Jageshwar is situated at an elevation of 1,870 mts above sea level and at a distance of 37 kms from Almora. Jageshwar is an important tourist destination of Kumaon and receives thousands of visitors every year. It is situated amidst dense Deodar forest with a stream flowing at its backyard.
Dandeshwar Temple is situated in Jageshwar, Uttarakhand Region and is around 1 km before the Jageshwar Dham . Dandeshwar temple can be easily reached by walk from Jageshwar Dham. The deity here is a natural uncut rock.
There are around 124 temples that are located in the town and these include many small stone temples and large temple complexes as well. Some of the main temples are the Dandeshwar Temple, Jageshwar Temple, Surya Temple, Kuber Temple, Chandi ka Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nanda Devi Temple. The Dandeshwar Temple is the biggest of the lot and many devotes can be seen in here. Among the oldest standing temples is the Mritunjaya Temple.
NOTE -
1. Due to its temperate climate, Jageshwar can be visited all year round. Summers are cool and pleasant while winters are cold with little snowfall.
2. Finding an ATM or a petrol pump can be difficult at Jageshwar. Make sure you have taken care of these things at Almora before proceeding to Jageshwar.
