If we’re up to me I would change a lot of things in the show. Starting with the name of the show. I would change to Mako merpeople and have more episodes in it. Mermen and mermaids would live together in pods. The four main characters would be Zac, Cam, and Eric. All episodes would focus more on them instead of the mermaids. Another change is that Eric is friends with Zac, Jason and Cam since they were kids in preschool and he’s a not merman until he falls into the moon pool with Zac and Cam. Eric also has parents. All three of them have girlfriends. Evie is still Zack’s girlfriend, Carly Morgan is Cam’s girlfriend and she can sing better than Sirena, Eric’s girlfriend would be a girl named Starla. Jason girl friend is an hot tall girl named Maia. Zac, Evie, Jason and Cam would sing great in this remake. Next, Rita wouldn’t the principal at their school but vice principal. The principal is a man named Ronan who turns out to be a merman who was born at sea and he’s from the same pod that Rita lived with. When Zac, Cam, Erik find out he’s a merman they blackmail him into training them on how to use their powers or they will tell everyone his secret at school. Throughout season one the boy’s powers get stronger and stronger then the mermaid’s powers. Rita’s house and grotto would be Ronan's house and grotto instead and Rita would live somewhere else. Ronan is the same age as Rita. Also for the those of you watched the season 1 episode 14 called “Battlelines”, I would do it a vice versa plot. You see Zac, Cam and Erik should be more like good guys in this series so instead of them trying to expose Rita it would be about Sirena, Lyla, and Nixie trying to expose Ronan when they find out he’s a merman and that he’s been helping the the boys. With his cover blown, Ronan tells the boys he must leave town before the mermaids expose him. The boys decide to fight back by using their powers to disrupt Nixie, Lyla and Sirena's lives and nearly expose them in front of every land person they met including David. The boys tell them that they will leave the girls alone if they leave Ronan alone. They agree, Cam steps on Nixie’s tail and Cam says “oops did I step on your tail?” the boys then leave. Ronan stays and thanks the boys for their help. When Rita finds out that the girls tried to expose Ronan, she tells them she's disappointed in them and says that they should never tried to have done it in the first place. She says even with Ronan as there enemies the existence of merpeople must be kept a secret. Zac, Cam, Erik and Jason would never try to expose Rita because they know that would draw attention to themselves too if other land people found out merpeople exist. There would be three tridents instead of one and none of them would ever be destroyed. Also the tridents wouldn’t destroy Mako even if they were taken to the moon pool. Also In season 1 I would have Zac, Cam, and Erik’s girlfriends fall into the moon pool and become mermaids. David, his brother and a friend of theirs who is a boy also fall into the moon pool and become mermen. I would add more villains to the series and call them dark merpeople and they would have black tails. I would also have more magic places on Mako.
You copied some off the things from the series you just need a different plot and a new twist btw you just changed places around because than merman’s would be the good ones and would make the girls mermaids evil and the merman’s would be like scared or won’t trust the girls mermaids and btw zack and evie won’t be dating because evie will already be a girl mermaid and lyla would be a human and she would be dating Zack than Lyla would turn to a girl mermaid because she fall in the moon light thing that merman’s meet at the island and than Lyla when it is full moon light night she would go to the island or were the moon light shows and lyla keeps going to that island since she is a girl mermaid and like she saw something powerful that the merman’s didn’t want the girls mermaids to find or get there hands on it
