  • Kajukenbo: Targets. Targets can be a very controversial thing to teach. First let's address what targets are not, they are not pressure points and they don't knowck people out (well the ones on the face or the liver might) but, in general, when we talk about targets, we talk about specific areas of the body that might be more sensitive to either pressure or strikes.
The intention behind the use of these targets is to hurt the other person to limit the functionality of the area being hit or to make the other person cover that area, uncovering other areas that you can capitalize later on.
In this video you are going to see three common targets being used in Kajukenbo located in the arm. Striking these targets, particularly empty handed, can make the arm temporarily numbed or weaker, making it more difficult for a person to use as much strength as before. But at the very least, what we are looking for is to open gaps to continue with a following attack or attacks.
