Given the durability of diode lasers and the fact their life expectancy is absurdly short I fail to see the point paying over $700 for something that might last you 6 months if you are lucky! The biggest problem with ALL of these reviews is none of you are properly testing the durability of this technology. Sure they work great for a day or two of testing but then thats the last we ever hear about them! Geeeee, I wonder why that is? Sure they offer a 1 year warranty but read the small print because there is about half of this package that is not covered or only covered for a smaller percentage of that year and no where in the warranty terms do they even mention the laser, where under where it specifically says "What Is Covered" it is void of anything mentioning the diode laser or any component or part of it! One thing I found oddly not covered and one they mention is the card reader and board. Why is it that one of the simplest components of this entire machine is not covered and given without the card reader the laser is nothing more than a brick, that should be cause to question buying this thing at all!
Thank you for sharing your opinion. What makes you think this lasers have short life span? Diode should outlast a CO2 tube (which degrades over time and they have life expectancy from a few months to a few years). Diodes, if properly cooled should last upwards of 10k hours without significant degradation of output. In one of my videos I measured optical power output of Sculpfun machine after using it for 50+ hours on full power and the output did not degrade at all. But I didn't perform longer tests yet. I know that Sculpfun does 48 hour load test in factory on their lasers. But you need to understand that these are hobby grade tools. These are not professional machines intended to be used 8 hours each day. You can't compare it to 10k$ industrial machines. What is your alternative in this price range? There is no alternative as far as I know?
Hello JT! Please, I seek guidance, if I paint a white acrylic plate black, with black automotive paint, when I cut and engrave text on the acrylic, is there a risk of the acrylic catching on fire, do I have a Scalpfun S9? Thanks!

Good points that should be brought up.

There is always a risk, you should always be near the machine and observe what is happening. But I think it should be fine.
@@JTMakesIt I believe that the power should be reduced a little, and the speed should also be reduced.

Nice video...!
Good information, could you do a review for TS2 as well?
