Even though OU beat my Crimson Tide this same season, the Sooners were still my hero for this game. I'll never forget the OU students chanting "Roll Tide" to Coach Fran. I wish I could find a video where I could hear that again. I've always liked the Sooners but their stock doubled for me after this game. You guys showed us an unheard of amount of respect. Thank you OU... Boomer Sooner and Roll Tide.
This is the first time I've gotten to watch the highlights from this game (not an OU or A&M fan). I remember reading the score after it ended, and just being amazed. I never realized till now OU put 77 up in fewer than 3 quarters. Holy shit, they're backups scored 28 in the 3rd quarter alone! They could've put up 150 if they wanted.
Some friends and I did a breakdown of this game and figured that, had OU kept its starters in and gone for the throat, it's reasonable that the Sooners realistically could have won by more than 130 points. My. God. Wow.
The only game I knew in FBS history that I knew a team would/could score 100 points on the opposition at the end of the 2nd quarter, utter annihilation.
This game was fucking awesome. I was so happy to be there. I wish Bob was more of a foot on the throat guy, we should have hung 100 on these peasants. We didn't score the entire 4th quarter, that was sad. We damn well could have.
I was at this game. I don't know if I've ever seen a Division-I team (now called FBS or whatever) as completely over-matched as A&M was that day. 49-0 at halftime. OU ran nothing but fullback dive the entire second half and we still scored 28 more points. We took a kneel-down on 4th and 2 inside the A&M red zone late in the game or it would have been 84-0. It was like a college team playing a high school team.
One thing I remember about this game was hearing "Roll Tide" from the Oklahoma student section. Still thankful to the Sooners for that one! Wish I could find a video of it.
@@bassfunkmaster85 Coach Dennis Franchione was at Alabama when they went under NCAA sanctions. While I don't think they were his fault, he preached to every player that staying and being loyal to each other was the right thing to do (by rule, if a school goes on sanctions, they have the options to transfer without penalties). HOWEVER, Coach Fran not only took the job at Texas A&M, he took a plane to Texas and informed everyone via phone call FROM TEXAS that he was taking the job. He became so hated that the surplus of the "Coach Fran" bobble head dolls that were once so popular were sold off for charity at an event where everyone was taking them and teeing off with a golf club at Legion Field in Birmingham. OU and UA had some student friends, so the OU friends of Bama decided to put that little "Roll Tide" chant thing together.
@@impalercabler7059 ahh gotcha. I was wondering why so many Alabama fans were commenting on an OU Texas A&M game, makes sense though. I’ve just always remembered as a sooner fan seeing my favorite team win by 77 points lol
Bizarre!!! What this edited version doesn't show is that the Sooner invoked the mercy rule and allowed the clock to run during 2nd half TV commercial breaks and timeouts. Otherwise it would have been well over a 100 point beat down!!!
boomersoonerct OU doesn’t score 80 when they have a chance to in this game and I understand the class some coaches have but les miles for my LSU tigers took class too far in 2011 we was playing at Ole Miss and we was up 52-3 and we have the ball at like the 8 yard line with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter and les miles tells my QB to take 4 knees and turn the ball over on downs 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ i mean I understand if the score is in the 70’s like this game but our score against ole miss was barely in the 50’s like fuck at worst get a field goal lol
A couple Aggie fans called my mom a b!tch while she was working the beer stands and she yelled back... "It''ll be over before you know it." Great game.
This is why I have not been an A&M football fan since 2003 what a humiliation. Oklahoma later said they couldn't stop them and they basically was walking into the end zone until they were falling over in the fourth quarter to keep from embarrassing worse. This could have been the first game since 1968 where they could have run up the score and scored more than 100 points. It was a humiliation and I've never been in Aggies fan since then.
One of the only games I've ever attended where a team legitimately could have (and probably should have) scored 100 points. There were three deep fourth-quarter drives that should have been points, but Stoops literally told the offense to "fall down" and *not* score. I've also never seen a team give up the way A&M did that day.
Gino Losoya no. We won out until the Big 12 championship against K-State, where we got thumped. We then proceeded to lose 21-14 to LSU in the Sugar Bowl
@@jacob5512 I was confused about that, but I looked and he's referring to Texas A&M had beaten Baylor 73-10 the previous week. It's funny to think of them during that game thinking, "I'd sure hate to be on the other side of that."

I loved this game. Because I had a couple of aggies mouthing off to me the week before this game, reminding me of last year (2002). Then they get their asses handed to them. It was great!! LOL. Boomer!

My dad being hungover accidentally put on 2 different white tennis shoes. Nobody noticed until half time when we went to the store, When we realized he had on 2 different shoes he decided to keep them on because of how well we were playing!!!😂😂😂 #Boomer

OU went up 49-0 in first half. 3rd quarter was backups running the ball to 70-0. Then defense scored, 77-0. 4th quarter was backups intentionally diving into dirt to avoid scoring more.
this is the game the fool michele lupica ran her mouth and stated he wouldnt vote for jason white no matter what. obviously he didnt watch the game. last 35 plays of the game ou ran the ball with most of those carries to the fullback. it was so pathetic that the only time am "stuffed" ou at the goal line is when on 3rd down stoops forced ou to take a knee then on 4th ran the fullback. remember an am player getting laughed at celebrating how his team had just "stuffed" ou. lmfao

I miss the ABC College Football theme. I wish they had never changed it.
It just fit the games real well yes I agree.
It’s such a classic tune to show how important the game was coming up. Couldn’t agree more.
