35 Summicron needs to be worked on so I have to use an older 28 that can be problematic at times. I do know one thing the Leica is a warmer sensor in raw than the more realistic Fuji but you are right I need to do some shots like this with the Leica.
Enjoyed the video Kirk , looking to upgrade to an xt5 . What season are you in ? We are just into Autumn here in the UK. Regards Tim.
Just starting into autumn here as well Tim. It’s a great camera.
Always enjoy your videos. What kind of strap are you using on that XT5? I have a hand strap now but looking for a skinny light weight one like that.
The XT5 strap is way to big for the camera. So I have about three rubber padded Leica straps that I converted into Peak design straps with their connectors.
