Nice vid man. I've a question - I'm setting a diamond on a ring. Problem is, I'm setting diamond without cutting the metal. As a result, geometries of both parts are intersecting. So, when I put appearance on both parts, diamond appearance is not visible (because of metal appearance below). Is there a way to solve this; I mean if we could make diamond appearance primary, so intersecting geometry has only diamond appearance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello there!
Would you be able to make a tutorial on how to put a (Solidworks file) balcony to a 2D picture of a building if I source you with the files?
I'm struggling to do that and would guess I'm not the only one.
I found out that there are lots of people using the software as I do, 3D to 2D image.
Imagine there is a building on an image, the sun is behind that building, now how would one add a balcony in a realistic way. What a challenge!

This is a great idea for a tutorial for us to produce! In general, you would want to load the 2D image in as a "Backplate". You can use tools like the Grid display (Scenes -> Show Grid) to help match the perspective and orientation. From there it's all about matching the lighting, which is definitely the challenging part.

@@PauloDeucher Sure! You can e-mail the engineer that created the video to get the process started - ( e-mail provided )

Hi. Is it possible to assign appearance to part's face or feature?

If you apply it at the face or feature level in SOLIDWORKS then it will carry over to Visualize.
If it was imported to Visualize as one appearance, then there is no direct way and you would have to use a different method. You could use the "Split Part" option to break out the faces you want to color differently. Or create a Decal to position over certain area of the model.
