They’re were plans for a second season of the show so that meant that Cyber Six did survive the explosion at the end of the finale. God only hope that this show will receive the Samurai Jack treatment and get at least one more season.
Can confirm this is true, Cathy told me about it when I asked her (saw her at a convention and got her autograph), and she told me was originally signed on for season two before what happened. So at least we can rest easy knowing narratively Cybersix made it out
Cybersix is such a special part of my childhood. I'd always tune in to watch it on Teletoon, and it was one of the few shows made for kids that seemed to have real stakes and more mature themes. I think it's an odd choice to adapt an adult comic for a child audience, but it's not like this is an unheard of phenomenon (Hunchback of Notre Dame). But I know a LOT of things had to be discreet in the cartoon. Her outfit was described as "kinky" in the show because she took it from a prostitute in the comics.
9:01 - 9:15 It still surprised me years later to find out that CyberSix's voice actress, Cathy Weseluk, also voiced a fan favorite of mine in anime, Near from DeathNote. My God, so underrated, having also voiced Spike on MLP: FIM, Snoozer on Hamtaro, Backup on Reboot, etc.
I remember it was a good show. I should watch it since it is easily available on various legal streaming services. There are lots of good series from this era and place (the wonderful world of Canadian animation and Canada-France co-productions).
They also used to schedule cyber 6 at weird times very early in the morning or very late in the afternoon, sometimes even at night. and in my area, they actually Cancel the series before the final episode.
How do you do an entire review of this series and not *once* mention that unbelievably kick-ass theme song? Hearing it on a different video is how I found the series and ultimately decided to check it out, and I'm really glad I did. It's a fun show that can be surprisingly mature at times, and I've always thought José was a pretty entertaining villain, like a cross between Montana Max and Invader Zim.
I remember watching this on teletoon in Canada as an eight year old and being instant hooked. I loved Cybersix so much. It was a formative show for me as a young girl. I grow up in a household with a sexist father that tried to force me into a traditional feminine box. He wanted a son and got stuck with me so he was damn well going to make sure I was a proper daughter. Dresses only. No big future aspirations because I was a woman. My place was in the house as a homemaker, wife and mother. I was even admonished for doing well in school if I out performed my male cousins. So... Yeah. Cybersix gave me a female role model of a capable, confident, intellgent woman. Cybersix let me see it was okay for women to move outside the gender norms, and later helped me accept my bisexuality as well. This show and comic doesn't get enough recognition. It was definitely ahead of its time and I love it so much. Thank you for covering it!!
I was 5 when this came out in 1999, and I didn’t see or even hear about it back then. I found out about in around 2016/2017 from Eye of Sol’s review on it. I sure do miss her reviews. Anyways, I’m kind of glad I saw it when I was older, because I was able to truly appreciate it. Little me would’ve probably liked it well enough, but not truly appreciated it. A revival without the constraints of kids TV, or at least the full opening song released, would be amazing!
I ended up checking out this show after Erod had it on a top 10 Hispanic characters list years ago, and I'm so glad I did. This show was so much fun to watch
😃😆YYYYYYEEEAAAHAHAHA!! Cybersix is a gem from my childhood that I treasure forever. It's such a shame it was limited to one season, because there was so much more that could've been done.
It's kind of amazing the show got made, period, especially with how they turned a very adult comic into a childrens saturday morning cartoon... and yet kept it loyal to the comic's story and concepts, if toned down in a lot of things. I'm glad that more people are aware of the series - thanks dude!
I get the opening song stuck in my head all the time. It's so beautiful. The only other tv show opening I get stuck in my head is the one from gargoyles. They give me goosebumps every time I hear them
I honestly tried to get into this series when i found it. The animation, the plot, and even that glorious opening theme were all just amazing but it didn't hook me at the time. One day it will
This show was golden! I loved watching it as a kid. It still brakes my heart that it didn't keep going out of all the shows I watched as a kid in Canada this one still is my all time fav. Me and my sister still talk about it along with all the other good 90s shows like reboot, code lyoko, Skyland etc.
Yeah, I have never even heard about this show from anybody. Having heard about it now though I am already sad that it only got such a limited run and little attention. This looks awesome!
It was brief, but it definitely left an impact. Another thing I think contributes to it being overlooked is that the source material hasn't had much standing either, even looking around online you're hard pressed to find even fan translations of the comics, let alone any official media. Always felt like a shame it went out leaving so much potential on the table.
My episode ranking: 1. Terra 2. Blue Birds of Horror 3. The Final Confrontation 4. The Eye 5. Daylight Devil 6. Yashimoto: Private Eye 7. The Mysterious Shadow 8. Data 7 & Julian 9. Brainwashed 10. Gone with the Winds 11. Full Moon Fascination 12. The Greatest Show in Meridiana 14. Lori is Missing
2:30 - 2:51 I'm still pissed at Cameron and Dark Angel for this outrage. Granted, I never saw Dark Angel growing up, so I can hardly judge the quality on an early Jessica Alba project, but the fact that it stole from CyberSix and got away with it just frustrates me to my core. I shall always think fondly on Aliens, Terminator 2, Titanic and True Lies, but I can't forgive this, Cameron. Like Salieri to God in Amadeus, "I shall block Dark Angel, as well as any future Avatar movies, Cameron, because you are unjust, unfair, and unkind. Because you choose flicks that repeat and rehash Dances with Wolves & Ferngully cliches, to flaunt your visual effects and directing style rather than Spider-Man & Alita: Battle Angel. *🙍🙇From now on, Cameron, we are enemies, you and I.* "
It's amazing to look back at this show to know that when it first aired, _absolutely no one_ raised a stink about a show whose protagonist was essentially genderfluid. It would've been a much different (and tragic) story if this came out within the last decade. I saw the initial airings of this show on Teletoon and was gobsmacked that the episodes aired what felt like almost a full year earlier than the US (only Fox channel I had growing up was whatever the affiliate station was for Rochester, NY). I know Erod said the show was regarded as anime, but it never felt that way to me.

Do you know what season two what's going to be like

You're actually right about Cybersix's outfit. They're the first clothes she stole. She stole them from a prostitute.
I really hope The Legend of Calamity Jane gets the kind of love and notice that this show is starting to get.
I loved that cartoon...
That shows on for only one season and I saw only one episode. I would honestly love to learn more about it
OH MY GOSH SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS THIS SHOW???
I remember it was a good show. I should watch it since it is easily available on various legal streaming services.
There are lots of good series from this era and place (the wonderful world of Canadian animation and Canada-France co-productions).
I think I saw like one episode in an early morning slot and it just disappeared. Which I didn't like because it looked cool.
I wouldn't mind giving this series a decent reboot, with a plot that follows closer to the comics. But not too close that it becomes R-rated.
FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this since your Top 10 Hispanic Heroes!!!! I found the series on RUclips and watched what I could, I loved it!
They also used to schedule cyber 6 at weird times very early in the morning or very late in the afternoon, sometimes even at night. and in my area, they actually Cancel the series before the final episode.

I really hope this gets more attention. Or even a new series.

I Will loved to see a Reboot/Revival of CyberSix to Continue for New Seasons Same thing with Clone High.

😃😆YYYYYYEEEAAAHAHAHA!! Cybersix is a gem from my childhood that I treasure forever. It's such a shame it was limited to one season, because there was so much more that could've been done.
The comic book is very adult
It's kind of amazing the show got made, period, especially with how they turned a very adult comic into a childrens saturday morning cartoon... and yet kept it loyal to the comic's story and concepts, if toned down in a lot of things. I'm glad that more people are aware of the series - thanks dude!
My childhood show

I think in the comics it tell you why he put data 7 brain in a panther.
I honestly tried to get into this series when i found it. The animation, the plot, and even that glorious opening theme were all just amazing but it didn't hook me at the time. One day it will
Had never heard of this series until you mentioned it in a previous video, hunted down the episodes and yes, this is definitely an overlooked gem!
This show was great. The intro lived in my head for years
Glad to see that more people are talking about this series.
It is so beautiful to see you once again, the legendary leader of the Legion of BadAsstitude, long live ERod
Very much looking forward to this.
I'm still waiting on Exosquad.
Man Cathy Wesluck....love her voice
I never heard of this show before you discussed it in your videos Erod! Can’t wait to watch it all the way through

This show came out around the same time as another cartoon called Cyber-9 so I was confused thinking they were related somehow
Damn thought this was a fever dream I had about this show
Cybersix will be in our hearts forever.
Really enjoyed this show when it was first airing.
Id like to add that the two original creators sadly passed away so how would the series come back in any shape or form? Who owns the rights?
It was brief, but it definitely left an impact. My episode ranking:
1. Terra
2. Blue Birds of Horror
3. The Final Confrontation
4. The Eye
5. Daylight Devil
6. Yashimoto: Private Eye
7. The Mysterious Shadow
8. Data 7 & Julian
9. Brainwashed
10. Gone with the Winds
11. Full Moon Fascination
12. The Greatest Show in Meridiana
14. Lori is Missing
This is gonna be exciting
Loved your review. Great job! Keep it up bro! I loved this show growing up… from Canada 😅
4:20 no, definitely got some anime voice acting going on.
2:30 - 2:51 I'm still pissed at Cameron and Dark Angel for this outrage. Well this sure blew the dust off an ancient synapse in my brain
Cybersix looks like Zorro and Count Dracula mixed styles and she is what came out. Really no way one can go wrong with that design.
As a Canadian, I will silently give the US the side eye.
As a fan to your show and DC fan myself. I wonder what you think about the new Superman animated series?
Hell YES!!
I wish more Canadian shows were actively spoken about in a positive way
i'm guessing this is because of the Blu-Ray announcement by Discotek Media, Erod?
data seven was always my favorite char, though I'm a bit biased hehe :>
Amazing music as well
Any plans for your review of The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, or Cadillacs and Dinosaurs ?
Intresting
Reminds me of the Ghostbuster cartoon.
I'm still sad that they never made another season. I heard a rummer that they are remaking it.
It is a crime seeing such passioned series only making it half-way through their plot (if even).
Hey ERod, what’s your opinion on the upcoming Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong comic series coming in October?
Vastly under-rated gem
I do like the P.I. Character but I don’t like his design as it pushes too close to the designs for Asians from the thirties and forties.

I know Erod said the show was regarded as anime, but it never felt that way to me.
I've never actually seen Cybersix, but I've seen it around and having some more information makes me really interested in seeing it now. ^_^
I'm pretty sure Lucas also had a crush on the Adrian identity. This show was pretty ahead with having bisexual and genderfluid protagonists
