Teacher's Tech is just what I needed to learn how to fully use Google Classroom. The instructor is clear, calm, and backs up the instruction with visuals. The pace is perfect for beginners. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
💡TIP: You can also use Ctrl + D to Duplicate. Then you just drag the duplicated text box to the next blank space. Great video. Can't wait to share with the teachers in my district. 😊
Thanks for detailed steps to follow. It makes the directions easy to apply. Here's another tip: when starting, use plus sign to open a new presentation slide and use dropdown arrow to get to blank cell. Change page set up to 8.5 x 11. NOW SAVE THIS NEW TEMPLATE of blank cell and page size with a new name like NEW PRESENTATION TEMPLATE. Make a few copies of the blank slides. Make a copy of this presentation and RENAME IT WITH A NEW NAME like English 12A or whatever. Continue to create your slide presentation. The most important step in this process is to rename the slide TEMPLATE as soon as you open it. You will always have a new, blank slide ready with page set up for 8.5 x 11. It is a little shortcut.
I am the WORST tech person on earth - and you are the guy I needed. Thanks for being the best!! You helped a fool become successful - at this one task 🙏🏼
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just edited 7 pages of pdf's using the snip tool. And the hack on dropping the page into the background makes my sheets look just like the Live Worksheets. Keep posting.
Once you switch to PowerPoint to create your resources, you'll NEVER GO BACK. Of course Google slides is the same. I prefer PowerPoint to create as there is more functionality. I can just upload them to my Google Drive and they instantly convert to slides. So much easier to share with students via Google. (But Microsoft is better for the creation side of things.)
You can also add a border to the text boxes, or fill then with a light color, and add to the directions to "put your answer in the green boxes"; that way students don't have to delete the "type here" text. Great video tute!!!
Thank you for producing a quick, clear, concise video that makes perfect sense because you say and show as you go. Your pace is perfect for making notes and moving right on. I like that you do mention other videos available, but do not go on "advertise" them in that long, irritating way that many others do, and you don't even pretend to be funny or cute in delivery. Thanks!!!
💡TIP: If the "Click here" not pasting exactly where you want drives you a bit nutty as it does me ;) , click on the text box, then select Format (top toolbar), Align & Indent, and then select Middle. This way, whatever has been typed into the text box will show up in the middle of the box (from top to bottom). If you select "Center" the text will be will center-justified (from left to right). Excellent video - I'm subscribing to learn more!
Gosh, thanks so much for this - I love that this is straightforward, no bedazzled distractions etc. So incredibly helpful for a teacher who did not grow up in the tech generation and desperately trying to keep up and help her students. A thousand thanks. I'm going to watch your others as well.
Thanks for sharing this -- I'm sharing with teachers in my school. A tip for you: You can change the Layout of the slide to Blank instead of deleting text boxes. Paying it forward!
This is most useful. I used to show teachers how to do this for their SMART Boards and never thought of doing this. You just saved me a ton of searching and it is much appreciated as Google doesn't think to include these best practices! Thanks Again!
I LOVE your videos! They are so helpful! I'm a college professor that has recently transitioned my team to Google Classroom and all things Google. I've shared a couple videos with my staff to help them along the way. Your explanations were very simple to follow and understand. Two thumbs up!!
Nice idea. Two suggestions: Instead of writing Click Here and forcing the kids to delete it, when you make the text box, just choose Border Color and instead of Transparent, give it a thin visible border. Also, Google "pdf to jpeg" - there are plenty of excellent, free online services that will easily convert a pdf to a png or jpeg quickly.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. Your instructions are very easy to understand and I was able to be successful on my first try. My students are running out of printer ink, so this is a lifesaver!
absolutely stupendous! Bravo... it is so awesome, it makes me wanna spend the time doing this so that I don't need to do .DOC quizzes and printing and all that stuff for the 125 ESL students I have. Thanks so much
This just made my life so much easier. I had no idea about Google Classroom or Google Slides. During this time of being locked inside this makes teaching so much easier. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this. Your pacing and instructions were clear and precise. WoW! Never thought of making the document a background image. ... Simplicity is Key. Students will love this. Thanks.
Thank you very much for such a nice way of teaching teachers. I am a teacher who were finding it hard to use technology for future teaching. This is the first video I have watched and I believe your videos can help me to transition into blended teaching/learning era. I like your calm style of teaching. Thanks again.
Thank you Jamie this tutorial was so easy to follow. You made it so easy to follow. I am excited now to create my lessons in Google Classroom. Will watch more tutorials of yours.
This video is wonderful !!!! Thank you so very much. I teach 2nd grade and most of my students don't have the knowledge to know how to get in and edit their papers. You've made my day.
Thank you, I figured out everything but setting it as a background. I knew there was a way to anchor it. You just made my time in virtual a lot easier.
This is absolute genius! I had no idea that we could change the setup of a slide page! This saves me a toooon of time and effort in trying these other confusing platforms!
I just screen snip the original page, hit COPY, then go to my document (I use PowerPoint), hit change background to paste the screen snip straight in. No need to save it or anything. Boom! PowerPoint is so much easier to use for creation of resources. I then upload to my Google Drive (where it becomes a slide of course) to share with students. Then I let the add their own text boxes (I like your idea of the 'click here' box though, especially if teaching younger students.
@@rickpalmer3340 If the original doc wasn't a pdf (eg you might just have a page from a word or ppt doc that you want to freeze so students don't accidentally delete or move anything) then you could do that in the original by filling say, the cell of a table where you want them to write, or if it's ppt then just insert a SHAPE and alter the colors of that. That way, when you screen shot it to copy as a background it'll be grey. I can't see the point in doing that though. Just tell the kids to insert a text box in any gap where they want to write something. Easy peasy.
Great video thank you! I did not know about the Snipping tool. I would usually screenshot the page. For my younger children I shade the text box or colour the lines so they can see.
Thank you. Thanks to your video I have been making worksheets the kids can fill in. Thank you also for showing how to send it to them in Google classroom.
Thanks for the video for the screen 💻 recorded I have downloaded few of them and never was satisfied but your method works 100 percent and big thanks to you.
Excellent! Everytime a question popped in my mind, you literally answered it in your next sentence. Thank you for being a pro! Very helpful as I prepare for remote learning.
This is Awesome and very essential for me to use for my diverse learners! This video was very helpful in showing me the different ways and steps in using the worksheets as Google Slides to enable the students to write on the sheets! I love your videos!
Great video - I find it easier if I put in a text box that is lightly shaded/filled in (light grey is good). Then I don't have to type anything for the students in the box. They know an answer is needed in every shaded grey text box.

I had no idea you could change the size of a slide. This was worth watching for that tip alone. Thanks so much.

Could you fill the text box with a very pale grey to draw the students attention to where they need to start typing?
