Feel free to leave comments, I'll respond to as many as I can.
I wouldn't need a girlfriend with all those instruments
🤣
Not to mention the peaceful place and the time it takes to fully immerse oneself into music ! (Sigh !)
TOP COMMENT !!
The George 4-chord progression at 0:17 (and elsewhere) sounds really nice. I had never really noticed that before under the vocals.
What you do here brings me joy.
McCartney once recalled how ‘economical’ early Beatles recordings were. Seemingly simple. Incredibly effective.
Got the sense he was forever amazed at what the Beatles achieved.
well said!
Cool snare sound. Kick drum is bumpin too
The kick on these Ludwigs sounds MASSIVE. I'm in love.
It's kind of funny how other bands back then used studio musicians - most notably the famous Wrecking Crew to play the instruments on the song - which we listeners never really knew. I thought it actually was Dennis Wilson drumming on all of those Beach Boys songs.
Take incredible songs like this, which were never huge chart-toppers. When we strip away the vocals, we realize that the lads were their own "wrecking crew." Not only did they play astonishingly well, but it was *they* who composed the music. We're all familiar with George's alternating chords during the verses, but I never really saw the genius of John's one-note strumming. Picking out and listening to the individual instruments - and the decisions made by the players - as we can do here - is just stunning. *PLUS* they wrote the lyrics and sang it! Quite unbelievable what these four young boys accomplished, given what their "contemporaries" were doing.
Thank you, Michael, for letting us see and hear what made these guys so great!
Your musical expertise is phenomenal. Well done Michael. Excellent work on all of your covers. Truly amazing.
An early Masterpiece by Sir Paul. I remember when this album came out in U.S. and a friend of mine picked it up New Beatles album? I said, yeah, and he said cool Title of an album, " Something New Something New. Love the front cover. Thanks Michael. Doug
Fantastic. I love how you've pretty much got Ringo's sweeping technique down too. It adds so much to the feel.
It's a fun song to jam to, but it's always nice hearing not only the live performances the band made, but also covers like this that just recreate this song I enjoy a lot. Definitely in my Top 10 favorites
Man, you really nail it
Love it. You are beyond good. You are great.
That tone on that Gretsch is somethin else!
Their long time slogan is “That Great Gretsch Sound”, and it’s pretty accurate.
Such simple arrangements, yet so effective. The Beatles' magic was in the songs themselves, the melodies and chord progressions. You could boil them down to a guitar and a vocal and they still stood up for themselves. Great job, BTW. Nailed the sound of all the instruments.
What I am thinking?... Now with you I've been seeing how it was Beatles' work at studios...
Great video, Mike! love the sound!
Another of my all time favorites, not that there were any Beatle songs I didn't like. (Revolution 9 doesn't count) Well done as always. The piano is a bit overwhelming.
This is the song The Beatles chose as the B side of A Hard Day's Night.
A favourite of mine, I love John's droning Am best. I've read that it's Am alternating with Em but Mike clears that up: John drones and George alternates. Then there's the bright spots at 'Me I'm just the lucky kind....' and John's stacato stabs.
You say you will love me
If I have to go
You'll be thinking of me
Somehow I will know
Someday, when I'm lonely
Wishing you weren't so far away
Then I will remember
Things we said today
You say you'll be mine, girl
'Til the end of time
These days, such a kind girl
Seems so hard to find
Someday, when we're dreaming
Deep in love, not a lot to say
Then we will remember
Things we said today
Me, I'm just the lucky kind
Love to hear you say that love is luck
And though we may be blind
Love is here to stay and that's enough
To make you mine, girl
Be the only one
Love me all the time, girl
We'll go on and on
Someday, when we're dreaming
Deep in love, not a lot to say
Then we will remember
Things we said today
Me, I'm just the lucky kind
Love to hear you say that love is luck
Though we may be blind
Love is here to stay and that's enough
To make you mine, girl
Be the only one
Love me all the time, girl
We'll go on and on
Someday when we're dreaming
Deep in love, not a lot to say
Then we will remember
Things we said today
Sounds so good.
Great job man!!!!
Never a favorite of mine, but a fantastic job none-the-less. You play very well and get a good sound.
Great,I never realised John stayed on one chord so long, you get it just right.
I wish you could cover the live at the Hollywood bowl version of Dizzy miss lizzy,it’s majestic and far better than the help album version.
George really puts some effort into it,John plays that boogie bass rhythm and it’s just glorious.amazingly the live version is slower than the recorded song,to my ears anyway, thanks for all the hours of hard work.
Awesome
The chord changes in this song are early McCartney genius at work
Nice job!
My favorite macca song
Nailed it.
Good job! Amp settings on the gretsch?!
Great! :D
Something about this song always reminds me of The Doors.
The rare minor key mainstream pop song! The Doors were masters of it.
Probably the bass line in the breaks.
are you not going to do the Beatles For Sale album?
Hello great, I wanted an info on the gibson j-160 which strings do you mount? Thanks
String information is in the description!
Why do you have 2 camera shots of the Gretsch and the J-160?
Because it looks cool.
Fair enough. Nice job.
Ok
perfect rendition musically but its a bit fast
Thanks! I record my covers using the original track as my guide track, so it's the same exact tempo.
First
if they tested the Beatles IQs back then ,they would be over 140 .........all 4
The musical progression of The Beatles just from Please Please Me to A Hard Day's Night is staggering...let alone what was to come.
That's one of the fun things you'll see due to me skipping every other album. "Please Please Me" to this album was a huge leap. There'll be another one for "Help!"!
Awesome.
Hey Mike...bro...I stumbled upon this video today and didn't realize it was the 'kid' from your old channel. Boy was I sorry to see you had stopped posting videos (then the channel just disappeared). Your Blackbird tutorial on McCartney's strumming technique was an eye opener. I'm one of those guys who had been playing it incorrectly for YEARS (you know...employing one of those lame fingerpicking methods). At any rate...glad to see you're back. In this video (for John's rhythm guitar part) you seem to be holding the Am chord throughout (rather than alternating with an Em chord). I've seen Paul play this song live (most notably on his MTV unplugged show from years ago) and he is definitely alternating the 2 chords. Do you think John actually played it the way you are playing it? It's hard to tell from the recording. Any thoughts?
What surgery should I ask my doctor to prescribe, so I can listen to the recording and know exactly what to play on each instrument? :)
Never realised how jazzy this song was. Someone could really slow this down and do some nice Coltrane improv on this.
Are you a professional musician?
Incredible as usual!
The banjo...in d original.sounded very much alike wth ur guitar💪🙂perfect bro💪
is this the last of hard days night?
read the description! 2 songs left!
great, but piano a little bit loud
