    Been running my 30002 FiTech for 3 years now on my daily driver and I absolutely love it. No issues whatsoever.

    The hiss you're hearing is the sound of a fairly open idle air control valve. Once the valve shuts, the hiss goes away. My MSD atomic EFI does the same thing. Totally normal!

    • @Elucidus
      @Elucidus 8 лет назад +1

      +Rye Bread Yes, the IAC is used for fast idle purposes as well as to maintain curb idle when load is increased(such as when then engine fans or AC is engaged). It also comes into play for anti-stall and other reasons.

      i may be running fitech on a weiand 174 set up on a 302, that way i can save some pennies and skip dyno tunning. and have a plug and play set up, roots style supercharger and efi still. cant wait!

    • @Elucidus
      @Elucidus 8 лет назад

      +Rye Bread Sounds like fun. I'm running Atomic EFI on a 400ci small block. The biggest improvement vs my carbed setup was in the low and mid-range. Didn't notice much of anything on the top-end, but my QuadraJet was set up pretty well..
      You'll still need to figure out where the best fuel and timing curves are for power, but if you have the FiTech controlling fueling and timing things will go a LOT faster - no need to open the carb or play with advance bushings/springs/weights/limiters.
      Good luck.

    Thinking of buying this system for my 79 c10. I would like to install the hand held in the ashtray. I am wondering if the hand held has to be turned on each time I drive the truck.

      No. You don't even need it.
      I just use it for gauges. You could use it for setup. Unplug it. And never touch it again

    I know I'm late to the party but I'm looking at the fitech tbi unit and I've got a few questions about your engine.
    Do you have anything done to the engine or is it stock. I noticed the perimeter bolt valvecovers so i know the heads aren't factory TBI and probably the whole engine. Is it an otherwise stock 350 engine?
    I've got a mild 350 with a set of trick flow heads and a comp 252xfi roller cam. 252/264 advertised, 202/212 @ .050, .550"/.546" lift. It's got a nice wide 113 LSA so the vacuum signal should be stable for self-learning fuel injection. I'm running a Performer Air-Gap dual plane intake with a 650 Holley. Long tube headers and y pipe to single 3" open exhaust.
    I'm mostly just checking on driveability of these things with dual plane intakes. I built my truck to have monster torque so i don't want to go to a single plane for the best fuel distribution.
    Do you think i should go port injection like you or go with TBI?

    • @jacobdavis1979
      @jacobdavis1979  6 лет назад +1

      Eric Ernst It's completely up to you what you want to do.
      No this engine isn't stock. It's actually a GoodWrench crate engine. It's been almost 10 years since I've done it so I don't remember specs of all the stuff I changed. It's around the 220ish area of duration @50. Intake is an Edelbrock dual plane. Fitech fed this engine wonderfully. Fitech is nice but don't be afraid to look at a Holley Sniper either. Sniper has much higher resolution VE and spark tables as opposed to Fitech that interpolates and extrapolates everything between cells.
      Get whatever you feel most comfortable with.

    This may sound stupid, but I dont see any extra injectors.
    I'm going to be swapping the GoStreet 400HP system onto my tbi 454 and on the FiTech site, they have a intake that will work but it appears to need injectors and rails. Are there injectors inside of the FiTech throttlebody somewhere?

      Taylor Blanchard the stock fuel pump for these trucks is tied to the factory ecm. It turns off the fuel pump when it sees no oil pressure. It's a good safeguard. I'm going to keep that setup when i go fitech from my holley 650 carb. The oil pressure sending unit is on top of the block behind the intake manifold. It's about as big around as a big thumb and maybe 4 inches long.

    you were lucky to get one that worked. I had two with issues right out of the box. I spent 2,000 bucks trying to get their junk to work. the fuel comand center failed and puked fuel after 2 hours of use, killed the car and left me sitting on the side of the road. I had enough all the fitech junk went on ebay. Went back to Holley, runs great. fitech made no effort to refund any money. Instead they offered a replacement to sell on ebay. F means something in fitech, I let you decide the word I mean....

      I'm sorry to hear about your experience.
      I help run a group called Fitech Owners Group on Facebook. Ever need help you're welcome to join.
      I've heard alot of issues from the units and we've been lucky enough to help get several others back up and running.

    • @SDRennies
      @SDRennies 7 лет назад

      Malibu Jak I am no longer a fitech owner as they couldn't get their product to work on my car. I had $3600 into a $1600 plug and play system. So I sold all the stuff and moved on to trying to let everyone know their product isn't really as cheap and easy as they make it sound. I would also hate to have anyone fall into the same trap I did. I bought a power adder unit for a supercharger to get away from the heat and tuning issues of a carb, only to not being able to even drive my car without a tow.....

    • @jacobdavis1979
      @jacobdavis1979  7 лет назад

      I understand. Not everyone has the same luck as everyone else.
      Out of the current 400 owners in the group with tech questions. 99% of the issues the team have dealt with have been tuning issues. Which will come with any Efi system really. But that other 1% have been failing Ecus, harnesses and what not.
      May be that's why I've been so lucky to get my own and several others back on the road because I know basic Efi terminology and such. But Fitech really needs to improve on marketing the product because they've lead people to believe this is a bolt on and go system. When no Efi system truly is.
      Once again I apologize for your experience.

    • @SDRennies
      @SDRennies 7 лет назад +1

      No apologies needed. I was told they test every unit before it goes out the door, but I received 2 units with faults. Really, I must have the worst luck ever. What's next lightning? Cody from Fitech had me replacing wires, looking for leaks, replaced ignitions from a 6t to a 6al. Finally I just took the unit off and put my carb back off. The operation manager Mark Ward at Fitech said he would send me a unopened unit and I could sell it to reduce my loss. It sounds to me really shady. They know they have a issue but don't offer refunds or fix the miss marketing of this not plug and play model. It still irritates me when they told me "it works on our test motor and not on yours" then on their own test it was a bad ecu. How is that possible if they truly test every unit?

    • @jacobdavis1979
      @jacobdavis1979  7 лет назад

      I know I've heard that also.
      I've talked to Cody a few times and he seems to be the only one truly willing to help. It's a shame. Everyone else there just seems more interested in publicity and selling the product.

    • @robertbryant7771
      @robertbryant7771 3 года назад

      Been a long time, you may not ever see this... you could let the original ECM control timing and knock retard and TCC on/off at the 4 pin on the trans. Could also keep VSS input to the DRAC module for the speedometer. Virtually everything else is out the window. I’m running a EP381 pump at 23psi with vacuum reference on my TBI managed by EBL. Wideband VE learns are the way to go. Just datalog it and let it learn VE from playing those back.

      TalibanSlayer. depends, I know 94 4l60e needs wheel speed, tach, and throttle position. summit has an adapter for the TPS to go to the factory computer TPS wires. use it to not void the warranty with Fitech. the tach is easy to find, you have a tach wire.wheel speed is already connected to your stock computer.

    • @jacobdavis1979
      @jacobdavis1979  7 лет назад +2

      Edgar Cortez If it's just a bone stock build you're working with I would just leave your factory TBI where it is.
      But if you do go Fitech, my biggest piece of advice is don't use their Fuel command center. Use a nice inline or in tank pump like the Walbro 255 or one that meets your goals.
      As for timing control I could care less about that also.

    • @jacobdavis1979

      Edgar Cortez Just a 350 TBI?
      A nice set of heads like Vortec for starters, a single plane intake, LS6 valve springs, comp retainers, LT4 Hot cam.
      Should make for a neat upgrade.

    Hey man, nice vid. I just picked up an 87 F350 W/ 460-C6 trans. Ive been checking their site and I cant figure out if there is any hickups with using one of their systems and the C6 trans, like kick down connections or whatever. Any thoughts?

    • @jacobdavis1979
      @jacobdavis1979  8 лет назад

      Hmm. Not sure man. I haven't worked on many Fords. Does the C6 have something similar to the 700r4 like a throttle valve cable?
      I bought an adapter for a Holley/Edelbrock carb. It fit right on after some grinding.
      Maybe Holley makes something similar?

    • @mechanicalmonster2115
      @mechanicalmonster2115 8 лет назад

      +Malibu Jak Well Holley sells a Kick Down bracket for Ford Autos, but I don't have any experience with these EFI systems. So I wasn't sure if they worked the same.

      Terry Pikaart I was kidding. Sorry. Didn't realize you'd take that seriously. My apologies.
      Anyway, I knew that it was the IAC valve making that noise. My poor choice of words led to all this confusion with you and everyone else that's made the same comment a thousand times.
      When I referred to the sound as sounding like a vacuum leak I assumed people would take that as feedback of it sounding like a vacuum leak. Again my poor choice of words left some confusion.
      That sound isn't normal. It's a byproduct of poor machining of the bore for the IAC valve. Nobody wants to hear a snake hissing over their exhaust.
      Some time spent with a file to smooth out the sharp edges and turns will fix this issue right up.
