Have you done a video on your favorite flys for Missouri? I personally would love to absorb that knowledge. Thanks again for the content! See ya on the river.
Outstanding video, and content. I found your channel last week, in preparation for a weekend trip to Bennett Springs, and down the rabbit hole I went. I ended up fishing the, Little Piney Creek for awhile on my way home to central IL, caught some small ones. And had a great time exploring the area, I will definitely be planning a return trip, to try my luck at some the other wild trout streams. Keep up the amazing work.
@@FLYALLSZN Do you do much saltwater fly fishing or would you want to get in on doing some? Feel free to message me if you want to get into some coastal fly fishing, i'm from Southern Mississippi and would love to link up and fish.
I'm a big fan of Little Piney Creek. I looked around where the bridge was on 63 and I couldn't find an access. The only one I saw that is easy was the Lane Spring one and that's a walk...I fished it recently had a fun day but the walk sucked from lane spring access during winter
I started my journey this week on the North Fork and Eleven Point. Both were difficult to catch anything on, but the scenery was amazing and I didn't see another soul in four days of fishing. Thanks for all this great info.
@@FLYALLSZN I know you are in NM now, but thank you SO much for remembering your roots in MO. I discovered my love of fly fishing at a MO trout park (RR) but discovered the BR circuit in 2021 and have been very fortunate to visit Current, Barren Fork, Crane, LP, Mill, and Spring so far. This adventure has been life changing for me. I can't explain it but I know you know what I am talking about. Thanks again for your videos. It bridges the gap between when I am able to pursue the chase or MO wild trout once again. Thank you so much!
20 years ago I looked up trout streams the conservation stocked in the 70s planned a day of exploring and fishing for trout started at blue springs off of highway 44 caught 3 small rainbows and a 2.5 right under the low water bridge left there and explored 3 other small streams caught small trout in each location these spots weren't well known very small streams alot of walking involved are you familiar with these streams
Blue Springs kicked my butt today, water was low and didn’t see many trout at all. I will have to come back again some time I want to get gold level at some point.
I just got into fly fishing I live 15 minutes from Bennett springs and I fished the little piney for the first time a couple weeks ago can’t wait to go out and get the gold for all 9
BlueSpring has a lot more pressure since the Slam began. Almost too much for its size. But I have turned away from the parks and do all of my trout fishing outside of the parks. I watch for every post you offer. Thanks!
Thanks for highlighting this Mike. I’ve only fished in Missouri a few times, once on Lake Taneycomo below Table Rock dam for stocked rainbows and Bennet Springs too for stocked rainbows. I also caught a brown trout in the Meramac River below the outfall from Meramac Springs Trout Park. Looks I’ll like I should give the Missouri Blue Ribbon Trout Streams a try.
Travel through Missouri often and I’d love to spend a few days fishing the Rolla area...Not a terrible drive from SW Indiana either....I hate to waste time searching so, the video is helpful....cheers
I just got my silver this winter as well. So far Barron Fork and Blue Springs were hardest. North Fork and Eleven Point to go for gold. I was lucky to get two hookups and one fish to hand at Barron on first visit. I love the Missouri Content. Great Job. Hope to run into you on the circuit somewhere.
Just had an 11 fish day on Crane today. Hope to cross paths down here sometime. Completed my gold ribbon slam last year. Love the videos. Keep up the great work dude.
Totally agree with your approach to awareness conversation. I know people give you shit for naming well known and popular streams, but there has to be some awareness for conversation to thrive. Best example close to me is Bloody Run Creek in NE Iowa. It's a well-known beautiful stream with some amazing browns, and it's absolutely no secret. There have been multiple fish kills at Bloody Run in the last decade. These events barely even garner state-wide media attention. There has been some local push back on the DNR to enforce more stringent run-off restrictions, but who knows how effective it will be. The company in question has already had multiple DNR fines. Unfortunately, pollutants move through streams and rivers so quickly it is extremely hard to determine the pollutant and hold someone accountable. I wish Bloody Run the best, but it seems like it'll become a purely stocker stream in order to survive. I understand the need for keeping some blue lines hidden, but for these larger rivers and streams, they absolutely need awareness. I'd rather leave healthy rivers for the next generation, than keeping streams secret and quietly polluted. How many people here have sent letters to their senators and local officials about these issues? How many people knew about the proposed mining activity near the boundary waters MN? Thankfully, those contracts were just denied. But we could have lost some amazing brook trout fishing and few people would have ever known. What about the new fish consumption advisories listed on the St. Croix River? In the future, I think it would be really cool if you did some videos raising awareness for some of the rivers you have fished (like this video). Your voice is becoming influential in the fly fishing community and we appreciate it. www.kwwl.com/news/officials-investigating-unusual-fish-kill-in-northeast-iowa/article_8a933db7-ae0d-5545-968a-37e7bcca300d.html www.iowapublicradio.org/environment/2021-07-01/the-battle-over-bloody-run-creek www.kcrg.com/2021/08/19/neighbors-hope-raise-awareness-potential-pollution-problems-bloody-run-creek/ www.stcroix360.com/2021/11/new-toxin-found-in-st-croix-river-fish/
If folks don't know, they tend not to care.. I'm guilty of it myself but building awareness is the first step to fixing that issue! Call me the spot burn king, I don't care as long as the next generation knows and more importantly CARES.
Really nice fish and rivers/streams. I'm really impressed. I had no idea this kind of trout fishing was in Missouri until your channel. Crowds...this is why I avoid the San Juan tailwater 🙄 actually there are some spots below the quality water section that aren't bad crowd wise and still good fishing. I strolled up to the famous "Texas hole" once though to find a line of people waiting to fish 10 feet from each other. Combat fishing 😂 Imagine that.... waiting in line to fish?! I'd rather catch 1 fish all day and see no one than stand in line and catch 50.
We thinking in very similar ways!! I went to the San Juan.. once.. first and LAST time.. can’t do crowds! But at the same time folks fish for different reasons so I can’t hate!
I also fished the San Juan Texas Hole area a few years ago and you are right. Plenty of fish actually but it looked like a float boat regatta. Give me a quiet, peaceful day in the Driftless region anytime.
Great video, by the way were you doing a giveaway? I received a message from you and its redirecting me to install an app??? Just mail me my prize I'm not interested in signing up for anything. Thanks Jeff

Great video!
Thank you so much!!
bravo!
I completed my bronze level last year! Looking forward to finishing it off this year
Good luck Brady!
I've been fishing eleven point river since I was a kid. It never gets old going there. We're possibly going to go for the grand slam this year
It’s amazing! Good luck!
great video! going for the trout slam this year. can't wait to start this march at the current near montauk. cheers!
Hell yeah! Get out and get after it!
My grandfather was from Ste Genevieve, and spent some time in Rolla in his youth.
Rolla is a cool spot! You can find a lot of trout pretty close!
I think you and NWFS would make a dope vid together . Same energy and positive vibes

thanks for sharing btw....and I was hoping you'd go to Barren Fork and show me how it's down lol Been there twice...hate that place
BF is a sadistic stream...skunk city but I'll keep trying!
I think I’m going to be stuck on silver for a long time..

Do you ever fish from a boat?
Do you ever hit the spring branch in the winter for smallies ?
Great video, good content.
Thank you! I have recently but I’m mostly fishing walk and wade style
Thanks for sharing awesome information Mike.
You bet!!
That’s awesome man btw will you go more in-depth on how you get the pins?
What did you throw at crane creek? I can not for the life of me find anything they’ll pay attention to. Awesome videos man
Thank you! I find a lot of fish on the copper John!

Thanks Mike. This compilation most helpful for the buckeyes visiting the "show me" ( your beautiful state ....& people ! )
Come down and get on some blue ribbon beauties!!
Headed to Missouri in the Fall to section hike part of the Ozark Trail - Current River section. Will I be able to do some fly fishing from that trail?
You might! But that could be more smallmouth bass and less trout at that point!
Super cool. Loving the content man
Thank you so much jarred!

that walk is a doozy...but LP is a great stream so worth the downhill and then back uphill every time!!
I started my journey this week on the North Fork and Eleven Point. Both were difficult to catch anything on, but the scenery was amazing and I didn't see another soul in four days of fishing. Thanks for all this great info.

Great video at 67 years old it makes me won't to blow the dust off me gear and try the Blue Riddon Grand Slam my self. Keep up the good video's .
Thank you so much Randy!

You are in a great spot for it! There is some great fly fishing to be had in and around that part of Missouri!
very jealous...I'm in KC area so 3.5 hours to the closest BR stream...but worth every penny of gasoline to get to these gems.

do you have to do all of them in a single year or can you complete it over time?
I think the rules on the MDC website list the challenge rules.

That’s so cool! Wyoming does a cutthroat slam that I’d really like to do myself. I loved the look of blue springs creek!
BSC is where I laughed and cried for many years as a kiddo! Fun stream but super technical haha
Nice looking rainbows. Way nicer than the stockers the pour into the rivers here in Colorado
These wild fish really put on a show!
