  • For the Veda-s to Purana-s, we see a great divergence in the forms and natures of many divinities such as Indra, Agnee, Vishnu, Shiva-Rudra, Shakti, Saraswati, and Lakshmi.
Devi Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, is described beautifully in the literary traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism alike.
These descriptions share some rather fascinating parallels with the description of Ushas: the most prominent female deity of the Rigveda.
On the pious occasion of Navaratri, Dr. Gauri Moghe enumerates the parallels between the two.
She also speaks about www.bharatvidya.in, the digital learning platform of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.
