I know it's kinda weird, but some of us old guys go on SLOW rides where we stop a lot, smoke cigars, and shoot the bull. Hopefully you will get old enough to do that too, cause it is fun.
Installed Oxford heated grips on mine, they work great. Install is fairly straightforward except you have to remove the flange from the throttle side plastic twist grip. I removed the throttle sleeve by removing the tank and getting enough slack at the throttle body end to get the cables off and turned the flange down with the hard plastic grip chucked up in a lathe. Could be done with a Dremel tool as well I suppose without removing the throttle sleeve from the bike. The wiring is very easy, straight to the battery, very well made product.
Did he just say an ashtray??? An ashtray on a motorbike?? Is he fckn high?? ARE YOU MENTAL. Speking Japanese to suzuki?? WOW!!!!! You really need to stay off the crack mate
Your Japanese is pretty good!I'm very glad to see people from abroad is interested in Japan.I'm going to buy GSX1250FA(called bandit1250f in Japan)maybe in August,I can't wait...!!This is my first time to own such a big motorcycle but I heard this bike is kind to any riders.Have a good motorcycle life!Arigato!!
Yes, this is definitely a very forgiving bike if you are easy on the throttle...too much, though, and you may find yourself riding on one wheel. I absolutely love Japanese vehicles, cars and bikes alike, and especially SUVs...I have a Toyota 4Runner that I have converted to a Japanese market Hilux Surf, and I love other vehicles that never came to the US like the Land Cruiser Prado and the diesel Land Cruisers. Thank you for watching!
Yup. A biggie for me would be the touring windscreen (I solved it as you did; okay but not ideal) and some kind of protection in the event of a drop. Those fairings are vulnerable and pricey.
I have one of these bikes, it's pretty close to what I was looking for to replace my 1996 Trophy 900. I don't think the bike needs to be an Electroglide and that's not what I wanted but I agree with a couple things here. Heated grips can be added, I put them on all my bikes, not too hard to do. I wouldn't mind some little lockable compartments in the fairing, my Trophy had these, very useful but I can live without them. If they are going to market the bike as a sport tourer it would be nice to have easily removable bags that came with the bike. The bags for the bike are decent but to make them easily removable you need the quick remove mounts from Twisted Throttle, again, fixable but a sport tourer should be designed for quick-detach bags with an integrated mounting system. The big problem for me is the lack of a straight, tall, optional touring windshield. Suzuki doesn't make one and none of the currently available aftermarket options really fit the bill.....that's the biggest problem for me. I like the bike and will eventually be able to get it where I want with aftermarket parts if somebody will design and sell a proper windshield. The price on the bike was right because dealers are stuck with these bikes and they don't sell well in the US. Nowadays, unless you want an adventure style bike there is much available in an affordable sport tourer between crotch rockets and expensive shaft drive bikes loaded with gizmos. This is a good (but old tech) all around motorcycle with a great engine for the money.
Hi- I investigated using an MRA X-screen with the GIVI - a user posted on one of the Suzuki forums that this combination was unstable. The Wunderlich works great except you need to adapt it to fit over the lip around the GIVI. I ended up using 3M double sided body tape and doubling it up to make it thicker. I took my machine up to 125MPH and found no issues. It is not a perfect solution, but pretty close. Thanks for watching our videos! Suzuki in Europe has a taller screen with X-screen!
To be honest: Some of your suggestions are kinda weird. Maybe you should drive a convertible instead of a motorcycle? Drinking & smoking on a bike always is a bad idea, no matter how fast (or slow) you go. Your windscreen already IS damn high. I didn't even know that there are windscreens THAT big available. And the cupholders? Seriously? ;) Heated grips, heated suit, crashbars all over.. The GSX-F-models are and always were sport-touring-bikes. If you want the comfort of a full-size-touring machine you probably should get one like the R1200RT or the K1600GT or a GoldWing. Maybe a mix of those: a Yamaha FJR1300. It doesn't really sound like you are happy with what you have. just my 2 cents.
Actually, I love the bike, and have 2 of them. One of them is purely for sport use, but the other I use for long distance riding. I especially like the fact that is is fairly light, fast as hell, and very quiet. I am old, so I like to wear heated jacket and gloves. I work nights and it is typically in the low 30s when I get off work, so I plug in my heated suit, and bingo, I'm warm. The ashtray was more of a joke than anything, I just meant a small compartment of some sort, though I do sometimes smoke while I am riding. I did add a cupholder, and I use it all the time for my daily Starbucks cappuccino. And I really like the fact that I got one of them with bags for 9k brand new.
redonKiLaus There was no offense in my post but for a "younger" guy like me (close to my thirties) some of your improvement-ideas sound kinda weird. :) As long as you find a way to be happy with your bike (which I think, otherwise you would not have bought 2 of them) everything's fine.
I have the 650 version and I have ridden the 1250 model, mmm I don't think the bike needs a bigger engine, the 1250 has plenty of power in my humble opinion. I have just fitted oxford heated grips to my bike, they do make a difference on these cold winter days, £58 well spent I think :)
I agree the screen on these bikes is woefully inadequate. I have tried many versions from a MRA vario screen to a Madstad screen. The MRA was not much better than the original The Madstad works very well but looks over engineered and somewhat ugly. Form over function I guess. I have been thinking of using a GIVI with an MRA X screen attached to see how that goes. I noticed you have stopped using your X screen. Love your videos by the way.
Mr. rendonKiLaus, Quick question. So, can you go only 15mm or 35mm with the risers without changing the lines? There's a discrepancy with this video and the other video you posted while installing the risers. In the other video while installing 15mm risers you said that was the maximum height allowed without changing the lines. So is it 15mm or 35mm? Thanks in advance.
The Sargent seat is a slight improvement over stock. To be honest, the stock seat is pretty decent. Do you know what model Oxford grips you have and how did you wire them in?
It's mounted with some adapting brackets - I have some videos on my channel showing what I used, so you can check those out for additional information. Thanks for watching!
Iam Grateful for your generosity sharing your knowledge and experience, I do have a GSF 1250 SA 2016 and want a more up right position Iam 5-06 but the factory settings force a bit inclined; I also like the LSL products, what size of Risers do yo recommend without disturbing cables? Thanks.
Good video, the drinks holder and ash tray aren't for British riders. Where did you get the leather tank cover and the seat from? I ride a GSX 1250cc Fa. I commute 100 miles per day even in the British winter. Buying a new screen is next on my list.
+Ginge Taylor The tank cover is genuine Suzuki, but I got it from a dealer over here in the US so I don't know if it's offered in the UK - best bet would be to contact your Suzuki dealer to find out. Thanks for watching!
I believe they were OEM Suzuki hand guards from another bike - I have a video on installing them on my channel that should have the info you're looking for. Thanks for watching!
Hello sir. Thanks for your video. Could you tell me how cleans his motorcycle? I just bought one just like yours and I'm afraid to grate plastic and deposit. Thank you!.
vidafugazz It is just washed using automotive car wash soap and waxed regularly on the glossy painted surfaces, with matte surfaces getting spray wax and plastics receiving plastic protectant. Thanks for watching!
I wanted to get a better sound and save some weight so I got a Delklevic SS 18 inch muffler. The pipe is much lighter and smaller, well made and looks great but unfortunately it angles up enough to interfere with the factory hard side luggage so I can't use it. Delklevic doesn't mention this on their web site. Checking with them for a solution but since I installed it with sealer and then removed it I may not be able to send it back. I didn't have a battery in the bike yet so I never even got to hear how it sounded :( If you use the luggage and are considering an aftermarket silencer keep this in mind.
I am not that young (not old neither), 35y to be precise. It was just kind of weird for me that someone might need an ashtray on motorcykle. See ya on the road.
hi! i'm searching a fuel tank protection like this (a half protection, not full) but in Europe i'ts very difficult to find. Maybe you have an US internet site where i can find this? Thank you and sorry for my bad english...
gab par I found this one on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Suzuki-GSX-GSF-TANK-COVER/dp/B0013BBK0E The website that I bought my covers from no longer stocks them, so they may be discontinued. Thanks for watching, and good luck!
Sounds like you bought the wrong bike. Your asking for a R1200RT or something of that caliber. You get what you pay for. You bought a cheaper sport touring bike because you wanted to save money. When you save money you don't get the accessories your asking for. If you bought the bike because you like the ride then stop complaining about the lack of accessories.
The bags look pretty good on the bike, but waaaaaayyyyy to far back. What's with the bike manufacturers? They make the rear end of the bike stick out 5 feet. The Suzuki B King was a notorious bike which is good looking, but looked like it was carrying a ladder from the seat towards the back. MASSIVE rear end...
Ashtray and Bottle Holder..... lol. You Yanks make me laugh with stuff like that. That said, I really love your country and US people. I'm a Brit by the way (the colonial masters). Ride safe my American / Swede Cousin.
I personally wouldn't purchase the bike if it had all of your suggestions but I like what you did in this video, definitely an improvement.
sounds like you bought the wrong bike a goldwing would most likely suit
I was thinking the same thing.
I smoke cigars sometimes and have no place to stick them when I am riding.
Nice work on the bike looks fantastic!! thanks for the Ideas.
I know it's kinda weird, but some of us old guys go on SLOW rides where we stop a lot, smoke cigars, and shoot the bull. Hopefully you will get old enough to do that too, cause it is fun.

Yup. A biggie for me would be the touring windscreen (I solved it as you did; okay but not ideal) and some kind of protection in the event of a drop. Those fairings are vulnerable and pricey.
Hi- Goldwing is too high and too heavy. Suzuki = less than 12K; Goldwing = less than 28K. Suzuki is THE BEAST - king of my jungle - love it!
Sell the bike and get a station wagon my friend

AN ash tray;)
That’s a good one.
Am with ya on the protection around it, I dropped mine recently and scratched my fairing 😔 not sure bout the ashtray though 😁
Sorry to hear about the drop and fairing. Good news is it's repairable or replaceable! Thanks for watching!

Where i can buy this highway pegs. I want this on my gsf1250 too.
My fa has heated grips from Oxford heated grips is the Sargent seat worth the money £360 plus in UK so not cheap !
Hi, thanks for the great videos. Can you sho me how to get the highway foot pegs installed and where to get the lol brackets? Thanks 😊
Unfortunately I don't have any of that info anymore since I sold these bikes years ago. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching!

I ran 15mm LSL risers on this bike, and they maxed out the cables and lines without requiring new ones. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

love that tank cover. who makes that?
That is an original Suzuki part/accessory. Thanks for watching!
