I love these chaconnes & passacailles too. They usually are the finale of an act or the whole opera and accompany a ballet. Dance notation for some has survived & you can see what they looked like if you search here on RUclips for "baroque dance chaconne."

Brilliant! This is "proper" music, richly satisfying to listen to. It is said that baroque music has a beneficial effect on the human heart; if so, then this piece has added time to my life!

It's wonderful to finally find music like this and it's just perfect for our college performance (Which is set in the French Court). Has a wonderful soothing effect :)
