Very important topic discussed. I myself am from Chapra, and as an Urban practitioner, I have been studying Bihar's Urbanization model for some time now. I feel Bihar is moving towards an urbanization model, from past citties urban sprawl model, we can say Bihar have a nodal and nerves kinda evolutions, in simple words, Patna bring the major node, which feeds the other 11 cities. However, in past few years, Mujjafarpur, Gaya (being a heritage site) and other cities are on the way to being major nodes. While I say urbanization, in past decades or so, major NH construction is being made, which is mistook as infrastructural development of cities, which is sad, most cities apart form Patna lack basic planning. I feel the future growth can be if the MSME model could be strengthen, which can give citizens to own local business, reviving the education model (not for capitalizing sake but taking ti as a responsibility to make a change). and most importantly making cities citizen centric approach, rather than providing things because other cities have that. Bihar is known for its desi vibe, why not we take a different approach while developing it, we don't need skyscrappers, perhaps, more trees, cycling tracks,pedestrians, community centres (maiya sthan, or some sort like that), anganbadi, community children parks. Bihar is still at very early stage to be develop, I feel we can achieve it, a sustainable and community-centric Bihar. I rambled a lot, came across this post on linkedin, and i could't stop myself from writing.
