Further tip for diagnosing the battery drain Simon, get yrself a combo Clamp Meter/Multimeter, no disconnection of anything required then, just put the clamp over either the pos or neg battery cable and it will give a reading of the amp flow coming out of the battery.
OMG What a mad time you guys had at Lucky Bay! Great company to boot and that Tuna dinner turned out amazing. Well done Simon, Liz and Co. Happy belated birthday Simon. Cheers, Daniel & Preeti🎉
The joys of being on the road…always something to tend to…great spot though, one of my favourites. Another great video…looking forward to our next big adventure.
Very enjoyable! It’s great to see the highs and the lows. It’s often the things you have to overcome that become the memorable stories and laughs of the future! Looking forward to the new series on WA camps.
Stunning place to unplug and be present with family and friends! Hope you’ve sorted the battery drain. It’s not a great feeling when you’re far from help. Been there and thank god for mates that are with you to help.
Awesome video on a fantastic spot, can't wait to watch the videos about the beach camping over there it will give me some ideas of where to visit when we come over in about a month. Have you looked at putting a battery monitor on the crusier and you could run a solar panel on the roof or a portable panel that put a charge to the crusier while parked up . Happy Birthday Simon and Happy mother's day Liz, great to see you take time out for yourselves to have a well deserved rest, so then you can keep making wonderful content for all of us to watch.🍻🍹
Thanks, Craig. Our first campground guide video was released earlier this week, showing how to get onto the beach at Lucky Bay. We've thought about putting a solar panel on the roof rack but it would take up valuable real estete. We're still considering it though.
Hey Guys, love your channel, been watching you guys since the episodes on What's up down under and love your content! absolutely love the new series on West coast and beach access as we are doing the west in 2026 and as you said not lots of info on this! Keep up the great work guys and say Giday to Andrew from Accelerate next time you see him; he did a huge battery upgrade on our van two years ago and we found him to be a great and very knowledgeable guy! We wouldn't use anyone else. Cheers, Pete & Jane
Hey mate, thanks for the vid. Looking forward to the campsite vids that are coming out. In those vids can you also give some guidance on booking and how far in advance you would recommend. It’s only a snap shot in time I know, and it can vary but any info is appreciated. Keep up the great content. Thx Jason
Hope you had a great afternoon at the brewery - Happy Birthday 🥳 Simon! That tuna looked seriously delicious & to share it around, how fabulous. Glad you had downtime during your 2.5weeks, what a spot & to be with friends. Is it dog friendly? Look forward to the series, will be invaluable. Have a great week.
Excellent video guys, I really appreciate the information in regards to the battery, I had a similar problems years ago and took me nearly 4 days to sort it out. Please keep doing the things that make you happy, you are a beautiful family and I like to wish you all the best, you inspire me to keep going,,,thanks for sharing.
Absolute paradise. It just shows you don't have to go fishing to have fish. Lol. I've had a throttle controller on our last two utes. They certainly deliver the power a lot quicker. We have a lot of steep winding roads here in NZ & it works well. Does the sand play havoc by getting into your brakes & suspension? I don't envy you doing a big clean after all that sand. But, hey, look at where you were staying. Bloody magic. 😊
Hi Simon & Liz, Looking forward to the beach camping video series. We’re at Kalbarri at the moment and but I assume you would be through there already. We’re heading to Murchison Station for a few days tomorrow. Safe travels and looking forward to the vids.
For myself the rooftop solar is connected to the crank battery that overflows to the second battery when the voltage reaches the cut in level via the dc charger. It’s not much but keeps the crank battery full. The dc charger delivers full charge to the second battery when driving
Hi Guys. Have been enjoying following your adventures since finding your channel a few weeks ago. Just a suggestion for the battery situation. I have my input from the start battery and output from Enerdrive dc to dc converter go through Anderson plugs. If I get a flat start battery I can reverse the plugs and charge the start battery from the battery bank and solar. Happy travels.
@@TheLifestylePioneers Hi Guys. Thanks for the reply. You dont need the ignition sense wire when the charging battery is above 13.2V. "When the battery is charging through CH3 with normal operation (not through Ignition or override setting), the charger will charge for 3 minutes, it will then rest for 5 seconds to verify the Input voltage. During the 5 seconds rest period, if the measured voltage is >12.8Vdc on a 12V System (>25.6Vdc on a 24V system), the unit will continue the charging cycle through CH3." I do need to adjust the program from lithium to flooded battery though and it still charges via my solar array also. Hope this helps.
.i built my own genrator for my van, it is a really small honder motor direct conected to a 12v alternator so it will charge the car or van battery at 55ah so it is like running the motor at quite high revs so if my alternator in the car or the battery doesn't work i connect it up and drive
Hey, always enjoy your vids and so goid that your doing the camping sites in the future ones as well! Can you also include exactly how far ahead that we woukd need to book these sites as well please? Thx again team, phil
WTF! Electric shocks! It's as though you want to set yourself up for these problems by fitting useless gadgets! I always park so the front can be accessed just in case.. Get a ECU remap and save your money....
Further tip for diagnosing the battery drain Simon, get yrself a combo Clamp Meter/Multimeter, no disconnection of anything required then, just put the clamp over either the pos or neg battery cable and it will give a reading of the amp flow coming out of the battery.
Sounds good!

Yes! Thank you! First of the camps videos came out earlier this week!
Love to hear the kids have their say at the end. Great video.
Thanks!

It's out now!
Happy Birthday Simon and Happy Mother’s Day Liz. What a cracker of a beach.
Cheers! It's a great spot.

Well that was fun to watch (except for you the car anxiety) . Happy birthday Simon.🎉
Thanks, mate.

The first one is out now! Thanks mate, will do.
Excellent information you have provided here. Thank you so much. This may come in very handy to know at some time.......but hopefully not. :)
So nice of you

It was! Yeah, it's dog friendly. The new camp ground video is out now!

Couldn't agree more! We haven't had any issues with sand but the salt spray can create some challenges.
Great tip on power draw diagnosis 👍
Cheers.
Hi Simon & Liz,
Looking forward to the beach camping video series.
We’re at Kalbarri at the moment and but I assume you would be through there already. We’re heading to Murchison Station for a few days tomorrow. Safe travels and looking forward to the vids.
Sounds great! Enjoy MHS, it's great there. Hopefully the flies aren't too bad.

Nice one, sounds like a good system.
Hi Guys another great video I'm envious from cold tasi could you let me know what phone holders you use off your windscreen
Thanks, John. We got the phone holders from BreakfreeRV, they're by Scanstrut 👍
Happy late birthday Simon i hope you had a great day all the best Ron
Thanks, Ron
I've got a DCDC Charger for solar, plus duel batteries for this reason, plus the water cooled alternator.
We do as well but it charges the aux battery not the start battery
Just have a question with beach camping, do you let your grey water run onto the sand??
Yeah, absolutely.
Can you include the experience of booking the locations as well
Yep, will do! The first one is out now!
Great vid guys. Simon I’m keen to hear about what you find out about the JMACX electric shocks controller. I have the same kit in my 76! 😁
They now recommend wiring to ignition power and it's no issue to change it.
@@TheLifestylePioneers Thanks Simon. Might change mine too!
So good. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Simon I am wondering why you chose a manual car when you are towing a van so often?
Honestly, I just love them. I like the additional engine braking it provides and not having to worry about transmission heat.

Interesting. Not sure how that would work with alternator sensing in the DCDC

That's interesting. What's the advantage over buying a generator?
@@TheLifestylePioneers i always built things rather than buy usually cheaper and the pleasure of the build

Sure thing! Thanks mate
The desalinator would of payed for itself during the 21/2 weeks at the beach
It was pretty handy!
Andrew from Accelerate Offgrid Touring is GOD when it comes to 12V stuff.... !!!! Say hi to Andrew and Briohny from us...!
I'm not pumping him up that much 😂 Will do.
You’ve probably worked it out by now but maybe put that circuit on your auxiliary battery.
That's an option, although it's a bit more re-wiring.
Jmaxc controller should have been wired to ign feed on the right hand side of the engine bay
That's what we're going to do now. Jmacx now recommend that.
Well what do you expect when your parked up on a beach?
Of course there will be sand all over everywhere
Yeah, for sure. It's not always sunshine and rainbows
Too help save you battery if you have an unknown draw just disconnect the earth cable till you find what the problem was
It was a little too late this time 😂🤦
Happy birthday 🍺
Cheers

I love nerding out on new tech, it's a lot of fun to play around with and actually makes a big difference to the ride.
