This is the first jackfruit video I have seen that shows the proper way to open it and extrait the edible parts, meanwhile respecting the organic structure of the fruit and using this very organic structure to process it for eating. This video is so wonderful, from the beginning where the gentleman harvests a few properly ripe jackfruit, to the filming of his roadside stand, every step is authentic and beautiful. Thank you so much Terry Films for the education, simply marvelous!!!
Thank you for this video. This farmer is very skillful and knows how to cut JF without making a mess. I planted my tree this year. Can't wait to see fruit on it one day soon. I also saved the seeds from JF I bought at the store. I have about 8 seedlings growing right now.

Wow, what an impressive demonstration of skill and precision! Cutting fresh jackfruit can be quite challenging, especially given its large size and sticky sap, but you've managed to do it with such ease and finesse. The way you handle the knife and carefully separate the flesh from the rind shows a deep understanding of the fruit and a lot of practice. It’s clear that you’ve mastered the art of jackfruit cutting, ensuring every piece is perfectly prepared for eating. Your technique not only makes the process look simple but also ensures that nothing goes to waste. Great job!
Have only Cut 3 Jack fruit so far, and this video has shown me two significant cuts that make everything easier, That deep plunge into the stem attachment point and the freeing of the core into 4 quarters to release the arillus and allow the shell to invert.
For those who have never eaten this fruit: The rind and core are dripping with extremely sticky latex which can be very messy to deal with, but this man is obviously an expert at minimizing the mess. The edible arils have the identical flavor of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum. The arils that you see the man freeing from the thick rind, core, and other dry fibers are wonderfully fragrant, sweet, and juicy. There is one large starchy EDIBLE seed inside of each aril, which can be prepared for eating exactly as if it were a chestnut. Out of one 20 lb jackfruit you can expect to fill two gallon-sized ziplok bags. They freeze well for storage. This is my very favorite fruit, with durian in a close 2nd place. (Note: "Arils" are the smaller edible portions found inside a larger fruit, and they usually enclose a seed.)
come to asia, you can eat so many varieties of jackfruit. it's not a seasonal fruit, you can get it all year round. it will always availabale. it's so delicious. i've watched some western people on youtube tried this fruit, 90% are failed, because they bought it from asian market, which is unripe when it picked. or frozen one. because jackfruit rot faster than any other fruits
Kami sangat suka menonton video ini, karena sewaktu kami masih kecil kami juga sering memanjat pojon dan memetik buah nangka di kebun kami. Bunyi pukulan buah nangka matang dan nangka mentah kami dapat membedakannya. Terima kasih
If one has not tasted Jackfruit , just missed out on the most delicious fruit , it taste cannot b explained , its just amazing , the best JF comes from India , the taste is amazing , unripe jackfruit has a stringy, meaty texture similar to meat . This texture-along with the fruit's neutral, almost bland taste, which can accommodate the flavor of whatever it's cooked in & is a large reason why jackfruit is such a popular meat alternative.
The attention to detail in this video is incredible! The combination of your thorough explanations, well-shot footage, and creative editing really made it stand out. It's clear that you take pride in the quality of your work. Amazing job
HMMMMM!!! I can already smell and taste it in my head. I miss eating jackfruits! Also, key to not get sticky sap on the hands is to oil your hands first. 😉
I was on a project for Botony Garden Research Center in Singapore when a facility engineer brought me the jackfruit. That was the first time I ate this delicious fruit. It was like eating Buskin & Robins frozen icecream. It was really very delicious. There are two types of Jackfruit, white and yellow. This is really amazing fruit.
TIL: The initial cut through the fruit is the line where the two halves are symmetrical once they are separated. That way you are not cutting into any of the seeds. Brilliant.

Jackfruit is delicious! I bought a slice this past weekend. They're kind of expensive still here in the US, but I eat it every chance I get.
It's probably the cheapest fruit in South Asia.
