I kind of love this car and have a feeling it would really work best in small island nations where you want fun over practicality for tourists and where range is never really going to be an issue. Maybe Wuling should open a Cuban factory and really get that price down to say $6K USD, minus the battery which really should be leased separately in cars like these where you want to get as many buyers into one as possible! I know the same problem happened with Smart Fortwo my current whip... A great car that was horribly overpriced for what you got but its still a fun urban runabout that was even good on solo road trips!

When China could produce a small EV Cabrio with 320km range and fast charging, (like the Fiat 500e Cabrio) for under €25.000, we would buy it instantly.

The mini evs are not known for safety. This cabriolet version isn't being mass-produced, and the weird gameboy verison has low sales. So, if we only focus on the standard mini evs, which retails for about 4k USD, I don't think anyone can reasonably expect much protection in them. It's like a Citreon Ame with actual metal panels. But hey, you get a moving metal box with air conditioning at 4k USD, tough chance finding other options.
FYI, the MG4 being sold in the UK is 100% Chinese and has absolutely nothing to do with the UK, despite having a familiar badge. It received a 5 star rating from Euro ncap. As long as you don't cheap out, most cars would be safe, regardless of the country of origin. Of course, emphasis on "Most", there are always outliers.

A car that is more expensive and worse than the Wuling Mini EV?🤯 This supposed to be viable for bringing kids to a nearby school but the lack of extra seats and space... I would be better off with the original Wuling mini EV modified with a large sun roof.

The people saying "bring it here to the USA" don't realize they're smart for NOT bringing it here. All you'd need is one of these in a bad accident on the interstate, or one fire, and not only would this brand have an instant PR disaster, but it would further ingrain the reputation that Chinese brands make horribly unsafe cars, earned or not. The risk would be too high for them to enter our market unless they had a more conventionally sized sedan or SUV.

What our leader don’t understand is china industry consumer product power of production .
We can never catch that up as it’s decades of trail and error. take this car, the builder just design it and had these thousands parts build for him cheaply. Then they sell that car to judge buyer, if it sell well in time they will build it themself. It’s why apple trying to get back in china cause all the part are made there. It’s about the advancement of extruded plastic mechines that they can computer control to make plastic pieces by the thousands in a Day or 2 this is building the molds and strength / tear testing all including in per piece .
Think how much that would cost and time elsewhere. So tech production will alway be build there they can assemble them and call it the own. Many of our product are just that, but now it has move up to high price purchases. Even Boeing use china parts and head quarter there. They’re tons the public and congress don’t know. We are so lost.. LOL

If you're going to complain about all the manual stuff then get the heck out of the business so that idiots don't start parroting your lazy views. Next, you'll start ranting about the range anxiety this car causes you because it won't goo 400 miles on a charge. It does have almost twice the range of the early Fiat 500e and other city cars of its era. The boo space is a valid complaint for a car at any price. This one is overpriced for the mental laziness of design that went into it. It should be plastic inside, albeit automotive grade. The convertible top looks exactly as it should be expected to look. Maybe you'd like a set of solid panels to wiggle into the boot space? There is no way any self-respecting person would put you in position to find them a suitable exporter. Wow! It's even fast enough for my 2 mile work commute with its 0.3 mile, 45 mph stretch. That's 43 days or nearly 2 months of driving to work and back on a single charge, so just 6 charges per year counting holidays off. You finally hit a point that is fair. EVs are not something for people who earn their money. After at least 10 years, they finally hit a point in their usability life span where they are a decent to fair value. I can get a MiEV or Prius from long ago at a decent price any day of choice. Not one new EV is worth its price brand new. To be worth having, an EV should have nothing electronic except the parts that control the motor and those parts that help us to obey speed limits and other traffic laws. Any other conformist items should be purely utilitarian and the cost should reflect this. Today, my best practical option for electric transport is an ebike because every auto manufacturer jumped the gun and are trying to figure out where to get the money from to compensate for their idiocy. We were not ready for long range electric cars. In a sane world, only rich people would have them for toys to show off to the rest of us. There could have been a market for city cars if it weren't for influencers constantly telling people that they need more range. Haven't you learned anything about the consequences of not thinking before you act?
