- This is a RARE interview that was conducted 19:th of September 2021 with Agnetha from ABBA! FULLY Translated into english by me (GivenToe) for the fans to take part of! This is for YOU!
The interview was made my Carolina Norén at Radio P4 (A Swedish radiostation) for the upcoming release of ABBAs new album: "Voyage".
The single "Don't shut me down" is on NR 1 on the Swedish music charts, and "I still have faith in you" is on number 4.
Agnetha talks about the Reunion, the ABBATARS, ABBAs future, the past, the feelings and the fans.

I love how Agnetha stated that her voice and Annifridas voice are like a marriage😊and she is right...they always sound perfect harmonizing together...the two most beautiful voices we all have ever heard💖their sound is so perfectly matched just like a marriage as Agnetha said😊how beautiful is that....and even though they both sang solo and recorded solo....and they were beautiful singing with other people mostly men....I still prefer them singing together....because Annifrida and Agnetha are the perfect voice match that we will never ever hear again....they are loved 💖💖

It is a gift. But never forget their ages... I see the upcoming album as the crowning achievement. You can't expect them to release one album after the other. I am incredibly grateful that they have done it again, with ABBAtars actually set a monument (who has such a thing) and also write "history" again. My family and I (4 generations) are extremely appreciative...

Amazing , since the livestream I had been wanting to hear from the ladies , and just like that , an interview with the beautiful Agnetha ! Think you so much for the English subtitles , it warms my heart also to hear that the success of the two songs means so much to the members of ABBA. ABBAfans prayed so hard and so long for at least one more song as ABBA and here we are with an album coming , such an amazing blessing that we are experiencing this, and are so thankful that they felt it in their hearts to do it one more time. “ Do I have it in me?” Frida asked, and obviously all of them asked themselves, yes they all did even in their 70’s! A new generation picked up the Baton and pulls Abba through the 2020´s . Spotify reports that abbas new songs are very popular in the 18-25 year olds. Im so happy about this. Quality pop music never goes out of style, and we NEED a counterweight to all serioussness and decadence in the commercial music buizz nowdays. hey david. thanks so much for posting this interview with agnetha. i had been waiting to hear her speak about this new chapter of ABBA. it was a great interview. as far as another album yes would be their 10th studio album and that would be a good number to end on. when voyage comes out it will be huge and it may be the decision for all of them to record one more. its possible that the new show in may could be released as a live album. after all it is their voices of today. so the ABBA story is not over with yet.

She's such an enchanting human being, so humble and decent with a fine sense of humor.
She's never been a "Star" who felt entitled for the gratitude of her fans (neither are the other 3 from ABBA).
Already when she released 'A' in 2013, I was pleasantly surprised,the more I'm stunned by a new ABBA-album.
People should never,ever "demand" more and more from them,though wishing is allowed and actually is a compliment towards them. Nobody would ever wish for more from something one doesn't love.
If it's in THEIR plan of life, to do more, we will gladly receive, but not order.
For the "No change" of sound, I'm all in. When I want a different sound out of Sweden, I switch to Sabaton, which greatly co-exists with ABBA in my music collection.

@@GivenToe I believe this was the best and most personal interview so far with “restrictive” Agneta. I believe Voyage is the finale to their careers, the album that should have come out in the 80s but divorce fatigue and motherhood proved too much to continue at the time. Agneta is indeed a super trouper and despite her age and travel stress, she and Frida came back to us for that final offering. I’m sure both ladies were nervous having to put out these new recordings and potentially smudge their very polished history. But GT, I have to say Don’t Shut has become my favorite recording of theirs. It possesses me. They blew away any apprehension.

Thank you for this and the translation. What I love about Abba is that they are so humble - we all now know how amazingly well the album has done in the charts worldwide. Agnetha has a great voice and has never been a diva unlike some movie stars. Interestingly, Frida did a radio interview this week on BBC2 with Zoe Ball. As for any new abba music she said "never say never"...............

I might add that Sweden's second biggest music export , Roxette, also played a significant role in my life. Per Gessle is a songwriter of note, and Marie Fredrikssons' vocals were electric. But whilst inevitably living in the shadow of Abba, they carved their own niche. RIP Marie, gone too soon.

The fact is that if ABBA say "let's do a few songs and see what happens" it can't go wrong! Huge talent x4 is a guarantee of beautiful sound, lyrics, interpretation, choirs and so on.... they didn't become ABBA just by chance or through lucky circumstances!

👏👏😀 Thank you Given Toe! Back in 1983, a record store put on their window a huge promotional poster (24" X 36") for Agnetha's solo album "Wrap Your Arms Around Me". I begged for them to give me the poster, but they said I had to wait until the promotional time had ended (it had to be up for a couple of weeks) .......and, after they gave it to me! I immedialtely had it framed, and I still have it today.

I have loved her since I was a teenager, I saw them in concert in Toronto, Canada in 1979. I met their manager 'Stig', and was upset that they went back to their hotel. I wrote to her in 2000 with a lovely card, telling her how much we love and miss her. I hope she still has it. My dream has been to meet her for over 40 years. I love her beautiful blonde hair, blue eyes, accent, voice, she is so lovely.

The reason why Abba was not on Svensktoppen since Waterloo is that this was the last "real song" they recorded in Swedish.
At that time only swedish language songs were allowed on this list.

Well rumour has it that they have two or three songs extra that aren't going to be on the album which they've already recorded, so maybe they will add a few more and end up with another album. Really depends on what Benny and Bjorn come up with. You never know with songwriters. They might hit a purple patch and boot out some real bangers. I bet they wouldn't say no to doing a few more in the studio if that happens !
I really wish Agnetha had a few more of her songs on an ABBA album - it would right an 'injustice' that she never felt they were good enough, when clearly they were. Its a shame because although her songs might not have been as big hits, they had a depth and difference in song writing style that would have given ABBA albums a different dimension in the way George Harrison did with the Beatles.
Most songwriters are rather insecure about their work, and its not unusual in bands with outstanding hit makers for the other songwriters to feel intimidated. Dave Grohl didn't write in Nirvana for the same reason - but only felt able to in the Foo's.
I think Agnetha's a much better song writer than she thinks she is !
