Yeah, same. Ironically I found this video right after I purchased mine. Didn't know you did pre buy inspections, just got mine in so cal, was right near your shop too lol. Fortunately I checked most of the things you showed here and it was all okay, no major rust issues anywhere, engine was new and most of the components underneath were new. Still has the original paint job. Though the wiring inside for the stuff they've done leaves a lot to be desired, will be redoing that. Thanks for this video, makes me feel a lot more confident in my purchase! Drove it to Texas, only issue I ran into was trying to start it when I stopped in Gallup NM, it dropped to 10 degrees over night.
I love your videos very informative and not afraid to point out problem areas. Your lnput about add on wiring is spot on!!! I've seen and repaired many of them(a friend had a 65 GT fast back Mustang , that had poorly dash done (very hacked) wire harness, did set itself on fire), but I had to replace. One thing I do, I have all of speciality tools(including ones for GM weatherpack plugs), and buy specialty plugs and shrink tubing bulk. Also I've seen the black tape on the gauge trick (lol, jerks). Keep up the great work on these fantasic vehicles!!! They are fun, but do need the proper attention!!
Damn that’s a helpful video. Could you release a price guide video? I’m shopping for an H1 right now and curious what you think good price points are for different years, conditions, duramax conversion, etc
Could you guys address the cylinder 8 issues on specific engine models? What to look for and typically cost for replacement or how to avoid it all together?
Okay... I know on the last vehicle I watched about the copperhead, thought it was the perfect vehicle with a few changes I suggested..... now, after watching this... the Copperhead in the Station wagon configuration is even better. Exoskeleton rails around the back for spare tire. All my gear would fit perfect in the back, also lockable. The back should be rhino lined with indoor/outdoor carpet over the top.
Awesome video, I live in SoCal and i have an H2. I am going to trade it in but I don't know if I want a newer H2 or an H1 yet. Can you do a pure inspection video like this one for an H2 ? Also, once I do decide what to get if I look at the car and see some issues I will definitely pay you to go out and look at it if I really want the car.
Back in 1994 or 1995 I was going to Tampa, and I stopped at a dealership that was in or near Tampa that was selling new Hummer's, and I looked at one just like this one, I thought the prices were around $65k. but they wanted just over $100k. I think it was $105.000. And I was like, Thank you, I hope you have a nice weekend, and I left! lol.
100%! Great engines. A bit under powered but still good. They have an inherent failure point that could pop up with the #7 and #8 cylinder cracking. That said it typically happens above 100k miles a day honestly it's a very low percentage. 👍
All this amounts to the garage making thousands of dollars on labor and only a couple hundred dollars worth of parts. Do it yourself and save thousands!
Lots of buyers for high end rigs/ any toys for that matter like this don’t have time or the will and tools/skill to repair these little things. They rather walk Into a place like this or sometime don’t even go in they just call and ship it back and forth, and say “fix it right now” and move on with what ever they do that makes them enough money to splurge on wants like this.
I wish I had seen this before I got my H1. Can't stress the value of this video enough.
Thanks Isaac! Much appreciated! Still missing a few key points but hopefully it helps people out. Thanks again!!!

Dont forget door hinges for rust. And fuel and water pumps. Hoses belts. Pitman arm, bushings often need replacement etc. Thanks great video
Such great addvice truly wish you did this years ago. This will save you lots of money if you listen to these very wise words.

Do yourself a favor Sean. Ditch the Blazer (H2) and buy a real Hummer!
surprisingly, many videos dont have details of the rear suspension, or the 'inner' brake. Just do a search...
Could do one of these videos on the H2?
